So... No REAL details because I am keeping all of this stuff super secret... but trust me... this is going to be fun. For those of you who do not know what is going on in the secret world of this little Pixie. I am recording a full length album.. YES. Finally. I haven't been that great with keeping everyone informed about the project. So here is my attempt to give some things away about it.

Chidori and I just got back from 10 days in Raleigh, NC down at Low Watt Studios. We have been working closely with Ted Comerford (He would be the producer extraordinaire) and Rich Stine (He would be the engineer erm put up with annoying noises and crazy faerie antics extraordinaire) There is a long list of accomplishments for both of these crazy talented music dorks but I won't list em all here. Just trust me, they are awesome.

So far we have finished writing/arranging 10 songs, recorded the drum tracks and acoustic guitars (for the most part). What songs you ask? Well. We picked one song off of the first EP "Bad Habits", three songs that you all might have heard already, and six butt spanking new ones that you won't hear until the CD release party. Things might change but I might could put up a lil song list below for those of you who are interested.

I had two requests for this new album (well three actually)
1. PLEASE JOANNA CAN YOU WRITE FASTER SONGS?!

2. JoAnna, your songs are nothing like you, you are fun and happy. I want fun happy songs.

3. Yes Wendell(Pawn Shop Lifters) We are recording "The Girl"

So I don't know if everyone can tell or not... but I am SO freakin excited about this. I think you will all be surprised by what we are working on, and I think everyone will finally get a sense of who I am and how well I can actually sing.

OK... so I am all excited about being on the cover of Portfolio this week... double as excited about being nominated for an award for the second year in a row... BUT the news comes with sort of a bitter-sweet kind of taste/feeling. And not to sound all pissy towards Portfolio or anything, because I know they are not the ones who make the nominations but...

WHY didn't someone nominate Counterfeit Molly?!
?!?!

Of all of the talented musicians I have met so far in my lifetime(Including Berklee), Counterfeit Molly holds some of the best.

Now I know that the local cats know about Counterfeit Molly, had them on their radio programs, had them play at their events, promote their events, they compete in the local battle of the bands... I hear their music in REGULAR rotation on Max FM, and on all of the local music shows.

Not only did they release a BAD ASS record this past year, but they are constantly releasing newly recorded material. I know when I have a day off from playing a show... I look for three things...

1. An Influence show (for obvious reasons)
2. A Pawnshop Lifters Show (Because they don't suck... duh)
3. And if you didn't know where this was going... I WANT TO SEE COUNTERFEIT MOLLY

No one in this town knows how to rock the shit out of a club like Counterfeit Molly does.
In your face, honest, cut you like an ax to your chest kind of lyrics, catchy choruses, Pink Floyd meets Nirvana meets Weezer meets The Smashing Pumpkins meets The Foo Fighters kind of rock your fucking socks off.

So shame on the local community for not including them... ever.

If I had a nomination... it would be for you.
