We had an enormous year in 2008, with over 30 music videos completed and a record-breaking 17 Nominations for Best Of 2008!

2009 is already in gearing up to be awesome with videos coming from VANNA, THY WILL BE DONE, RED CAR WIRE and the LIVE DVD from THE ACACIA STRAIN!

It is nearly impossible to articulate how thrilled and proud Allie and I are.  I honestly can't even believe it as I type it...

This year, we were awarded the record number of nominations for BEST MUSIC VIDEO in the 20 year history of HEADBANGER'S BALL.  Thanks so much to MTV, and especially Lyndsay, for playing the videos and helping to promote the music we all love.

We love making music videos.  We love the bands who bring so much emotion to their craft.  We love the music.  We love our awesome crew - East Coast and West Coast - who contribute so much joy, energy and expertise to our projects - and who have become our friends.

We here at MYGOODEYE are thrilled, delighted, humbled, elated and very, very happy (all of which means just about the same thing) that MTV2 will be playing FIVE of our videos on this weekend's HEADBANGER'S BALL! 

We're pretty sure that no other Director/Production Company has ever had as many play in a single episode - so we really are besides ourselves with happiness...

Besides happy for ourselves, we are really glad that these bands will get the exposure they deserve and for 2 of them, see themselves for the very first time in their careers on MTV2!

So, if you put down the hotdog and beer long enough to plop your ass in front of the TV on Saturday, you're going to see:

MTV2's HEADBANGER'S BALL (the real one, yes), is airing FOUR of our videos on this Saturday's episode - that's April 19th (check your local listings for time).  I know for sure that we've never had quite so much love showered upon us by the divine MTV2 staff and I hope they read this so they can see me say:

THANK YOU MTV2!

You'll be able to see

SOILENT GREEN : ANTIOXIDANT for it's second play (of hopefully many, many more).  Don't forget that you can watch the director's cut on-line which has some more tongue ;)

SUICIDE SILENCE : BLUDGEONED (on it's fifth as far as I can tell)

HATE ETERNAL : BRINGER OF STORMS (also on five spins, fuckin'-A, Rutan rules!)

...and they dug one up from a few months back (and we're glad they did 'cause this vid/band deserve all the exposure they can get) THE RED CHORD : DREAD PREVAILED (going on it's eighth play).

All in glorious full color and on your big screens.  Don't get me wrong, we love MySpace and YouTube video, but nothing beats watching it big...

Oddly, Allie and I are going to have to watch it in OKLAHOMA.  We're heading down there for the weekend to work with Nuclear Blast's BLEED THE SKY (thanks to Christy Priske for hooking us up with them) and from what I can tell, we're going to have a southern BBQ as well.  We're looking forward to it.

Last on the list of things:

The ARSIS video is DONE!  (yes, you read that right... I know we shot it in October, but the CD just dropped yesterday, so what can I tell ya?)... and it features some cartoon/animesque monsters and a dude with a nasty right hook. Took me a little time to get that stuff rendered, but I think it's awesome... hope you agree... You'll see it soon.

ORIGIN is done also... and also coming soon.  Really, you have to watch these guys play.  I alternate between wanting to grab a guitar and knowing I'm not worthy... awesome.

EKOTREN is in it's final stages - we shot the narrative a few days ago - and thanks go out to our cast for being perfect.  More on that when it drops.  The band is gearing up for a national tour, so be sure to head out and say hello.

KATAKLYSM is done also!  Just waiting on the release date to arrive so we can show you what might be the coolest, and most random, spiral staircase in the world!  hahaha... also, we can show you how natural performers rock.

BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CRYPTOPSY and OPIATE FOR THE MASSES are being edited as I type (well, as I type, I'm actually rendering a HD file for ORIGIN... which is why I have some time to type... hahah).

It's a great thing to be able to work with so many talented musicians/performers, and every now and again I have to take a moment to thank them for giving us the chance to work with them... while it may sound like an overstatement, it's really an honor to work with all of these folks...

