We've kept this quiet but..

"frankly bonkers" is what the devil has the best tuna said about our Chistmas song "Shout for Trout at Christmas dinner".

get it here

Our album is done.  Complete.  Over.  Still no name.   So until a name comes to mind it will remain unreleased.  The only place you can hear it is on Cloudsounds wow.

Current mood:  awake

We spent all last night writing our new biography.  We felt the old one didn't tell you enough about who we are and where we come from so this one should be a little better.  Jonah from the forest said "it reads like a beatrix potter story".  I don't know if that's a good or bad thing but I suppose that means its easy to read.  Oh you should go to The Forest's myspace http://myspace.com/theforestofmanchester and listen to Lion Out.  Its out and its great!! My favorite track on there is "The lion's mighty roar"  I was singing to myself all last night.

I'd like to say sadly Cookie Cutterr are no longer going to be gigging.  This is very sad because they were a great band.  Kyle said he couldn't cope with the band anymore and has decided to stop doing it.  They might still be recording songs though so who knows.

Our album is nearly done.  We have two more songs left and we're thinking of a title for it.  It's going to be great.  We're really excited.  After two months of being on the verge of quiting I'm thinking more positively about the band again.  I guess I can never quit not really.  I love music.  I can't get away from it.  It's what I'm supposed to do.  I know it.

We sacked the band

no no.. not us..

I was speaking to Andrew from (Amida, Cookie Cutterr) yesterday afternoon and he mentioned that this is what Cookie Cutterr had called their first album.

I presume the band they were talking about was myself and Ted.  I did promise not to get offended when he revealed this to me but somehow I was.

Going back a bit Ted and I were in Cookie Cutterr for a little while.  We had a great time playing mostly Kyle's songs and one of Andrew's songs.  We really enjoyed it and it gave us a chance to play along to great songs with any instrument we wished to take on.  Shortly before Kyle decided to 'sack' us myself and Ted were worried that maybe we didn't have enough time to be in Cookie Cutter.  So when Kyle sent me an email asking us to leave the band we were happy the feelings were mutual.  I guess now it feels like there was more of a joke or a grudge against us.  Why?

Andrew did say it was a joke and that him and kyle didn't mean anything by it but I have to admit it made me feel a little sad.  Ted and I really like Kyle and Andrew and I'm sure this won't change how we feel but after dweling on it a little too much last night I realised it was the term 'sacked' that hurt.

I can't stressed enough how great "Cookie Cutterr" are!! and we really love them personally and through the music and I suppose in someway it was nice the album title was about us.

Writing, recording, practicing, playing and putting on our own night argh!!!

Ted and Maria are no longer playing with Kyle and Andrew.  We did still invite them to play Paper Scissors Glue and they seemed to have enjoyed themselves.  I (Maria) nearly got to play percussion.  It was a contingency plan in case Andrew didn't make it in time.  He did in the end though.

We recorded seven tracks and decided that only three of those are good enough to keep as they are.  We need to re-record the drums for two of them and the other two rejects are now c
ompletely different.  One of them is now played twice as fast as it is on the recording and the other has undergone a complete re-write.

We keep changing our songs but we can't help it.  We need to feel that we really love them.

We are playing the Cornerhouse on the 11th of august as you may have noticed from the gig listings.  This will be a radio session for an artist called David Blandy www.davidblandy.co.uk.  We will probably be collaborating with an MC.  We were asked to do a cover of a song by a Manchester band but we don't think we will have time while we are busy recording and re-writing.  It's a shame really.  You should come and see us play though.  Or listen on the radio.

The reason we singled that gig out is because it needs a little more explaining than the others.  You should come down to all our gigs :)

OK.  that's it for now.  More to come later when we have made more progress.

Hello,

News..   Alan has re-joined the band.  Some myspace people might not know who Alan is so come down to our gig in august because he's playing.  If you don't well you just won't understand how great it is to watch Alan play drums.

We're going into the studio(our front room) to record songs.  Good things coming in the near future so don't stop visiting our myspace page.

If you notice a slight change of tone in this blog well you can blame Cloudsounds myspace.com/soundofacloud.  I (maria) have been listening to him so much I'm starting to talk like Ted (yes another Ted) who records the show every week from his bedroom.  This is not a bad thing because he is great!!! honestly.. and he plays our music every so often so its got to be great :)

One more thing is that Maria(that's me) and Ted are currently playing in another band with Kyle and Andrew (from Amida).  We are doing mostly Kyle's songs and some of Andrew's songs.  More to come..

ok that's enough..
