THE SLEEPERS decend upon the freakin' awesome KINETIC PLAYGROUND for a FREE SHOW this FRIDAY at 9PM.

FREE to park (in the lot behind the club),
FREE to watch bands rock,
FREE to hang out,
FREE to talk to us.

Seriously. It's also a friggin' BBQ & POOL PARTY, too! Hot damn! Weird, right? WRONG! It's awesome. It sounds to us like there is going to be some fantastic BBQ and some kiddie pools in which folks can frolic about between bands. We're not making this up. Just come out to check it out.

Internally, we're calling this show the FUN N' FREE BBQ & POOL PARTY FREE N' FUN SHOW WITH BANDS INSIDE SHOW. Say that 5 times in a row, you get in FREE. Make sure to tell your doorperson we said so. It's like a piece of BBQ candy with rock n' roll inside: outside, there is BBQ and pools. Inside the BBQ-y shell are bands. Does that make sense? Probably not. At least we didn't add chlorine to the candy, right? That's gross. And illegal. We here at THE SLEEPERS HQ like to keep things legal and BBQ.

email? They are a corporate regime known for having a monopoly on ticketing sales in the American Entertainment Industry. Their stranglehold on the control of large arena concerts makes it difficult for small companies to enter the non-existent competition of ticketing sales. We at Pearl Jam stand hard and strong against companies such as Ticketmaster, and look to perform at alternate venues to entertain our fanbase and provide an exhilerating concert experience without 'convenience charges.' Unfortunately, in our corporate, capitalistic, monopolistic society, we have been forced to succumb to said control of this entertainment industry and therefore have no choice but to allow Ticketmaster to sell tickets to our concerts over their internet-based web of corporate monopoly. Therefore, and heretofor, if you feel that the only way you may find yourself to attend the concert listed above as the DOUBLE DOOR HALLOWEEN BASH is through purchasing
tickets through Ticketmaster, we will not judge you. Just don't let them
make you pay for parking, because there are plenty of parking meters and free neighborhood spots. OK?

Point Break is a great movie, isn't it? Surfers, Bank Robbers, Surfer Bank Robbers, Bank-Robbing Surfers, Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze, Patrick Swayze's hair, Gary Busey...the list goes on.

When people ask us what time it is, we like to quote Bodhi- "The little hand says it's time to rock n' roll."

Don't like that? Fine. How about when Angelo Pappas says "Utah, gimme two!". We like to say that as well. Only he's talking about meatball sandwiches, and we're talking about Rock N' Roll (and meatball sandwiches. Or hot dogs).

THE SLEEPERS will be playing two (count em, 2) shows tomorrow, Saturday June 2.

We'll start the afternoon off at the TASTE OF DES PLAINES bright-and-early at 1PM SHARP on the main stage. This show is FREE, OK? Free. We already talked about free stuff last time. This is the pop quiz to see if you paid attention.

THEN, we'll high-tail it up I-90 to the PENNY ROAD PUB in South Barrington for a gig with our good friends INDIGNANT and THE REGRETS. Holy, holy rock n' roll. These bands kickass. Get there at 9pm, don't miss a band. Seriously.

We'll be playing the downstairs. Find the stairs, take 'em down.

OK, class. What did we learn today? We learned that when the little hand says it's time to rock n' roll, you should eat two meatball sandwiches. Right?

So anyway, The Sleepers have been chosen by Little Steven and his staff as a top 3 finalist in Chicago to be the opening act for the NEW YORK DOLLS and The Supersuckers next month when they come to town!!

The following conversation was overheard on a recent Friday night at a hip bar in a hip neighborhood of Chicago:


Judy: Hey Stan, I am bored with my life and I need some excitement.


Stan: Well Judy, why don't you go dance in traffic?


Judy: Oh Stan. I was thinking more along the lines of going to watch a great Rock N' Roll show at that really cool place on North Ave.


Stan: You mean Subterranean, at 2011 W. North Ave., Chicago, IL. 60647?


Judy: That's it, for sure.


Stan: Well it just so happens that THE SLEEPERS are playing there on Friday the 13th of October, or "Rokktober" as the cool kids call it, at 9:30pm. Also, their good friends from Milwaukee, IROCKZ, and THE GRAVETONES from Chicago will be playing as well.


Judy: Wooooooowwww. THE SLEEPERS? They are the greatest band in the world! I want to marry that drummer! He's soooooo dreamy...Hey, aren't they playing the Beer City Tattoo Convention this Friday, October 6th in Milwaukee with IROCKZ and THE LAST VEGAS?



Stan: Why yes, Judy. Yes they are. The bass player is pretty hot too, by the way. His name is Chris. He must work out.



Judy: Well, then it's settled. Friday, Rokktober 13th at Subterranean, and the show starts at 9:30pm. It will be the swellest night of my whole life. Anyone who misses this show is sure to regret their life and eventually die unsatisfied.
