You're getting it right here kids--PunkRockPromo has recieved the "Rude Approved" award for official Douchebaggery.  WARNING--Proceed to work with PRP at your own risk. They will ask you for free stuff. Promise you that free stuff will be played in their "Store" and on their "jukebox", this is not the case. Don't waste your merch on this guy, he's got more enemies than me but apparently he's BFF with Joe King. It's drama, it's bullshit but I felt the need to address it since he's out bugging Knowhere Bands and I love you guys, but you're all grown ups so decide for yourself. So, now you know and knowing is half the battle.

Ahoy!

Johnie 3 delivers harder edge
Published: Thu, October 22, 2009 @ 12:00 a.m.

The Youngstown-based band has a larger following in Europe.
For Johnie 3 bassist Michael “Myke” Rosati, dropping the “Sexbomb” has two connotations.
The first involves the release of the Youngstown-based act’s new CD, “Sexbomb,” which finds the punk-rock trio — Rosati, Jay Dorbish (vocals, guitar) and Casey Annico (drums) — exploring a harder rock edge. As for the second reference, it’s not really for print other than saying it involves a latenight bootie call. Hmm, how about we discuss the former.
“We’ve definitely evolved over the years, and it seems like this new album is our most creative record to date,” said Rosati, a 2000 Boardman High School graduate. “While our last CD, ‘Hang the DJ,’ which came out in 2007, was mostly straight-up pop-punk songs, this new album is a little bit different, maybe going toward harder stuff like Motorhead or The Helicopters.”
Among the new tracks the band is excited to play live at its special “Sexbomb” CD release show Saturday at Cedars Lounge are the raw title track and the fast “Hollywood Nosebleed.”
Rosati said the threesome has a unique relationship with Youngstown in that it doesn’t really have one. Instead, the outfit has grown quite a following overseas.
“We’re leaving Nov. 4 for our fourth tour of Europe,” Rosati said. We’re playing about 15 shows. When we first went over there in 2007, we became good friends with this band The Apers from Holland when they were on tour over here. They asked us to come over to Europe and play some shows. When we were there, we met a booking agent from Copenhagen, and they’ve been kind enough to book us the past three times we’ve been there. So they hook us up a lot.”
Is it possible that Johnie 3 is more popular in Europe than in America?
“I would say most definitely bigger in Europe than here,” Rosati said.
“Even like in our hometown of Youngstown, there’s like more people that know us in Europe than they do here. It’s just like this style of music is way more popular over there and like they are way more interested in arts and stuff like that.
“We’ve done a bunch of tours in America, six or seven. So we can play a show here in America to maybe 15 to 20 people, and then we’ll go play in Europe to audiences of 75 to 100. I don’t know how we can change things. Maybe eventually the Americans will catch on. I don’t know.”
Is it at all lucrative to tour Europe?
“Oh, absolutely,” Rosati said. “The euro is worth more than the dollar, so that’s good there. And you can get good guarantees every show you play like food and beer. So you can actually end up making money when you come back.”
You know, talking about the euro-dollar exchange rate isn’t very punk rock.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be even possible for us to tour Europe,” Rosati said. “So that’s a feat in itself. Like I had a job last year working at a restaurant. Then I just decided I can’t take this [expletive] anymore. I don’t want to be a waiter. Being broke and not having any money is a lot more fun than having to go to some [expletive] job every day.”
OK, that sounds punk rock.

Knowhere is about to launch an online distro. By 11/03/2009 it should be up in the website. We don't have a ton of stuff just yet but I think most of the stuff is pretty cool and some of it is hard to find.

Whatever your tastes may be, power pop, pop punk, power punk, etc. Chances are we're gonna have something that tickles your fancy.

So, we're looking to trade with other labels and distros throughout the world to expand our distro catalog. Just drop us a line and we can work out a really cool deal.

Talk soon.

Knowhere Records Newsletter September/October 2009

Where I live the leaves are starting to fall and turn to those great autumn colors.  The air is cool and lets me think back on a very busy summer we had.  The “Goin Knowhere” Fest was a success! IT was 2 days of great music and great people. A big thanks to all the bands that participated, made the extremely long drives, took off from work, and sacrificed so much to be there—I think it was a great party had by all. Thanks to all the peeps that made the fest too! It was great meeting new faces and seeing old friends.

As for the rest of 2009—Knowhere has a few special things happening.

We will be releasing the newest effort from Ohio’s own playboys—JOHNIE 3—The title will be “Sex Bomb” and has 13 tracks that see the band breaking new ground but still holding true to the things that made you love them in the first place.  Mixed and Mastered by Justin Perkins it’s 25 minutes of awesome punk rock! The boys will be hosting a CD Release Party in Youngstown on October 24, 2009 BE THERE>. J3 will also be back out on the road in Europe starting November 7, 2009 in Belgium with the Hitchcocks and the Dickson Batteries.

