Current mood:  excited

So it has been pretty quiet in the TKB camp for the past few months after our show with two phenomenal bands called All Get Out, and All the Day Holiday.  It appears our search for a new lead guitarist is finally coming to an end, which is a relief after a few failed attempts.

 ....

Shows:  We are aiming for a show in November some time, on a Saturday in Bowling Green.  We have been offered shows in various other places already, but we want to play in BG because that is where most of our fan base resides.  And also by to how close all the venues are to campus and apartments on Main St. is perfect so people don’t have to go out of their way to see us.  We too have finally changed our set, and we are SO STOKED to play the new songs for you.

 ....

Music:  Currently, we are writing music for our new EP called “Jonah” and have two songs done for it and are looking to write two more before (hopefully) recording it in the spring. The biggest difference that is going between AYVLSTS is with this new EP we did not put so much emphasis on sounding different.  We are writing what is coming out of our instruments and pens, and trying not to tweak everything as much as we did with our debut.  While lyrically it still won’t be that straight forward, musically it will be a lot more structured.  We want to see which formula people, us included, like better.

 ....

Goal:  We want to keep spreading our music and widening our audience and getting our music to as many people as we can.

 ....

Our good friend Eric MacDonald has a new project called Irela, which is more or less along the lines of MuteMath/Copeland/Anberlin sort of deal.  Very likeable stuff, we promise.  They have a Battle of the Bands coming up down in Cincinnati, OH if any of you are from that area we encourage you to go out and support them!!!

 ....

Thanks for sticking by us, taking a few seconds to read this, downloading our music, and just overall giving us the time of day.

 ....

While "All You Vessels Look/Sound the Same" is not a concept album by any means, it was created to stand apart from the over-saturated with suck music scene that we find ourselves a part of.

The title is simply a bash on all the kids that you see at concerts/in the scene that all "Look/Sound the Same". A bunch of people trying hard to be "individual" but all they do is pigeon hole themselves in less popular trends. But IT IS STILL A TREND, thus trying to go out of your way to be "yourself" and "individual" these kids are in fact STILL conforming...just to something that is less popular. But does it matter? No. It's still conforming.

So with these four songs, we tried our hardest to set ourselves apart from bands on the radio and bands on the underground alike. We crafted songs that we felt are refreshing and original, songs that people can't put their finger on all our different influences. Whereas SOO many other bands you can listen to them and be like "Oh, they like Underoath", "Oh, they must be fans of Blink", "Oh they must love FTSK". It's just ridiculous.

Long story short(er) we feel this EP is a perfect representation of standing apart from such a cookie-cutter music industry. A place where people are far too concerned with numbers (myspace friends/plays, purevolume plays, etc.) and could give a care less about the raw emotion and originality that is so far and few between.

We encourage you to find that emotion, that passion, that originality- like in bands such as: Lydia, All the Day Holiday, M83, P.O.S., Matthew Good, and As Cities Burn just to name a few. And disregard all the "myspace bands" that will come and go with the setting sun.

Thank you so much for supporting us. We'll be riding the wave of AYVLSTS for a while, so stay on the look out for some sick shows with some amazing bands.

Live above yourself...

So we haven’t blogged for a while so here’s a run down of what’s going on…

*Our first show opening for Vesta, Traveling by Sea and a bunch of other awesome dudes was AMAZING. We had a crowd of +70, and could not have been able to ask for more.

*Our next show, opening for some myspace electronica/pop/we don’t even know what on earth to call it dude called Represent! was interesting to say the least…

*We have a show this Wednesday opening for an absolutely amazing band called Lydia, and we could not be more stoked about this.

*Also, in regards to “All You Vessel’s Look/Sound the Same” it will be (hopefully) finished mixing this coming Tuesday.

*A website is in the works and hopefully should be up and running by this coming fall at the very latest.

Now for some “deeper” stuff. First and foremost we don’t believe in the nonsense of “paying your dues”.  We are not going to play every single show we can lay our hands on JUST to say we played another show. We love our music, and this band, and take freaking enormous pride in who we play a show with. So we apologize if we have/will decline opening up for some no-name band at some no-name bar OR not opening up for some horrible, well known band at some horrible, well known club. We love our music far too much to sink down to the level of not playing shows with bands whose music we actually really and truly love. So we DO apologize for being “those guys” to venues who host amazing and legit bands who we will be constantly messaging/emailing/calling to have a short opening slot for these shows. We assure you, we’re not doing it for the “money” or “exposure” but because we freaking love the bands and our music, and think they would all get along great.

Also, this summer while we will be ridding the little, tiny, baby wave of “All You Vessels Look/Sound the Same”, we are going to start writing our first full length album.  Looking at the calendar, we should have it written by the winter and hope to go into the studio yet again in late spring. We don’t believe in being stagnated, we want to keep the ball rolling as fast and as hard as we can.  In our wishful thinking world, we would LOVE to have an awesome indie label financially backing the recording of our LP but we’re just going to put all of those great ambitions in God’s hands. J

Thank you SOOO MUCH for paying attention to our music, for what little we have to offer, and supporting us by simply reading our blogs, downloading our songs or whatever trite little things that end up meaning so much to us all. God bless and hope to see you at a show soon!!!!

Current mood:  stressed
Hey Guys! It's been quite a while since our last blog, see it's time for a little update.

Recording for our debut EP "All You Vessels Look/Sound the Same" is finally completed at Fresh Squeeze Studio's by Justin Price. We are totally beyond stoked for everyone to hear it. We hope it will be something very fresh for your little ears to soak in. It will be released, for free, (at least) by early May, via torrents, limewire, CD-R's...ANYTHING to get it in your hands!!! We're already writing a few new songs that will be played at our first show on April 25th so we super excited about that too. Honestly, we just can't wait to get feedback from you guys about how you think we sound/who you think we sound like. Basically, we are all on pins and needles until we can post some tracks on here for you to indulge in. Our hopes is that it is WAY better than that pop/punk/screamo/cookie-cutter crap that the Northwest, Ohio music scene is saturated with. So here's to trying!!! Haha. Anywho, SUPER STOKED for you dudes to hear them (in case you haven't picked up on that yet.....) and we'll be sure to keep you updated on for sure dates/where you can find it (assuming you'd actually like it.....).

It's been quite a while with no real updates or news so here we go...

First, let's talk about our first show. April 25, 2009 @ Howard's Club H, 9:00 pm opening for one of our favorite local bands Goodnight, Sleep Well AND Vesta. Vesta, happens to consist of 3/5 members of what used to be called THE JULIANA THEORY. Don't know if you can tell, but we're pretty stoked about this. They have been a major influence on our music. Nothing like opening for one of your idols for your first show. :-D

"All You Vessels Look/Sound the Same" will be the title of our 5 song debut EP, being recorded, produced and mixed by Justin Price @ Fresh Squeeze Studios. We will be hitting the studio on March 19 and will be in there probably right up to our show, if not then a week or so after that too. All the songs are musically finally done, and we're just working on the lyrics to what will be the last song on the C.D. We're still tossing around ideas as to how to get the music to you guys. Wether we should give it away online, send them off to Discmakers...but we'll see!

We also have our first radio interview and performance coming up a few weeks before our first show, so be sure to check that out. Also, we'll be doing a few little acoustic shows here and there. For more details on both of those, just check out the show details!!!

Thank you all so much who take the time to read this and care about this band. We promise the wait will be worth it.
