My oh my where did the year go?! I'm turning a year older tomorrow (the ripe old age of 28) and will be celebrating it by djing at the legendary Endup! I'll be getting on the decks at 11-11:30p and doing a tag team set w/the birthday boy Alain Octavo from 11:30-12:30a. Going to be a fun night, so email me first and last names to get on the guestlist by 2p tomorrow!
Tonight is Hazy Sundays' House Dance Competition at the Smoke Tiki in San Jose. Come by and visit the Remix table where Phil and I will be holding down the fort! For all of you dancers, come by early to register, only 16 entrants allowed!

Next weekend, I'll be playing for one of the South Bay's favorite parties, Soul Central...thrown by Jaime Gonzales and George DeSoul! It'll be an all ladies night (minus the residents lol), so come out and support the females that make this scene happen!
Two more events coming up, Hazy Sundays on December 6th, and i'll be playing in the house room at 1015's New Years Eve bash w/Above and Beyond in the main room.
Hope you're having a great weekend!

Best Wishes!

Unexpected Enlightenment
You Never Know Who You’ll Meet
Our individual journeys take us into many unexpected situations where we encounter a wide variety of people—some quite like ourselves and some very different. We cannot anticipate these meetings, but we can make the most of them when they take place. When we are courteous as a matter of course and open-minded in our assessment of the individuals whose lives briefly touch our own, we are more apt to stumble upon surprising gems of wisdom that open our eyes to new worlds of possibility. Every person we meet can affect us profoundly, just as every situation we find ourselves in can teach us something new.

To fully embrace this fact, it is essential that we acknowledge that everyone is valuable in their own way and capable of expanding our horizons. Since we never know when we will happen upon those individuals who will unveil truths before us, we should extend to all people the same generous level of kindness, care, compassion, and understanding. When we assume everyone we meet is special and treat them as such, we can develop a strong rapport quickly. By making an effort to adopt a positive attitude toward others at all times, we ensure that our emotions do not blind us to wisdom that may be lurking in difficult or distressing situations. We are accordingly receptive to knowledge that comes to us in the form of examples, advice, and direct teaching.

These brief relationships ultimately have the potential to enrich our lives in a very concrete way. But the wisdom we gain is proportional to the attention we pay to the world around us. The responsibility is on us to maintain a state of awareness that allows us to recognize when we are in the presence of someone consciously or unconsciously in possession of knowledge that will change us significantly. When we are cognizant of the potential for unexpected enlightenment, we make a habit of turning strangers into friends, thus ensuring that we are never without a font of wisdom from which to draw.

Hey Everyone!

Long time, i've been bad and haven't kept up my myspace blogs.  I just went out of the country for most of May :D  I spent 2 1/2 weeks in China, and 1 more week in Taiwan.  It was definitely one of the best experiences, and an educational one I may add... that i've ever had in my life!  I posted some pics in my myspace albums if you wanna check it out!

I had the chance to hike up the Great Stairmaster of China (the Great Wall) the day after I arrived in Beijing.  Going up an hours worth of stairs is a b*tch, lemme tell you!  Saw the wonder that was the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an.  Visited silk factories and educated on pearls.  Did you know that if you rub two pearls together, it turns into powder and there's no damage to the pearl itself?  Plastic fakies don't do that.

Anyways, just wanted to say hi and hope everyone's been doing well!

Best Wishes!
Jamie

Jamie Lin on facebook!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jamie-Lin/47635103027

There ya go, I set up a new page in facebook. Myspace is getting confusing for me, cause they disabled the damn search feature after you go over 5,000 friends.  That just really pisses me off, cause there's so many of my friends on myspace that I would to get a hold of, but I can't find them anymore unless they leave me a comment or message :(

I've been busy and I'm going to try my best to keep blogging again like I once did :)  Not bad, 176 posts since 2005... wait, that's a shitload!  You guys should see how many emails I write in a day, its kind of getting ridiculous!

We're doing that Carl Cox event on Treasure Island on March 6th, and I hope you guys can join us!! I need to get back to designing the Opulent Temple teeshirts right now after a yummy snack :D

The Ruby Skye video shoot for Remix & Spundae went well this weekend!  I can't wait for you guys to see the video we're putting together!  Thank you to everyone who was a part of the video, and especially to DJ Dan and Donald Glaude, for letting us film their events!

Cheers!
Jamie Lin

So I got my wisdom removed last weds the 18th(the tooth I mean!), and I was loopy on anesthetics and vicodin later that day. I was pissed off trying to figure out this how to fold a teeshirt video in Japanese for the last day, cause they were folding so fast... and I couldn't understand wtf they were saying for the life of me!! I finally figure out the 2 second fold after my 30th try, and my roommate was there... I was so fucking excited I had to show him my new magic trick! We had this idea of creating our own video, to explain to others how to do it in the fun and english version! So here it is! The video I created with my roomie Jason :D

Hope you guys enjoy and may this make your laundry time go by quicker! We're going to edit a blooper reel one of these days!!

Cheers!

