dear everyone ...to celebrate Volkoren's fifth birthday this year i went up to some friends of mine for the weekend in June and we recorded an ep in their parent's living room while they were out of town...this ep contains five covers of the five other bands that are on the label (hence the title: V)...it's already available on itunes in holland and the US..but the official release is on October 16th at the Volkoren festival in Paard van Troje....you can stream my recording of At The Close Of Every Day's "The Sound Of Someone Watching Me" on my myspace page...

dear all...i've been spending some time lately writing songs about major cities...mostly they're memories...going iceskating and falling asleep on the way home on the back seat in an endless line of cars late at night in bangkok...rushing through times square in the dark through heavy snowfall and seeing nothing but a bright blur...driving to the airport in the middle of the night in phnom penh....playing in the backyard during monsoon in kathmandu, the water coming up to our knees....sleeping on the floor on the night train to chicago...but there's also songs about the tokyo tower in tokyo...and the tokyo floods...and the city of the dead in cairo...i called up a bunch of my friends to come over and bring their trombones, trumpets, cellos, fender rhodes, guitars, violins, synthesizers, pretty girl voices, snare drums and cymbals and play these songs with me...there'll be twenty of us doing a show in a really old church hall in groningen (the oldest infact) this coming monday night...my friends from brown feather sparrow and anderson will also be performing then...the sunday after we're doing another show and my friends from awkward i and the ghost will be opening for us...if you read this before then make sure to get tickets by sending an email to hamradiocommunications@gmail.com ...there's a video online of our rehearsal last wednesday in the hall outside lauren's apartment...so take a look and send me a message if you'd like to join the band...hopefully we can get even more people for the next show...
