Current mood:  adventurous

Hello Pony fancier,

I hope this finds you in fine fettle. We've got some proper news for a change...

'If These Are The Good Times', our much delayed second album will finally see the light of day on 9th November and should be available via all the usual channels (HMV, Amazon, Play, iTunes, emusic etc). The good people at Maverick magazine have described it as 'a magnificent record'. We're just glad to have finally finished the bloody thing.

I'm not sure if you can really call it a tour (we'll be driving home in the middle of the night and dragging ourselves into work the next day), but we've got a fair few gigs lined up between now and the end of the year:

Sunday 25th October - Oxjam @ The Dragon Hall, ....Norwich....

Sunday 1st November - Start The Bus, ....Bristol....

Thursday 5th November - Lantern Society @ The Betsey Trotwood, ....London....

Friday 6th November - Monkey Chews, ....London....

Sunday 22nd November - The Hope, ..Brighton..

Wednesday 25th November - The Tin Angel, ....Coventry....

Friday 27th November - High Barn, Great Bardfield

Wednesday 16th December - Bitterscene @ The Bassment Club, ....Chelmsford....

Saturday 19th December - Ciarafest 14 @ The ..Portland.. Arms, ....Cambridge....

We've not played a lot of these places before, so if you've got any impressionable friends who live in ....Coventry...., do point them in our direction.

Also, become our fan on Facebook:

www.facebook.com/ThePonyCollaboration

We've not got very many at the moment.

Or follow us on Twitter:

We've not tweeted anything yet, but when we do it's sure to be momentous.

That's all for now...

Howdy.

Being an 8-piece bastard child band of two cities can have its drawbacks - our masses of screaming, adoring, verging-on-the-obsessive fans in either London or Cambridge often find it difficult to make it to gigs held in their respective 'away' grounds.

As such we've got gigs in both ..Cambridge.. AND ....London.... in early October as part of our ongoing pimp-a-thon for our new album 'If These Are The Good Times', both of which promise to be pretty great.

On Saturday 3rd October, we're doing the Octopus Ride night at The Globe on

..Hills Road.., ..Cambridge..
. We've done this before and it's wicked; free entry, always good bands and a great atmosphere. We'll be doing a longer set than usual too, giving you a bit of a Pony history lesson - old ones, current ones and brand spanking new ones.

Then on Wednesday 7th October we're doing Goo Nite at The Buffalo Bar in Highbury (8pm, £5). It's their weekly indie, poppy, alternative-y night with a great range of music in a cool venue where you can quite literally dance your socks off. Please note The Pony Collaboration cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage incurred to socks while attending this gig. Although we will feel sorry for you. Probably.

Fanks,

The Pony Collaboration

Hello, How are you? Good.

Our eponymously titled debut album (arf!) is released on Monday 2nd April. Here's what some nice people have had to say about it:

'A brilliant and beautiful debut long-player. as a homegrown response to all things 'Americana', this oozes quality and delicate charm' 10/10

Whisperin & Hollerin

'This really is delightfully uplifting and positively charming. Just perfect pop, perfect tunes, perfect production, perfect textures, everything feels just so right. Loaded with warmth and soul and maybe even a hint of breezy Northern Soul in there with the strings and the glockenspiel and melodica and the refined percussion. Positively lazy pop to get lost in for hours and hours - recommended'

Organ

'Everything is in place; these Ponies are going to be at the front of the British Americana race'

Americana UK

'This quintessentially British album reeks of quality. Simply divine'

The Morning Star

Available in all good record shops (although that list may subsequently need to be revised) and on Amazon, Play, HMV etc

Go on, treat yourself. You deserve it.

We're also out on tour over the next couple of weeks:

Tuesday 3rd April - The Boileroom, Guildford
Thursday 5th April - The Portland Arms, Cambridge
Friday 6th April - The Glass Onion, Peterborough
Saturday 7th April - The Prince of Wales, Kettering
Monday 9th April - The Grey Horse, Kingston upon Thames
Tuesday 10th April - The Old Wharf, Birmingham
Wednesday 11th April - The Head of Steam, Newcastle upon Tyne
Friday 13th April - The Kro Bar, Manchester
Saturday 14th April - The Sumac Centre, Nottingham

With a gig at the Windmill in Brixton to follow...

That's all for now...

Current mood:  savage
Hello mortals,

Over the next couple of weeks, The Pony Collaboration will be getting on their high horse (arf! arf!) at not one, but two charitable type events:

On Saturday 1st April 2006, we're at 'Ciarafest 6' at The Portland Arms in Cambridge.

This is a benefit show for Premrose the charity that funds the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Rosie Maternity Ward at Addenbrookes hospital. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit cares for all sick newborn babies - including those who are born only on the edge of viability. They aim to support the family throughout their baby's stay and encourage parents to become involved in their baby's care. The money Premrose raises goes towards buying specialist equipment such as incubators as well as supporting parents who may have to travel long distances to get the unit.

Also on the bill are The Singing Loins, The Low Country and Paul Goodwin who are all bloody fantastic.

Tickets are £5 and the show starts at 8pm. Bring towels and boiling water...

On Friday 7th April we're at 'Merdeka' at Jamm in Brixton.

This special event sees a host of musicians and performers from around the world coming together in solidarity for the Free West Papua Campaign. This is a human rights charity, campaigning on behalf of the native West Papuan people of New Guinea who are suffering terribly at the hands of their Indonesian occupiers. Hundreds of thousands of native people have been slaughtered by Indonesian army and militia since the occupation of West Papua, and with a ban on foreign journalists entering the region, very little news of these atrocities is reaching the outside world. Given the appalling human rights record of Indonesia in East Timor and Aceh, the prolonged occupation of West Papua is a cause for major concern. A recent UN report stated that the native Papuan people face extinction if the world does not act soon.

Also on the bill are Jazzanova, Future Funk World, Sambura, Sabari, Kid Harpoon and The Lani Singers. There will also be African drumming, Human Rights projections, comedy (I hear Mark Thomas might put in an appearance, but don't quote me on that) and global munchies. I believe we're opening the event, so get there early. This is going to be mental.

Tickets are £10 / £8 NUS and the show starts at 9pm. Bring some sort of rudimentary weapon.

Current mood:  chipper

...at least in name. We haven’t played in the same room together for about six months. We’re still speaking though. Just about.

We’ve been making our debut album, you see. This has been a long and sometimes gruelling process, but it is now finished. What happens now is unclear.

Special thanks must go to Marc’s girlfriend, Sarah, for it is their house that we have invaded pretty much every other weekend since June. Thanks for the cups of tea, the constant supply of Heat magazines and for allowing us to get drunk and listen to Deicide in your front room. We couldn’t have done it without you.

I’m not sure about this whole My Space thing, but I’ll try anything once (actually, that’s not at all true). Let’s just see how it goes.

Until next time,

James
