This was the first "song" I wrote on the Chapman Stick. It was co-written with my friend, Mike Russo (the drummer on the song). We recorded it with some like microphones, in a tiny room we were set up in.

The Stick parts are very simple, but I love the tone I got on the bass end of the Stick. After I got better on the Stick, I changed my tone processing, and now I can no longer get this sound.

I was listening to the local "new rock" station last week. In between playing the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beastie Boys, they played a song by Feist. The song really caught me off gaurd. First, because it didn't fit the format at all. Secondly, because it was an excellent song. I heard it one time, and still remembered the hook a week later.

So I found her MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/feist

Then, I bought her CD, "The Reminder." I really enjoyed it. The music can be sensitive at times, almost melancholy. The music doesn't fit a category, which I really enjoy. Sounds like Jazz, then folk, then rock, then pop. Yet, she pulls it all off  with continuity  (it isn't schizophrentic at all), and the songs are well constructed, and not typical. This is truly fresh music. I wish her all the best. She deserves to be a star.

Swan gives it: 8 out of 10 stars * * * * * * * *

Current mood:  thankful

Before I began focusing my interests on Reformed Theology and apologetics, I spent much of time involved with music. I play guitar, bass, and Chapman Stick. On the tracks posted here, I played everytihng except the drums.  For more information about me, visit my blog: Beggars All: Reformation and Apologetics
