Friday 17th July 9pm, Coach and Horses, Isleworth. Graham lost his fight and passed away on July 2nd. His family still face huge medical bills and we are donating all proceeds from this gig to www.adonorforgraham.com
We hope to do a raffle and collection plus the bands fee for the night will go to the fund. Please come and support, help us remember Graham, celebrate with the music he loved and help his family in a small way.

Some excellent studio recordings I did with the band "Piece of Mind" are finally going to see the light of day courtesy of LOCOMOTO RECORDS. The 7 track album was recorded in 2006 and has been rebranded SONICBREW. It features Smok on guitars, myself (Ed Hudson) on drums, Mark Parkin on bass and Ian Norbury on vocals.  The band is no longer active but the music lives on. To hear two tracks (Special, Find Your Freedom) go to www.myspace.com/smokguitar  CD copies are also available for £5 from gigs or email epnhudson@live.co.uk  Any proceeds are going to Graham Barnel's fund who is still needing money for his treatment                                                  (see www.adonorforgraham.com)

If you want to book the band for a pub, club, bike rally, festival, function or whatever please email epnhudson@live.co.uk  and we'll get back to you pronto with availability. Also let us know what your budget is . Pubs gigs are around £250-£350, Functions £400-£800. Everthing is negotiable of course and depends on date, distance and circumstances . We play parties but we don't do gigs in people's front rooms or back gardens-unless it's a suitable venue for a rock band! We  provide sound system for Ipod or CD playback (and lights with backdrop) at parties so you don't have to hire a DJ as well. Leave a phone number and best time to catch you if possible. If you can't email try ringing or text 0781 8855101 .  Check www.lemonrock.com/edhudsonband for full gig list. Some pub gigs can be rescheduled to accommodate bookings for events.

Unfortunatley the Wednesday Vibe Jam has had to close..economic circumstances. The Surveyor Jam continues on the 2nd tuesday of every month. We are starting another Wednesday Jam in Epsom at the "Jolly Coopers" (check gigs for details and dates). Also doing a Sunday night Jam at "The Drill" in Worcester Park. Both these are going to start and finish earlier -about 8pm-10pm. I also sometimes front jams at the Elm tree in Surbiton with "Jam Pact" and the Bodega Bar in Croydon-Check site for dates.  All are free and musicians (acoustic or electric), bands and anyone else is welcome to come and play or to listen. Be early if you want to play (before 9pm if pos) and bring your instrument. Amps, PA, and drums are provided. The House Band (Ed, Pete and Stu-sometimes known as "The Dodgy Jammmers"!) start things off with a few songs and then guest musicians and bands get up to play, with us or on their own. The standard is usually very good and the atmosphere friendly-it's a good way to play with and get to know other musicians and live music lovers. Look forward to seeing you...

THREE STATE BLUES consists of Pete Armatage (vocals/bass), Kevin Ingles (guitar) and Ed Hudson (drums). The band is no longer actively gigging but for many years has run successful jam nights in Kingston/Surrey. Interest in our recorded back catalogue has grown with  recent radio airplay on the Planet Rock radio station (Rick Wakeman Show). "Emotional Honesty" and "Deep South" are both still available through the bands record label Locomoto Records and our website www.threestateblues.piczo.com  Although we are all now involved in different musical projects we do hope to play shows from time to time and possibly resurect a rock/blues jam night in the future. FIREWATER is a duo consisting of Ed Hudson (vocals/acoustic guitar/mandolin/harmonica) and Tim Scopes (electric guitar/backing vox/slide).  We started playing gigs together as FIREWATER in 2000 or 2001 (I can't remember precisely-it was a long time ago!). Although it started with blues based material we soon started to incorporate a lot of classic rock from the '60s and '70s. The duo format enabled us to play in pubs that would'nt normally have bands and also stretched us both in our musical abilities. We are able to do acoustic based songs that would not work well in a band format, as well as stripped down versions of out and out rockers.  During my 6 years in BAD II THE BONE we continued to play on days when our respective bands didn't have gigs (Tim still plays guitar with RED FEATHER SCRATCH-a great original blues band).

Now that I am booking all my own gigs again I have incorporated FIREWATER dates at weekends (we used to mainly play weekdays or Sundays), which are listed along side the ED HUDSON BAND gigs. Fans of FIREWATER have become EHB fans and vice versa so it makes sense to include our dates on the same gig sheets.

