Hi everyone,
This is Dave's wife Sandy.
We're usually very upbeat when we send out bulletins about HALO (HELPING ANIMALS LIVE ORGANIZATION). For those of you that don't know, HALO is an amazing cat shelter and animal rescue organization based in Little Falls, NY. The HALO house is an actual house where over 120 cats live WITHOUT CAGES. You have to see it and experience it to believe it. Every time I go I end up in tears at some point - happy tears that so many animals have homes and are well taken care of and beautiful and have a chance at life - and sad that there are so many cats without homes, who NEED to be there because they have been abandoned and left to fend for themselves and die.
Many of you who listen to Dave on the air know that he talks about HALO often - he mentions them on the air, we do PSA spots for them, and they are on the BUG COUNTRY website. This group of people are very special to us and we try to help them in any way that we can.
Now that spring is here, HALO really needs your help. They are in desparate need of volunteers to help them with spring cleaning - cleaning the house, planting grass seed, raking, etc. They are also in desparate need of volunteers who can come to the house during the day and help feed the cats, change the litter, etc. They can also use help from someone willing to take cats to the vet, buy food, pick up litter, etc. The main group of women who started HALO in 2004 are getting older and some of the tasks that they have to complete each day are getting harder for them. They really need some help.
I know that there are a TON of animal lovers out there. Dave and I have 3 cats and a dog that are our family members, not our pets. We can't imagine our babies being homeless with no place to go, nothing to eat, no one to love them. Thanks to places like HALO, tons of animals get that second chance at life.
Of course HALO can always use money. They are not for profit and don't get anywhere near the monetary support that the humane society gets. They exist solely on generous people like you. BUT right now what they really need is volunteers.
Maybe you have a few hours a week and are looking for something to do. Maybe the kids will be out of school for the summer soon and you want them to help the community. Maybe you have a teenager that wants to work in the animal field someday and could use the experience. Any boy or girl scouts out there that could use the volunteer opportunity to earn a badge? Or maybe someone out there is just an animal lover and wants to give back a little.
It doesn't have to be 7 days a week. It doesn't have to be 5 hours a day. It can be whatever time you can afford to give to them. They would be so appreciative.
Also, in an effort to help out in a different way, Dave has made the offer to severely cut his DJ fee for anyone willing to donate $50 to HALO. He would be willing to DJ any event (wedding, anniversary, picnic, graduation, etc) for a fee of $100. That would only be $150 total. That's an amazingly low amount of money for a DJ at your event. That's about $300 off of his normal fee. That's how important HALO has become to him. To book Dave for your event, please email him here.
So please, if anyone can help out, it would be so appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for any assistance that you can provide to this wonderful charity.
If you have any questions or want to volunteer, you can call Andy at 315-823-4680...or email Dave here. For more info and pictures of HALO you can visit HALORESCUE.NET . You can also find pictures of some of the cats available for adoption, as well as a link to HALOs website on WWW.BUGCOUNTRY.COM .
Thanks again!
Sandy