If you didn’t pick up a limited copy of The NEW 45’s debut S/T CD this summer you will have another chance.  We re-Mastered the entire CD with J.Powell @ Steinhaus and are going to give it the right treatment this go round with new art and liner notes and a repress in December 2009. The band will be on the road in the Northern US starting November 23, 2009. The band is def worth checking out live as they most certainly swept me off my feet when I saw them.

“Clambake” the great summertime split CD featuring new tunes from NJ’s biggest dopes THE SHECKIES and Philly’s only surf punx THE SLOTCARS is still available, but not for long—they are going fast! So fast in fact we will be repressing it in DEC-JAN for all the kids who didn’t get one.  The CD was recorded at The Electric Cave in Portsmouth NH by the fab Jim Tierney and Joe Queer.  Joe even did some vocals and guitar licks on a few tracks.  Wimpy dropped by to add a little something to the SLOTCARS half of the split.  All this greatness and even mastered by Johnny Love of LVEAM. Artwork by Justin Melkman. Get yours now!

Also released this summer was “Punk Sounds” the latest effort from the legendary HUNTINGTONS. With this CD you get a bunch of older, unreleased songs, a few new ones and even a cover of Darlington’s “Judy Jetson” all wrapped up in a nice little package just for you.  So far it’s been selling well and the great thing about this record is that the profits are going to a good cause. To assist the Pierce family (original Huntingtons drummer) in paying medical expenses for Mikee’s wife who has stage 3 brain cancer.  The family has been hit pretty hard over the last few years with things that families should never have to go through so the boys in the band thought this was a good way to help out.  Jeanie Pierce, from which the tune “Jeanie hates the Ramones” was penned, is the reason behind all this coming together and finding a way to help. If you can remember all the times you rocked out to that song and how much joy it brought you, you won’t have any problems helping out. You can pick up the CD in our web store or you can donate money to the family through PayPal at mikeehuntington@msn.com. Any and all help is appreciated.

Last but not least for 2009 was the release of “Take Over” by Chicago based melodic punk rawk band MAGNAFUX.  These guys have been at it for a very long time.  The band is comprised mostly from the ashes of the infamous SLUDGEWORTH, a Chicago Punk staple that if you don’t know was way ahead of the times when they were active.  MAGNAFUX shows no signs of the former band except for the amount of talent that goes into their songs. Unapologetic and crass the band delivers a razor’s edge form of punk rock that will have you pissed off and dancing. The vocals are offensive and fresh and might just scare the shit right out of ya! No plans for touring as of yet but they will be playing a few shows this October in Chicago. So, make the trek to the other side of the tracks and get your mind blown.

Okay, on to 2010!

We only have one project lined up for the next year and that is “Punk Rock Nights”, a subscription-only 7 inch series featuring 24 bands on 12 records. Hopefully to begin releasing in Feb. 2010. Ben Nuthink of the UK Punk band The GRISWALDS will be supplying the art for all the releases.  Ben will be designing stencils for each release and we will screen-print the sleeves ourselves. Each release will have a different color theme and unique liner notes including band bios and artwork.  We are trying to take this concept very GLOBALLY by pairing the bands One USA band and One EUROPEAN band for each release. In addition each release in the series will feature 2 labels for co-production.  Hopefully in the end this will help the bands break into different markets that they would not be introduced to normally. We intend to have a finalized list of participating bands, labels and Subscription information by the end of the month of October. Below is a list of confirmed bands and the pairings for the split releases. These are not in any particular order.

Knowhere is proud to announce our newest alliance in the Pop Punk War on Terror--The biggest Dopes from Cape May NJ--The SHECKIES!  We are so excited to have them as a part of the Knowhere Family that we have already made plans for a new record. The new CD will be a split with the SLOTCARS titled 'Clam Bake'.  Mostly beach inspired tunes that are sure to get you hot and bothered and wanna take a dip in the big drink!  The CD will drop in July at the 1st Annual 'Goin Knowhere Festival' in Grand Rapids, Michigan-Which will also feature both bands as performers.
Did we mention all the new tunes from both bands were recorded at Jim Tierney's Studio in Portsmouth NH along with the assistance of the Grand Marshall of Pop Punk himself---MR. JOE QUEER. Yep, that's right! Wimpy makes an appearence on the Slotcars side and the boys even got Joe excited enough to pick up his old Fender and knock out a few licks for the Sheckies side.  The tunes are stellar, the sound is grand. this is not one your gonna want to miss, so blog it, put it into your little IPhones and tie a friggin string to ya finger cause it doesn't get better than this.
Ahoy!
