We are breaking radio silence to report that Anthony Dihle, the skilled graphic designer and printmaker responsible for our most recent albu m cover as well as show posters past, is displaying selections from his larger body of work at Sweet: The Graphic Beauty of the Contemporary Rock Poster, showing through March 29th at The Art Gallery at the University of Maryland, College Park. This from yesterday's DCist:
"Curated by University of Maryland Department of Art printmaking professor Justin Strom, and by The Art Gallery's Exhibition Designer, John Shipman, the show includes work from over 25 artists, whose work is displayed on almost all available wall and column space at the gallery. Each artist's work is grouped together, but this small organizational feat doesn't diminish the uncertainty over where to start looking. Bands such as Spoon, the Shins, Queens of the Stone Age, and Modest Mouse are well represented...
Local artist Anthony Dihle also represents the home town in the show. Dihle works mostly with local D.C. bands and venues and is inspired by D.C. imagery – metro tunnels are a common them in his work – as well as the sound of the band. The slimmer dimensions of Dihle's poster for a Lejeune show (pictured left) makes for an interesting composition. The subtle coloring of the sunset over the row houses puts emphasis on the band's name and helps it stand out."
We are very pleased to have worked with Anthony for the last couple of years and happy to see his talents receiving greater attention. His designs are already hot commodities on the street. Of course, we've learned this hard way: any Dihle-designed Lejeune poster doesn't stay up for long, forcing us to be strategic in how and when we post them.

On Tuesday (10.16.2007), the vigilant tastemakers at DC's Brightest Young Things featured a 'Listening Party' for Lejeune's For Club and Country. The feature showcases the songs from the album, providing a little bit of backstory for each. It's a fine way to spend a few minutes not doing the thing you're supposed to be doing.
Enjoy!

Baltimore's gentle blogger, Any Given Tuesday, had very nice things to say about our latest recorded effort. And though he actually published these thoughts in late August...they still ring true today.
Read for yourself.

Here on the lower east side, Lejeune prepares for a show at Mo Pitkin's House of Satisfaction, each in their own way. From left to right, J. is determined to wake up before the doors open. Ody is trying to figure out why Dane Cook is on the side of every NYC bus. Matthew is calling roommate Brad, unsure of if he left the coffee maker on. Greg coordinates a real estate deal from the sidewalk like a true New Yorker. Sam gets ready by documenting the event like a German with a new Hassleblad.

Well, we are playing at IOTA tonight and I'm happy about this because its hot outside but its nice and cool in there.( Sam and I were there last night and the AC was a blowin.) Our new friends Misfortune 500 from Athens were really great and we had fancy conversation about BBQ. I also love playing there because it sounds so good. I may even have a liquor drink or two before we take the stage. So come on out friends and chill after a hot work week. Have a drink, imbibe a little rock, and lets talk about smoked pork. Matthew

For Club and Country received a thorough examination from music critic Mark Jenkins on today's transmission of Metro Connection, on DC's NPR affiliate WAMU.
Though Jenkins offered many an analytical gem, he nicely summed up the Lejeune dynamic with the following: "Lejeune constructs a minimalist theatrical dialog between the vocals and the stately guitar and keyboard riffs."
The entire broadcast will air again on Saturday, July 14th at 5am ET, as well as on Monday, July 16th at 2am ET. Should those times prove to be inconvenient, the segment is available for streaming via the following links:

Thanks to all who came out and stuck around for our Fort Reno debut last night. Good vibes warded off the threatening clouds and live music won the day.
Special thanks to the dancing and hand-clapping youth. You and your moves are welcome anytime! Though, I would imagine some times are more appropriate than others. Use your best judgement.
Special thanks to Amanda and all involved with the Fort Reno concert series---appreciate your having us on. Twas truly a pleasure. Good morning.

Our new album "For Club and Country" (see reviews below) is now available via
- CDBABY -- on CD for $10, $8 for 2 or more
- AMIE ST -- MP3s starting at $.18, $2.25 for the entire album
Why so crazy cheap? AMIE ST invites music fans to experiment with new music, encouraging adventurousness by initially offering new music for pennies. An album's price increases as more people purchase it. So while "For Club and Country" is $2.25 now, it might not be for long. Have at it, y'all!
Thanks in advance for picking up (some or all of) "For Club and Country!" Once you have a listen, tell us what you think. Even better, please tell a friend or leave a "review" on our CDBaby, iTunes or AMIE Street pages. Thanks!
- Sam
Here's what some folks are saying already...
--Washington Post: "...from Sam Bishop's vocals to the grand, fleshed-out arrangements [For Club and Country] isn't simple, guitar-based indie rock; it's something bigger, and the quintet does a fine job pulling off the complicated sound."
--Instrumental Analysis: "It's a cohesive album that is enjoyable from the opening notes of "Your Serene Saturday Night" through the fade out of "Good Times." In between, exists an album full of jangly guitar, enough riffs to write a textbook and some of the most intelligent lyrics that DC has ever produced."
--On Tap Magazine: "While the sound of this band falls within the sprawling indie genre, Lejeune's confident displays separate them easily from those who are merely well dressed and in possession of a Smiths record or two."
