Ben here. I've been in the studio working as producer on some fun rock projects, including working with a band called Lunar Youth. You can find details of what I've been up to at www.BenjaminScheuer.com. It's the darkest week of the year this week; soon the days will start getting longer and spring will be upon us. Until then, happy holidays.

Geoff and I played a show at Tufts University last night, at a coffee shop called Brown and Brew. After the show, we walked to WFMU 91.5 fm and chatted on air for an hour with Jess Bal, the DJ. We played some tunes live, they spun some tracks from our record 'First Lady Clown.' Special thanks to Drew at the station for making everything runs smoothly, and all the folks we hung with after the show.

At our pal Brian's house right now. He just took us to lunch at a restaurant called Garden At The Cellar, owned and run by his (25-year-old!) friend, chef Will Gilson. White truffle french fries and a wild boar burger. So good.

Back to NYC tomorrow.

Lady Clown seeks a videographer to film three Fridays shows at I-Beam in Brooklyn this month. Sept 12th, 19th, and 26th.

We'd like to shoot digitally, with one camera. Sound isn't needed, as we're recording our own sound.

Think you'd like to help on one, two, or all three of the days?

Email us at FirstLadyClown@gmail.com.

with love,

Benjamin and Geoff

Yippidie Doodah. Lady Clown's I-Beam Concert Series was such a wonderful success (thanks to you all for coming out, and to the amazing guest artists who have performed) it has been extended for Four More shows, on September 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th (All Fridays in September.) We've got a whole new roster of four guest artists, who will blow your minds. We'll keep you up to date.

Geoff and I have been performing acoustically, without even microphones. (Though Geoff plays an electric bass with lots of pedals on the floor that make odd sounds. Very fitting.) I've been playing a new acoustic guitar. And singing. Oh, Geoff has some really exciting new songs that we've been performing. Songs that will eventually make their way onto a new record on which we've begun work. (I promised I wouldn't tell anyone we're thinking about calling the record 'Consider the Balustrade.' So don't let on that I've shared this with you.)
(Parentheses make things secret!)

Today is my brother's 21st birthday. Happy Birthday Simon.

love,

Benjamin

Thanks to everyone who came last night to hear the Zeybek Trio and Lady Clown, in the opening night of our concert series, and special thanks to Ben Holmes, Harel Shachal, and EJ Fry of the Zeybek trio, and Brian Drye who helped organize the series.

See you next week!

Geoff and I are most excited. Tonight begins the first of five Lady Clown concerts in a series that we're hosting. We've got some great new material (did we mention we've been in the studio working on some new songs?). We thought we'd give it all a bit of a test run during the recording process.

All the August shows are at a cool new space called I-Beam, in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It's a really relaxed venue. We'll have a few bottles of wine around. Bring a few beers if you'd like. There's no bar, no guy at the door, it's all free to get in, all ages, all good.

This past weekend, Geoff and I loaded my car with guitars and waterguns and headed up to New Paltz, which smells significantly better than Manhattan. We played two gigs, and made friends with the owner of a record store called Rhino Records, where I picked up a copy of the new Beck record

Lady Clown has some lovely new songs, which are hard to play, and this was our first run at performing them. Geoff's singing many of the new tunes, and we're also singing together on many of them.

People seemed to enjoy the shows; we sold a few CD's. And now we're getting psyched up for our August I-Beam residency in Brooklyn. We're lucky to be joined by some of New York's coolest musical acts. I'm really looking forward to it.

Zeybek Trio performs traditional Turkish and Balkan folk songs in a non-traditional manner.

Zeybek Trio will perform at 8:15pm, and Lady Clown will follow at 10:00pm.

Turkish music and Lady Clown: the perfect way to set the tone for what is sure to be a fun and eclectic month.
