We're up for a couple of Sydney Music Art and Culture awards, which we probably won't win, but who gives a fuck hey? Well, I do, obviously. I'm just frightened to admit it.

Please vote for us in the Best Sydney Song category, and the Best Live Act one also, and for my sister Yael Stone, who is nominated in the Best Performer category.

Fankyou,

Jake

Bluejuice have spent their few weeks off arguing about who they’d prefer to take out for a meal: Hulk Hogan or Kenny Sutcliffe. The Hulk would have some great tips on kneading a man’s face, but one gets the impression that Kenny is a real smooth dancer. You see where the conundrum lies.

Anyway, in case you were unaware, the band just released their second album, ‘The Head Of The Hawk’ (currently #37 on the ARIA charts!). It’s full of melody and rhythm and harmony, and most other things found in anthropological studies of Western popular music (like the rhyming of ‘baby’ with ‘maybe’, and ‘fly’ with ‘so high’). The band are very proud of this album – it’s a ‘ball-tearer’, as Jamie’s Dad might say.

They’re SO proud in fact, that they’re putting up with each other’s vile body odours and increasingly obvious mental deficiencies and hitting the road, in honour of ‘Head Of The Hawk’. Each gig will begin with a sombre prayer session and an animal sacrifice to a 10x10ft CD art mockup, and the band will perform in a boiling cauldron*, the contents of which will be served to the non-vegetarian members of the audience at the end. The band of course, will be dead after one show, but for such a cause! It’s going to be religious, motherf*ckers.

The things listed here are of such unfathomable magnitude that they all deserve their own blog posts. But everyone loves a numbered list, don't they?

1. The Broken Leg clip is available everywhere, including right here on this myspace page. Here's a link to youtube. You can also catch it on Channel [V], j tv, Rage and elsewhere.

2. Broken Leg is also available to buy from the usual places. iTunes, Bigpond etc.

3. We have a brand new website! A toddler with a tub of play doh and a mallet could have made a more technologically advanced website than our last attempt, so it is with great pride that we reveal www.bluejuice.info - this time with actual content!

4. The Broken Leg Tour is coming up. Details are displayed in an aesthetically-pleasing fashion on the aforementioned website, as well as in a slightly less interesting manner here on www.myspace.com/bluejuice.

5. Splendour In The Grass was amazing. Thanks to everyone who compromised their hygiene to cram into that sweaty tent. We love you.

We're done I think.

After a year of chasing futile dreams on a Russian salmon farm, bluejuice have returned with a new single, a new album, and a modest bag of salmon.

“Broken Leg”, the first single from their upcoming sophomore record is blustering bit of anthemic pop – an uptempo ode to being a limping miseryguts. Never before have 80s-themed existential crises inspired such a need to dance or sing so joyously. Alright, maybe “Jessie’s Girl”...

“Broken Leg” was recorded with Brooklyn, NYC producer Chris Shaw, who’s previously worked with Bob Dylan, Public Enemy, Weezer, Ween and also remixed Paula Abdul. His American accent allowed the band a long-awaited opportunity to pretend they were living in an episode of Full House (the one where John Stamos’ cousin, Stavros, comes to visit), and recording in Sydney finally gave Chris the chance to work 13 hours a day, and then order a burrito in another hemisphere. The result of this beautiful marriage is "Broken Leg" (and some more stuff that you'll need to wait for).

You can listen to the new single on their myspace page right now! No sh*t!

Triple J are playing it too, so feel free to coerce Rosie to play it more over at
Super Request.

bluejuice loves you.

On the advice of their producer and herbalist, Dr Chris Shaw, bluejuice are emerging, filthy and mole-eyed, from the studio they have been inhabiting for the last month. During the course of recording their (very nearly finished) new album, they’ve all developed severe Vitamin D deficiencies, and Stav in particular is addicted to eating the ornamental fish out of the studio fish tank, which is quite a concern for someone who claims to be a vegetarian. To cure these ills, bluejuice are venturing into the fresh air and hitting the road with their pals, Philadelphia Grand Jury, in May and June. It promises to be quite therapeutic for everybody.

Hello. We are taking a break from recording our second album to play at The Hopetoun Hotel (my place of employment) on Wednesday May 6.

The lineup for the gig is awesome...

Deep Sea Arcade - 8:30pm through 9:15pm

The Jezabels - 9:30pm through 10:15pm

bluejuice - 10:30pm through till whenever...

And we'll play a bunch of the new songs from the record we've been making for the last month or so with our Grammy-winning producer, Chris Shaw (aka Black Rage).

Come along, because I'm lonely.

Have you ever been to our website? It is really shit. We are the least technologically-savvy band in history, apart from perhaps Timmy Trumpet or somebody.

Anyway, we're attempting to broaden the scope of our ignorance, particularly since we're in the studio at the moment, and there's not much else to do. So we've started up a bunch of those sites that all the kids seem to enjoy.

We're not sure how to use most of them yet, but here are the links:

After 18 months of annoying our audiences by playing new songs instead of those off 'Problems', we're finally going into the studio to record again.

A day or two after the Bacardi Express jaunt finishes, we're going to hole up with producer/mixer Chris Shaw, who has worked with Bob Dylan, Public Enemy, Super Furry Animals, Weezer and LOADS more.

We are EXCITED. It is EXCITING.

Here's a list of tunes we may or may not record. You may know some of them already, and if not, well... this is just a meaningless list of random words. Enjoy!

Hey all,
I've got a band with my sister called The Break-Up, which is pretty awesome. James, our drummer, also plays in bluejuice. In any case, we're playing an 8:30pm show with Deep Sea Arcade and Elana Stone (my sister, who is also the singer on that song 'Your Call' by Hermitude, headlining in her own band) on Sunday March 22nd at Spectrum on Oxford St. (Q Bar).
We'd love to see any Sydney people who want to check us out there. It's ten bucks, and we're on at 8:30pm.