And we have more stuff coming around the corner, so keep an eye out...

Allie and I are headed out to sunny California in a few hours (and we’re both STILL sunburnt from our trip to Miami last weekend) to shoot CENTURY MEDIA’s latest acquisition:

... and hopefully to get some quick quality time in with our West Coast pals.

We’re going to blow shit up.  I don’t mean it figuratively, like "we’re gonna blow this place up"... I mean it literally, like "we hired an awesome pyro guy and he’s gonna blow shit up".  Totally psyched for this.

MTV2’s HEADBANGER’S BALL (not the fake site... hahaha) has just picked up our video for SWORN ENEMY’S "A Place of Solace".  We’re going to let the internet "hits" go to them for another week or so, then we’ll post it here...

and HATE ETERNAL’S "Bringer of Storms" airs AGAIN!

I can’t say for sure, but it feels like we’ve had at least one video air on HBB every week for over a year!  We’re super proud of that... growing up, who woulda thought my stuff would be on MTV?!?!?  Crazy...

...and THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD’s "Failure in the Flesh" holds steady in MUSIC CHOICE’S Video on Demand TOP 10 for its fifth month!

So, it’s been a damn busy couple of weeks... but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What a month!  Today, we proudly release our video for SUICIDE SILENCE's "BLUDGEONED".  Originally conceived as an MTV-friendly video to counter the fact that their first video was declined by the mighty power-brokers at Viacom for inappropriate content.

Not being content to make the "also-ran" video, we pulled out the stops and put together, what we think, is one of our finest!

Shot and animated by me, David and a grand-slam edit by Allison Woest we hope you enjoy it!  Let us know.

ANd let's not forget the incredible HATE ETERNAL!  The "BRINGER OF STORMS" video was shot under the worst of conditions for the band... they endured a long haul to NY, a van accident, and 40 hours with no sleep to pull in and shoot with us.  Absolute professionals and amazing guys.

Both videos are available all over the 'net and, of course, on our sites.

We also just spent the weekend shooting videos for KATAKLYSM and EKOTREN!  Both of which will be heading your way shortly!  And on the near horizon, SOILENT GREEN!

FULL BLOWN CHAOS :

We release FULL BLOWN CHAOS "HALOS FOR HEROES" to the world!  This video holds a special place for us since Ray and Co have grown to be good, good friends.  It was an honor to work with them and a great priveledge to collaborate with FBC on the story for the video.

KARATE HIGH SCHOOL :

It is also with great happiness that we "officially" release our campy, cartoon, homage to 80s horror : KARATE HIGH SCHOOL'S "BURNING UP FOR YOU".  Hand-drawn and animated by me (David Brodsky) it marks probably the first time in a long time that I grabbed a pen and got back to drawing.  For those of you that didn't know, I once was an illustrator/painter.  It was fantastic to stretch those muscles again for such a wonderful band.  Great guys!  Catchy song!  Hope you enjoy.

MIKE DOUGHTY :

And, way back in about 1995 a woman named Paula (who played in a band called BRIGHT RED DRESS here in NYC) handed me a life-changing CD.  

From the first minute of SOUL COUGHING'S "RUBY VROOM" I was hooked on MIKE DOUGHTY'S unique blend of groove and quirk.  DOUGHTY'S work, first with SOUL COUGHING and then as a solo artist has been a mainstay of my various CD and MP3 players for over a decade - and I recommend you check it out whenever you can.  With that in mind, it was a mind-blowing experience to actually get to WORK with the man.  

DOUGHTY'S latest song 27 JENNIFER's, from the ATO RECORDS CD "GOLDEN DELICIOUS" was shot and directed completely by DOUGHTY and features, if you can believe it, 26 Jennifers...  if you listen to the lyrics, you'll know why.  

Mike turned out to be a damn fine editor as well, as he combed through over 7 hours of footage to provide me with the best of it...

...a consumate professional and gentleman, it was a (seriously) a damn fine thing to help him get "27 JENNIFERS" to you.
