Current mood:  hungry

Greeting and Salutations my wonderful world of myspace companions,

Let me first apologize for our apparent blog-ular absence. We have recognized the error of our ways and  hitherto will vow to abstain from the degree of neglect which we have displayed in the previous months. Somehow, i beg you to understand, its nothing personal. Maybe its the cold canadian winters that have us curled up a communicative-hibernational slumber. Maybe it's because we've been in a secret underground laboratory constructing an unthwartable, uncircumventable, irreversible plan to take over the world.... Or maybe its because its the Stanley Cup Playoffs and there is just nothing i can imagine that should take precedence over these sacred battles.

Whatever the case, we've got some catching up to do!

Its with remorse that we find ourselves in a position where more apologies to our canadian fans and friends are necessary. Our condolences to all who were anticipating our canadian comeback in june with Fear Before and Dr. Manhattan.  Just know that we did everything in our power to prevent the demise of these shows, but regardless to our efforts the circumstances beyond our control will once again leave us desperate to return to the beloved nooks and crannies of our homeland. We'll make it up to you.... someday

As for the rest of this north american paradise, we'll be formally announcing an epic invasion of momentarily. For those of you who possess some investigatory skills, it shouldn't be troublesome to discover what i might be alluding to. Either way, we are incredibly stoked to unleash the details.

Until then, we've been locked up in the basement of the "Kiros Mansion" crafting some of the most magical music we've ever been able to extradite from somewhere within the depths of our respective beings. But speaking of the Kiros Mansion (212 Covewood Close), this week marks our last days confined to these walls. We are in the process of moving out of this place that has become a veritable member of this family. Its an emotional time, trying to find the proper words to ensure it understands the necessity of our departure. We will always love you 212 Covewood Close, you and the memories we've built here will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

Much love

Current mood:  blissful

Sadly friends and family, today marked the final full day of creativity and ingenuity after being stationed down here in the boundless beauty of Baltimore.  As previously stated, we have been slaving over some fantastical new musical arrangements with the one and only Paul Leavitt. Who, hitherto, will be referred to as 'The Master Of Sarcasm And Pessimism' or 'MOSAP' for short.  haha. But in all seriousness, his slightly derrogatory banter has been the single most motivating factor in unleashing our inner shred!  Technically speaking, Neil is the only member of our band diagnosed with ADD... or ADHD,  but I'm informed that it is not unusual for people to proceed through there lives unaware that they too possess this deficiency. I'd be willing to bet the rest of us fit this latter category.... That being said, as a result its not always easy for us to be 100% productive in a studio setting. Even though we are slightly behind schedule, I'm sure without the all powerful MOSAP in charge, I'd still be trying to figure out what language the word 'tempo' orignated from, or some mundane fact of that nature...

We polished up guitars earlier this afternoon, and put a significant dent in the remainder of the vocal tracks, but I think neil drank too much Arizona iced tea and was feeling a little too bloated to knock the proverbial 'ball' out of the proverbial 'park' metaphorically speaking.  In this case the ball would probably be more accuratly described as invisible sonic reverberations, and the park better defined by micro-condenser-recording mechanisms. Needless to say, we'll be back tomorrow to put the final touches on, and maybe do a little experimenting.

I found an Iphone application that you can play the Ocarina ( mystical musical device made famous by none other than the fabricated entity named ZELDA).  I was thinking a little electronically simulated woodwind action might be exactly what was called for!

We have enjoyed our time thoroughly with the MOSAP and are delighted to share the product of our labours with you in the near future. December 1st to be exact! So get stoked, and stay tuned for more updates as that date perpetually becomes nearer to being the present!

I'd like to especially thank Sadie and Cameron, or dynamic canine duo for comforting us in moments of discouragment and  lifting our spirits with a lick of their tongues and a wag of their tails. Haha. I'm personally awfully fond of these hairy creatures we call dogs and was ecstatic to share the studio space with a couple of them.... And I think it helped Barry through some of the separation anxiety he was experiencing on account of the absence of his puppy 'Sundae'. We left that little fur-ball back in Canada before our 47 hour drive to the east coast. I think I caught Barry weeping last night because he missed her so much. Haha, just kidding....

One more thing, If you ever find your way to Maryland, make a stop at the Blue Moon Cafe. I might have had one of the best breakfasts of my life a couple days ago at this breathtaking bistro. Not to discount my own mother's ability to create french toast, but they baked Cap'n Crunch cereal into theirs... and lathered it in whipped cream and syrup and blueberries. Just typing this is seriously acitivating my salivary glands... I'm drooling all over the place....

Now, in conclusion, I command each and every one of you to go check out our Youtube Channel! We've been talking about regularly uploading video blogs for  over a year, and have been desperate to keep you all a little more in the loop... so here goes... there are 5 or 6 brand new clips up to keep you entertained! Expect a steady flow from here on out! www.youtube.com/kirosband

Much love

Current mood:  bouncy

Hey everyone! Lots of big news going on!

Our new music video has been doing extremely well on Much Music! A big thanks to everyone who has been requesting it! You ROCK!! Keep that going, and we'll be able to take over the world!

Speaking of taking over the world... our record label "Torque Records" has just signed a distribution deal with Victory Records (Taking Back Sunday, Silverstein, Atreyu, etc.) What this means is our new CD "A Single Strand" is going to be available in the United States soon! A tentative release date is set for March!! More info on this is coming soon!

A bunch of radio stations across Canada have been picking up our first single "Of Wolves and Angels," which is very exciting! Call your local radio stations and badger them to play us! It helps out more than you know!!

On top of all that, we've got a big Western Canada tour coming up to finish off the year!!! Here are all the dates:

Dec 2: Calgary (Our hometown CD release show!!) - With Crowned King, Lions and Tigers and Bears, You are a Weapon, and Open Eyes Elysia .

Dec 3: Cranbrook - with Crowned King.

Dec 4: Penticton - with Crowned King, Fear Conspiracy, and Poor Little Rich Girl.

Dec 6: Regina - with Tripmeter, Andy Shauf, and guests.

Dec 8: Winkler - with The Fortunate and Sincerely Autumn.

Besides all that great and wonderful news, we also have an update that some of you might be a little bit less excited about. It is with sadness that we are now announcing Kiros and guitarist Jon Purschke will be parting ways. Jon has decided to retire from road life and settle down in Calgary before next year gets all crazy with all the cool stuff going on in Kiros land. Jon will still be playing all of our upcoming tour dates and will continue rocking out with Kiros until we've found the perfect new guitarist/backing vocalist. We wish Jon all the best, and we've been honored to play alongside him! Make sure you come and catch him play as a part of Kiros one last time at some of our upcoming shows!!

If you haven't already, go buy the new record (A Single Strand)!! It makes a great stocking stuffer! Get it at HMV, Music World, Sunrise Music, CD Plus, Archambault and more! And don't forget: Get it online at iTunes or by ordering off the Kiros Web Store on www.kiros.com or at www.myspace.com/kiros

We love you!