I can't help but say that this DailyOM horoscope was spot on today.  I just read it at 8p tonight after a day of catching up on emails and doing PR... and I was taken away by what happened today and in this horoscope.  I'm coming up for air again after being in hiding for a little while taking care of my own stuff, and i'm ready to rumble! I shit you not! Muahaahaa! Anyways, i'll keep you guys posted because this is a secret right now! Ahhh the suspense! (yes, I know i'm a nerd - i have the gaming resume to back that up)

I learned in these last two weeks, I can accomplish a ton when I don't sleep much, drink extra strong dunkin' donuts coffee (brewed by mr remix, dj liquid)... its almost like a sleep deprivation project.  One tues morning at 1a, I asked Eric for coffee, he brewed what I call crack coffee, cause it makes me wired.  I drink it, then drew this unicorn design with mushrooms for a girls tee, lol!  I get home at 3:30a, then I start on this design for some cd's for Opulent Temple.

The times I was most creative is between 1-4a, and believe me... when I worked on video games, i'd be there till the early morning hours.  I finally got that fire up to get up and not be broke anymore!  It really sucks living like a starving artist, and i'll be real... mac and cheese and ramen has been reintroduced to me in the last year, yea you know... you add an egg to make your ramen fancy! I haven't ate that much stuff like that since I went to Expression College!!  That's close to 9 years now!

Anyways, the following below is pretty cool.  I think some of you will vibe with the meaning of this message, and some of you will figure it out in the future.  I have learned to pick and choose my friends wisely... not in any mean way either, I just choose to not hang out with people that are likely to screw me over and talk shit about me behind my back.  I've learned my lesson with that from previous experiences, didn't think that was fun whatsoever.  Now I choose to surround myself with the people that motivate and inspire me to get off my ass, be creative, and most importantly, have fun with life!  Have a great weekend everyone!

*hugs*
Jamie Lin

Magic Of The Universe

Sagittarius Daily Horoscope

The emotional support and generosity you receive from the people in
your life may leave you feeling blessed today. Your gratitude could be
the result of a belief that there are miracles in this world and of an
appreciation for the ways in which the universe works its magic in your
life through the acts of generous people. Recognizing that the
abundance you receive is a gift from the universe that demonstrates its
love and hope for you may help you value your blessings even more.
Should you feel unworthy or modest when given a gift or encouragement
today, you might take some time to look more deeply into yourself.
Asking yourself what qualities you have that make others want to care
for you could help you realize that your presence in their life is a
gift as well and that you are in fact fortunate to have each other.

Knowing that we receive good things from the universe through the
kindness of others because of our own good works allows us to be truly
grateful. Instead of feeling beholden to others, once we understand
that our actions are interconnected, we can recognize that our
gratitude fuels others’ generosity and vice versa. Seeing the
interconnectedness of giving and receiving helps us notice that the
universe works through all of us to ensure that we are all taken care
of. By showing appreciation for what you receive today, the universe
will continue to work its magic through others and also through you.

Hiya! Hope all of you have been having a fabulous year so far!  I didn't really go out of my way to consider it was a new year, until Jan 25th when we asians celebrated the Lunar New Year.  My motivation for everything in life didn't really kick in until this week.... not sure if that was a mental thing, or that I needed that new moon for a boost.

I wanted to reach out to all of you guys on my myspace, to see who's going to WMC, and especially those of you that are throwing parties!!  I'm working on sponsorships and "everything but the kitchen sink" for Remix Clothing, and i'm looking for some great events we can be a part of... as well as promote the hell out of them to ensure they are great and memorable!!

Also, if anyone is looking to book a short cute asian house dj, pass them my way!!  I think its about time I attempt to book a gig there instead of drinking like a lush and partying my ass off for an entire week, teehee!

Hope all of you have been doing well!  I dropped off the face of the earth for a few months to take care of some personal issues, and i'm bouncing back like a kung fu panda on crack!  If you haven't heard from me lately, that's why.... so hope you guys know that I still love ya and am ready to play that game called life...instead of telling you Game over!!

Me luv you long time!

It's almost 2009 and we're ending the year off right! This Wednesday night is our last Love Our House event at the Zen Lounge!! Don't fret though, we're going to be back in the new year with fresh beats and a new location! Thank you to all the djs that have played, as well as our friends who've hung out, took way too many shots with me, and supported our event this past year! Definitely was a fantastic time!

This week, we're having our friend Mike Frugaletti of Good Family Recordings, along with the resident hooligans, CJL and Jamie Lin! I'm scouring for some new tracks, so you'll be in for a treat on Wednesday! Don't forget about the $1 beers, $2 champagnes, $3 kamikazees, $4 Don Julio shots before 10p!

See you this week! If you'd like to be added to my normal email list, reply back to this with your email address :D

Cheers!

THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears

With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning

 Uphill... barefoot...

BOTH ways

Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in Hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my

childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and Iook it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write

Somebody a letter, with a pen!

Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3' s or Napsters! You wanted to

steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you

Were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!

When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!!

You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video Games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen

Forever!

And you could never win. The game just kept getting

harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat

something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that!

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,

The over 30 Crowd

(Send this to someone you'd like to make smile,

Whether they are under 30 or not.)
