HEYO!!

Its time for a Betsy update. A lot going on around here and its all very exciting. First, if you haven't seen it plastered all over facebook, twitter, and the myspace....well...we are super excited to now be working with 307 Knox Records in Durham to put out our next album. These peeps are great and represent some great artists. Check 'em out here:

http://www.307knoxrecords.com/

Thanks Melissa and Alicia!!! We can't wait to put out our next rockin' album with you!!

We also recently returned from tour. This last tour was filled with so many awesome and generous people and we are psyched we got to rock for you. Columbus was home to the best Reuben I ever ate at Vic's Midnight Cafe.
Really good Reuben...mmm....Vicatorians Midnight Cafe...DO IT!
Thanks Andreas!!!
And thanks also to Jenn who gave a us place to crash!
hey!

Friday we had a long drive to Durham but were greeted with Tekken at the Pinhook and
serious rock at MarVell Event Center. Our hosts for the evening Melissa, Michelle, and Zach then
took us to Chubby's for some serious mexican food. (my favorite!!) It was here I attempted (and failed)
to finish the largest burrito I have even seen. And I lived 60 miles from the Mexico border for 7 years.
Points for Durham!! We were lucky enough to be in Durham during Pride so Zach and Melissa took
us down to the party.
being even cuter than when looking at stuff!
And oh were we proud.
Very proud
We took some seriously happy group photos and hit the road.
again...from above

On to Asheville and yo do these peeps know how to throw a party.
Maybe it was our excitement over the 307 Knox news we received earlier that day but the
energy in the room at this show was amazing. Thank jebus for my Croakies because I was so sweaty
by the end I didn't even notice the busted  nub while playing.
liz has a rock injury...
Hey Asheville!!! HOLLERRRR!!!!!!!

After the show Bitch offered us a warm place to sleep. The next morning we played around
in the yard because it was full of cool shit like bowling balls and hula hoops.
gate

We headed out for the long drive home...but before getting there we had to make one last pit stop.
Heading to KY to have dinner with Spooky Q buds
You can't drive through Kentucky and not stop off for dinner with the Spooky Q's. Thanks Jack and Ondine
for feeding us your awesome foods!!!!!!

After some rest stop hi-jinks we made it back home to Chicago. And I was super happy cause I
put clean sheets on my bed before we left. Good to be home.

And now I am ready to go back out again!!

HI!!

What is up?! The Betsies have been busy! We thought we'd check in with our peeps of awesomeness and give you a little update on what have been up to and what is to come.

We played a couple of sweet shows recently. The Jackhammer at the beginning of August was SO FUN. Super Happy Fun Time Burlesque was so sweet. They are an awesome crew from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Check them out if they come to your hood.

Savior Faire kicked butt with a lot of amazing artists and performers. Thanks for having us and thanks for coming out to see us!

The next two months are going to be great. We have a bunch of shows coming up this month. If we are coming to where you are please come out and see us!!

On Thursday, September 10th the Spooky Q's are coming up to the Chi to play just for YOU. We played with them a while back and just had to have more. I highly suggest coming out to this show allow them to work their musical magic on you. This show is going to be so sweet and I can't wait. We love them SO MUCH that we are then going to Lexington on September 15th to play with them AGAIN along with the amazing Athens Boys Choir. All you Lexingtonians come on out!!!

On September 18th we will be heading up to Lake Villa to play an all ages show at Swing State. All ages shows kick ass. 'nuff said.

On September 21st we celebrate Levi's Bday at the Elbo Room!! Come and eat cake!! Give her the best present ever....throw your undies on stage!! (don't tell her i told you to do that though)

September 25th and 26th we head to NORTH CAROLINA (WOO HOO!!) to play Durham and Asheville. We have been waiting to check out North Carolina for a while now so we are ready. Lez do dis.

Heading back to the Chi we end September with a bang at the Rock House on the 29th. Home sweet homo.

OK so as if all of Septembers awesomeness wasn't enough....in October we start Pre-production on our next album and begin recording the 3rd week of October. We can't wait to lay down these tracks and get them to you. We have been working hard at getting this one together. Be on the look out for more news about our CD release date and Par-tay!

Thanks to everyone who has supported us and continues to do so...and for those who are just discovering us...welcome!!! We hope to come to your town soon to ROCK YOUR PANTS! We love you!

Let this be a reminder you just never know where and when you might get sniped by a kitten. You NEVER know - it could happen!!!

K, this time it's me, Levi, aka Steph, aka "the drummer".
and I wanna know some things about YOU, our fans..

1)
In your opinion, what makes for a great show?

2) Should bands wear stage costumes?

3) Do you like bands to talk or interact with the audience or just play their damn songs, or a little of both?

4) Which 8iB  songs do you like best? the slow songs, our fast songs or our hard-hitting songs, or all cuz you like variety?

5) If you live anywhere outside Chicago within a 5 to 8 hour drive, and think you could get us booked in a bar near you, we'd pack up, hit up your couch and you'd be on the list, plus one as V.I.P.'s  ;) So, so send us a message attn LIZZO.

OK, also what's your favorite beer? movie ? and who do you think we sound like?

watch democracynow.org and if you're in Chicago Amy Goodman is at Navy Pier this weekend.

