When the Night
coming down the dirt road through the town tonight there is a crowd around i can feel it breathe more than a thousand souls out in the night i get so blinded i can see
smoke is rising from the fire that burns sky is purple and the water rise people talking quiet as they start to learn to see with their own eyes
their lives and our lives
different as any other my pain is your pain
tell me, do you want to go under?
you will feel it when the night starts burning feet shuffle on that day when we're going to find what we're going to be fighting come again you will feel it when the night starts burning makes you want to stay light will fill your eyes
we got the seeds of life hidden in our hands blinded by ourselves though can't you see that we've got the seeds of life
do you understand? and hear the calling
you've got love though love we got inside it's time to open our eyes
and really wonder and really wonder if it's enough for
all we need in life can you take me back, can you take me back?

This whole Butterfly Man term I first heard in Lao referring to a guy who floats from one flower to the next drinking in the nectar, and it just stuck with this wanderer. ;) The song itself is about the art of having an honest and meaningful relationship when you realistically see the end from the beginning. Sincere romance, giving and learning as much as possible in the time you have, without the need for a future promise...pero no est tan facil!
Layin up in bed, all night with you again Yeah we hide from the next day Cos we know we know that I, in the end I really can't stay Pleasure & pain are both the same and love is just a losing game Wanting to give it all but 'fraid to lose it if it falls apart
We hold each other, but we hold back Yeah we enclose each other, then we step back I can see it in your eyes, you need to hold on to your life Not run away in my dreams of paradise You're wise, you say that I'm
A Butterfly Man, I'm just a Butterfly Man Today I'm yours but tomorrow when I'm gone, you'll understand Butterfly Man, I'm just a Butterfly Man Holding me mama can't you see's like a hand full of sand
So now before I go away If I could seal your heart Keep inside the feelings of today, I'd be Keeping the fire burning til the moment I return to see you But the only problem is I cannot promise anything

When I was 18 I was working at a restaurant downtown. One day I arrived on my bike to find out I didn't actually have a shift. It being a beautiful day in october I decided to go for a ride to English Bay. I stopped at Burrard bridge to take in the view, then as I turned around to re-mount my bike the metal girders caught my eye and I followed my strong impulse to climb up them. Straight up the 60ft or so I climbed until I was at the top with my clothes off, completely in the moment and inconsiderate of any possible consequences...Of course, it was 11am and when I went to get down what I found was that traffic had ben stopped and there were 7 police cars & an ambulance on the bridge, a firetruck on the way and a boat in the water below! HA..
The other two main inspirations were life in Montreal and the most vivid dream I ever had, about AMOR.
Standing on the bridge waiting for the sun to rise I get the feeling that I'm never gonna get my mind back & I don't mind my feet are on the ceiling and my big fat juicy heart is bleeding.
Blood's a runnin like the Nile, down the hall you start to cry and drop the knife as I begin to crawl towards the piano you're still standing in the door tell me I'm dying baby, Yeah, I know.
Now you look like an angel with the mercy of love. To pure to be from below to wicked to be from above.
You come over so I can hear your heartbeat inside your chest give me a kiss that tastes like cheap wine and cigarettes. & the red blood's still spreading everywhere, it's in your pretty little hands and it's in your black hair.
Things go black and then we're in a place so serene, swimming in a deep blue canyon mountain stream. Out of the water sitting looking in each other's eyes your rusty wet lips and brown skin look so nice.
Then a spark, a vision, I never had before like I was you & you were me and we were sitting on heavens floor.
& I still see it baby, even though the time, it takes, is weighing on me
Hey hey, mama hey hey
Standing on the bridge

