As most of you know, Athens suffered a huge blow this past week when the Georgia Theatre burned down.  We have nothing but support and respect for Wilmot Greene and Scott Orvold and everyone else over there.

The Athfest organizers took the initiative to move the whole gig over to the venerable Morton Theatre.  Come party with us one last time svp.

Current mood:  dirty
Category: Dreams and the Supernatural

We Versus the Shark is going to play our last show for a very long time at the Georgia Theatre on Friday, June 26th as part of Athfest.

The next time you see us, things will probably be different: we might have a different name or a different line-up.  Scott will have his degree from UGA and we will be well-rested from not touring four months out of the year.  And hopefully we will have a really great album to share with you.

Those who attend our "last show for a very long time" at Athfest can expect a set list that reaches all the way back to the beginning, and so it's only appropriate that we will be joined onstage by founding member Samantha Paulsen.  Thanks and hope to see you assholes there.

The first "leg" of our tour is over and we feel deeply fortunate to have made loads of new friends. We were gonna party all night with Pulled Apart By Horses after our London show but they had to go; something about going to a "dick meeting" whatever that is.

Pulled Apart By Horses, Gavin Glove, Dawn, Ash, and tons of others. Thanks very much.

We want to send a shout out to all the kids from Leeds who came to the London show. You guys are great.

Onward to France!

Well in two weeks we're going to escape the sinking ship that is America and voyage to lands of endless resources and financial solvency--right?

Right!

If you need info on getting yr tickets in advance or have questions about age restrictions at the UK shows, we can refer you to our tourmates Pulled Apart By Horses blog, mostly because we don't want to re-do all that HTML.

If you can lend a hand in any of the places we have noted as "HELP!" in our Euro tour, please drop a note. Thanks y'all!

We'll probably blog while we're there. Whatever.

It looks like we are going to be going to the UK and Europe this spring, and we are obviously pretty excited about it. I believe an Obama win will make our journey a bit more pleasant: y'all are voting, right?

Anyways, here are the dates we're thinking, and if you're over there and you want us in yr area, please get in touch with our European booking friends!

17th - 30th March - UK w/ Pulled Apart by Horses
1st - 19th April - Europe w/ Blakfish

I wish Hot New Mexicans would cover this song.

The new cover song will be up tomorrow night. We'll play it at the Popfest gig at Little Kings, too.

If that's what you're asking yourself, the answer is: it's on it's way. Give us about a week. We were going to record it but we decided to go see Bat Man instead.

Fall tour with Pegasuses-XL is shaping up well. In the meantime, see ya at Popfest.

Sloan Simpson, the tireless documentarian of Athens/Atlanta music culture, was kind enough to record our Athfest show at the 40 Watt. You can download the jams right over here:

Thanks, Sloan!

Ok, so we played a weekend tour of Florida and it went pretty well!

It's a different game, you know? Growing pains. I think our show in Jupiter, Florida and our homecoming show in Athens (with the INCREDIBLE touring bands - Yardwork, Black Congo NC, Nat Baldwin, and Des Ark) went the best. Leaner, meaner, crankier.

We are now planning a three-week tour of the Eastern part of the USA with the band Pegasuses-XL.

If you think we should come to your town, send us a message. It will be from October 10th through November 1st. We will be playing the CMJ festival in NY and the Fest in Gainesville.

See you soon.

Shark Friends--

I regret to inform you that I have resigned from my position as "the girl" in We Versus The Shark. It's been over five years of sweaty shows, meeting amazing people, being surrounded and inspired by great (and not so great) musicians, a ridiculous amount of time in the van traveling around the country, and I can't say it's been bad in the least. Recent disagreements over the musical future of WVTS has led me to think that I'm no longer meant to be in this band, and I've decided that now is the best time to close this chapter of my life. Understand that there are no hard feelings between bandmates, in fact, the Shark will continue on as a triumvirate, and has my support until the very end. Expect great things to come from these three, as they are incredible musicians with great passion in the music they write and play.

My last show with the boys will be at Athfest, and I'm really hoping to see a lot of you there. Athens has been so supportive, and I feel lucky to have been part of such an incredible music scene.

Our Athfest show will be at the 40 Watt, Saturday, June 21st, with Cinemechanica, A. Armada, and Centro-matic. Please be there, if you can.

Thank you again for all the support, all the encouragement, all the dancing, clapping, singing along, and for sharing with me the most incredible times in my life.
