Current mood:  excited
Hi everyone,

I have some news I'm rather excited about. My publisher James Wallis of Magnum Opus Press and I have partnered with leading RPG website EN World to publish the entire text of my ENNie-nominated novel Game Night, on EN World, for free, in twenty-six weekly instalments.

The whole lot. Not a preview. Not a tester. But the whole kit and caboodle.

Anyhow, I won't waffle on, because I'd rather let my novel speak for itself. If you haven't already read it, and I'm guessing a good chunk of you have, then you can read chapter one here:

If you like it, then please leave a comment there, and please tell all your friends. I'm doing this to try and get Game Night out to a wider audience than it's so far reached. (If I've learned one thing over the last two years it's that marketing a book is actually pretty hard).

And if you have already read it and liked it (and in that case, thank you!), then obviously I'd appreciate it if you could point people you know at the above link.

Thanks,

Jonny

I'm rather chuffed to announce that I will be appearing at South Woodford Library in the London Borough of Redbridge (outer north-west London) at 2:15 pm on Saturday 13th December. This is all thanks to Alison, who Jules and I met at the Discworld convention.

I'm not quite sure what the exact format is, but I think the intention is to do something like a reading and a talk and a Q&A session. (I think it's pretty flexible at the moment, and I'll see what Alison thinks).

The nearest tube station is South Woodford, on the Central Line, and you can see a map of the area here. I don't have a finish time, but if any of you guys turn up we'll be more than happy to head to a pub for some drinks and a further chat.

I have some news. Game Night has been nominated (i.e. made it onto the shortlist) for an ENnie award. The Gen Con EN World RPG Awards (to give them their full name) are pretty prestigious and I'm pretty chuffed to be nominated. But of course, it would be even better to get a gold or silver medal for first or second place.

The final stage of the ENnies is a public vote, in which anyone can take part. Voting started today. If you would like to vote in the ENnies, please go here:

Game Night has been nominated in the "Best Regalia" category. It's up against books by Wizards of the Coast, White Wolf, and Green Ronin, so I've obviously got a pretty big mountain to climb. But I guess you never know.

Hi all,

I've created three You Tube videos. One is a remake of the one I did a few weeks ago, and two are new. Hopefully they're pretty funny.

Buy This Book

In which I explain why you should buy Game Night.

Jonny Reads Some Reviews

Game Night's got quite a few reviews. In this video, I take the viewer through some of them.

Jonny Reads The Classics

The first in a series of films in which I read from classic novels, starting with Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice.

At the recent London Book Fair, I went to a talk by some people from J W Wiley on the subject of how authors and publishers can make use of social networking to promote their books. One of the techniques they talked about was the use of promotional videos, distributed via YouTube, to promote books. They played a five minute montage containing dozens of their videos, and they were very impressive. It immediately occurred to me that this was something I should be doing for Game Night.

Now their examples were all in the non-fiction area, so it wasn't immediately obvious to me how I could use modify that sort of style to promote Game Night. But after a little bit of thought, I think I've managed to do it.

What do you think?

And yes, I'm not entirely serious here!