As the sun goes down, down around my ankles whoa my my
There's a sliver of light shaking through the night to my window
I sit by the fire, as the rain outside comes down like knives
& I tell only lies, little lullabies, girl I'm so young
But we must east ourselves back to life, yeah tonight
Cos we ain't been ourselves half the time, & it ain't right
Feel it getting heavy, heavy as the night
You ask me if somethings wrong, I don't know about that, babe
But it don't feel right
Girl I stole a horse, black as night and named it the truth
I'll come by your place, you wear your white dress and what we'll do
There's a place I know, my grandfather told me where to go
A little mango grove with a river boat, down in Mexico
& we will ride on through the night, yeah tonight
Down, down, down, down, where the water tastes like wine
Cos this lonely life is not for me, can't you see?
Still I hear it calling me, "come and get daylight" daylight...
Waiting for my time, ohh I...Oh I... (repeated)

Hey everybody just checking in,
it's been a busy summer for the Boom Booms, we went on two small tours in BC- a couple highlights were a "legendary" 7 hour show/party at a treeplanting fiesta in the woods outside Mackenzie, an intimate jam-out in Kaslo, a joy-dance reception at Starbelly Jam, and the Schutter's wedding anniversary at Grey Creek Hall...it was all a highlight, really.
We even had a couple days off the last go-around to spend parked beside a quiet lake, be mostly naked and jam all night long on a battery powered bohemeth amp.
La familia Boom Boom has amassed a modest fleet todate, including an '89 V8 Dodge Ram Van and a '73 GM RV.
Straight back from Nelson in one day we made it in to play...the Ultimate Frisbee World Championships party alongside Delhi 2 Dublin for a crowd that grew to 2,000. We had the pleasure of having Estilo Cubano Salsa team perform with our show- we had the tempo pumped up and made' em work. ;)
This past saturday we threw a block party in our alley that went off like a bottle rocket. The weather was a sweltering dirty 5 degrees, the jerk chicken was jumping off the grill, the kegs flowed, the tequila popped, the salsa wheel was burnin, live music glided over East Van and fell on rooftops and good times were had by all. We played a long set to end the night on a stage we made in front of the boom boom nation flag* and it was just a jungle boogie not to be forgotten...not to be the last!
Soo...LA YA! the now...
now we have a moment to chill and work on all the new material that's been waiting to get to the front. We are taking our press photos tomorrow and filming a music video at our next block party on SEP. 7TH. We're painting the RV, equipping it with music and video gear and prepping to depart the homeland by the beginning of october.
Alright, that's it for now, stay tuned. Thanks for supporting the music, and the band. There are lots of exciting things on the way as we take the show across Latin America and bring you along, making available as much new music and video as we journey on & on & on...
PEACE & LOVE-A

Feliz feliz. good stuff these days. Learning how to save lives this week. Good news: 8 person band in effect, I’m stoked... Horn section baby, + the usual suspects. playing in two festivals this season so far, New music west in may and Starbelly Jam in July the world still exists, I think, and we’re still alive, I think.
Today this lady in my first aid class got me excited about everything there is to do. "For you kids without mortages or kids, there’s so much out there..."
no mortage, no kids, lets go save the world! Or at least get really hammered and do something where the next day we’ll wake up and have the photo memory. Where you don’t have any video memory, just phto moments frozen in your fogy mind

I'm so far inside the jungle deep More long gone with each machete sweep Know my time for me is 'bout to come Finally see all the things I've done
I awake inside a dream Drunk & dazed under a tree I feel hands that softly touch my face sisters in this hidden place
They sing songs that fill my mind In the early morning light Up above I see the tops of trees Think I know just where they're taking me
Down to the river! I'm being delivered! whoa my
They lay me on a bed of reeds Upon wooden raft to carry me With the water I being to roll On my way back to the whole
& I'm calm I close my eyes If I'm gone well hey it's alright Soon enough now I will see Just what's in store for me
Down to the River! I'm being Delivered! whoa my

From the dust of the Araucanians From the stone of the Aztecs From the blood of the slaves Comes the resurrection. Let butterflies catch fire Let the wind then seize them To ignite the volcano And give hymn to the thunder. The sun is hoisted From it's dawning dreams That howl an awakening To the deads great gathering.
Dust on dust Stone on stone Out of their faces A city arises, The ancient mountain chain Casts its spell, The wind blows sharply Singing of freedom. The warriors return To the cry of the earth.