We have a handful of live recordings from our rehearsal space. The logical thing to do would be to put them all up for you but wait! you have to wait for all of them cuz we're a buncha dicks! One NEW song every week and we'll keep 'em comin'- I promise. This week the song is "I Will Never Go Home." ...And all these songs are slated for our upcoming 2nd album titled The Mean Days. Hit us up and tell us what you think, want lyrics or point out where I obviously fucked up a chorus or something:)
Love, Meghan

Here are the Lyrics for "I Will Never Go Home" :

i feel trashed
oh, illinois
I am gonna suck
i just kept looking back
this place is outta control
these days are moving so slow
I make sense on the road
so i will never go, i will never go home
i need a nap
i get nothing done
i should go to work
chicago used to be fun (chicago you stupid fuck)
this place a heart fulla holes
this ghost is missing its soul
I'm better on the road
so i will never go, i will never go home
winter's comin' on
and i could use a friend
they're scattered so far
i'm useless again
Chete's watching shows, Yag is talking back, the Dog is off at work, the Doodle's on her mac, the Ginger's gambling, Tara's counting scabs, the Deuce is getting sad and i wanna go back
this place was my first goal
now both of us are so old
I want back on the road
so i will never go, no i will never go home

Hi Friends!
First things first: UPCOMING SHOW   MAY 2, 2009 Saturday
8 Inch Betsy is back to rock your pants. The set's gonna be pretty loaded with new stuff that'll either blow your face off or crap your pants. That's right, you didn't read that wrong: We are so awesome that we'll crap your pants for you. It is your choice to wear helmets and/or diapers. It'll be at Ronny's which I hear has a new sound system so I'm pretty excited about that. We'll be playing with OTHER ANIMALS and EVA.
Come on out, drink cheap beer, and rock out like crazy. Serious crazy.
Here is the link for the facebook event, if you're into that:

Hmm...What should I wear?

What we've been up to..........
Making trouble, very loudly. Since Steph came back we've been on this power-hungry road kicking ass. In our comfy practice space (darker than the inside of a cow,) all of our songs have easily become tighter, fiercer, making me one very happy Betsy. We have a bunch of new songs that are going to make our sophmore album very exciting. I am personally frothing at the mouth to record it, we all are......and waiting sucks! Any investors out there are more than welcome to announce themselves-cuz it's cold out here on the corner!
I really like this new practice space too. It frees us of time constraints and cuts out any pressure to get shit right. Now, more often than not, we get it right the first time and manage to have a lot of fun in the process. Not that it's not work, but everything's just been so much more fun lately. We are professionally and personally doing fantastic. Dude, hella.
Things I would like to know.........
When my face will stop itching.
If I can pull off flip flops this year with confidence.
And How you all have been. Tell us how y'all been doin'!

Band meeting-time to go---Love you guys
-Meghan

Hey Everyone...

Just thought we'd give you some updates on what's been going on...

We are currently in the Top 40 Best-selling rock/pop/punk albums on CD Baby...check it out...pretty sweet...

http://cdbaby.com/top/750

...so, if you don't have a copy of "This Time Last Time Every Time" you can nab one.

Also, tomorrow night (Thursday)  we will be playing at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee at the Gasthaus with Minneapolis-based band Tough Tough Skin. This show should be a lot of fun so if you are in or near Milwaukee come and hang out with us.

We are currently in the process of booking some midwest dates. Hopefully we can make it to your neck of the woods. If you want to recommend some venues you would like us to play at just let us know.

Our second album is very close to being ready to record. We are looking forward to putting out some new tunes and bringing them to you. Be on the lookout for news about that.

And last but not least,  Steph Levi has rejoined with us to continue the rock. We are feeling better than ever and we can't wait to get back on the road.

Thanks to Brad Thompson for hooking up the Iraq Veterans Against the War Benefit!!! Seems like it was a great success for a great cause. We were happy to participate!

I think that is everything for now. Be on the lookout for shows near you and we will keep you posted on our next album.

XO!

HEY EVERYONE!!!!
Thanks for everyone who came out to our shows and loved and bought our music. Your support is what makes this possible. We hope your 2009 is off to a good start. We wanted to send out a "HEY!" and do a little '08 wrap up. Check out what an awesome year we had!!

In 2008, 8 Inch Betsy appeared in an article about their new label, Queer Control Records and announcing the new Cd release on LOGO's afterellen.com. We appeared in CURVE's, Double Music edition in July of 2008 in an article about label-mates, Piriah Pirhana and Queer Control Records. Their album was also reviewed in the September issue of Curve Magazine.

8 Inch Betsy also did 2 west coast tours with Queer Control Records, touring with awesome bands and new best buds Pariah Piranha, Box Squad, Tough Tough Skin, Fruit Punch, and Oi Gays. We also had the opportunity to do a quick Southern tour with Team Gina (woot woot!), playing with Amy Kasio and Athens Boys Choir. You can check out Video Podcast about our 2008 West Coast Tours in our previous blog.

Special thanks to Andrea Shearer of Pariah Piranha, and Marlene Melendez of Box Squad for hooking up the drums on the west coast and east coast tour dates. You guys rule and rocked it! We couldn't have done it without you!

2008 was a great year. We will be recording and releasing our second album in 2009. Most of it is written already. We will keep you posted on our plans to record. Be on the lookout!!
We have had a lot of changes and new experiences last year. We have grown musically, as a band, and as individuals. We hope to take it further in the next year. Thanks for listening to our music! We look forward to see you in 2009!
XOXO