The Phoenix, Cavandish Square, London, 10th April 2008. Former members of Graham Barnel's band RED ROAD had a fund raising gig with their respective current bands. Graham is raising money for life saving Leukaemia treatment in the States (www.adonorforgraham.com)

The EHB and entourage arrived a little late and did a few laps of the square trying to get to the front door (one way systems!). Lots of help (thanks Lindsay, Sarah, Cath, Iain, Mark, Tim etc.) on hand to unload our bulging van.-PA, Amps, Drums, Guitars you name it. Down the stairs to a large room with a very small stage. 3am's Tim had also brought his PA system so we used our mackie speakers as monitors and it worked very well I thought. Lovemycrime's drummer helped get the kit set up while Helen (3am) and friends manned the door.

3AM kicked off their set at 8.15pm-good going considering how late we got there. They were down to a four piece (sometimes there's 6!) but still rocked up some blues classics and a couple of their own tunes. Guitarist Tim was on bass tonight and confessed he had not picked up the Rickenbaker in over 20 years. One bass solo later he was beaming and looked very happy in his new (temporary) role. Andy coped well with the "tarzan style" drum kit, sounding very tight. Iain seemed pleased with my amp set up and with Helen's powerful singing and presence the whole band got things of to a good start.

EHB were next up, starting with Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak. Luckily nothing broke, the sound was OK and we rushed through our short set...Wild flower, No one Knows, The Seeker, Times like These, ending with Highway Star. Two or three people were filming and taking pictures at the front and what with lights etc. I didn't really get to see peoples reaction much but there was plenty of cheering at the end of songs-hopefully people liked us. We left out one song (Sin City) being aware of how things were already running late. Kev (drums) and Pete (bass) did a great job and we were just getting warmed up when we finished-it's not often we play only a 25 min set and it made a nice change!

LOVEMYCRIME  played a good set of original songs. Line up of guitar, bass, drums and a female lead singer. RED ROAD's Mark Coles was using his new white Gibson Thunderbird through his own Ampeg rig and as usual had a great sound-big but not too boomy. The rest of the band sang and played well, their style being different to both EHB and 3AM- more indy, rock and punk influences and less of the blues.

After a while setting up CHARIOT were on stage. Their drummer Jeff was in RED ROAD with Graham (10 years ago) and none of his power had diminshed over the years. Despite problems with the sound balance for the first couple of songs (Singer Pete Franklin's guitar was inaudible) they carried on regardless. Proper Heavy Metal. When the other guitarist in the band gave up one of his two Roland amps for Pete to use, their sound tightened up and "Behind the Wire " sounded awesome. After some good old fashioned head banging and forays into the crowd Pete started winning over any doubters. This guy has a lot of  charm and charisma and his enthusiasm is infectious. Lead guitarist Paul played effortlessly and blindingly with John on bass providing solid, driving bass and excellent backing vocals.

There had been talk of a end of night "jam" with RED ROAD and others but after four bands and a long night it seemed a bit too much. People had all been very generous and supportive of the bands and were now starting to drift off to catch trains etc. It was time to go home after a successful night so we packed away and headed home.

Thanks to everyone who came and donated so generously, we raised £1063 for www.adonorforgraham.com  .  Thanks to all the bands, a great chance to get together with old friends once more-best wishes to you all in the future!

Ed.

My good friend Graham Barnel urgently needs to raise money to pay for treatment for his leukemia. For details www.myspace.com/adonorforgraham or www.adonorforgraham.com . We met in the mid 1990’s both playing in the band RED ROAD. Graham met his future wife Sam at one of our gigs in London and after some time in London they moved to Sam’s native Australia where they married and have two children Jack and Poppy. We have always stayed in touch by letter, visits to the UK, and more recently email. Graham is a wonderful guy with a great family and is struggling to raise $500,000 for treatment in the US which has an 80% success rate. In Ausralia where he lives, this treatment only has 30% success rate. Finding a bone marrow donor has been very hard for Graham. He is adopted so has no blood family network and also his type is rare-part Native American. In the absence of a donor this costly treatment is his only hope.

Please log onto his websites to find out more and to make any kind of donation.

Some of Graham’s friends and former band mates (me included) are having a fund raising benefit gig on Thursday 10th April at the Phoenix, 37 Cavendish Square, W1G 0PP. Bands include - CHARIOT, EHB, 3AM, LOVE MY CRIME. Please come and support.....

Many Thanks, ED
