Subject: Sad news to report
Hello friends,
I am very sorry to report to you that a friend of SAGA and Dezert Boyz passed away early Tuesday morning. Neighbors found the body of Ryan Monroe, 29, in his central Tucson apartment early Tuesday. The coroner has ruled the death a suicide.
Ryan moved to Tucson in the fall of 2004 from San Diego, CA. Anyone who knew Ryan remembers his sly smile, charming style, and cutting wit along with his exceptional musical talent. He had only been in town a few weeks when he came to visit Wingspan and noticed a bulletin board posting for a band seeking a drummer. Shortly thereafter, Ryan became the newest member of what we all now know as Too Much Information. After several months with TMI, Ryan left to join the indie folk trio Redlands, with whom he performed until the time of his death.
Local friends are planning a memorial service, which will most likely be held Sunday afternoon. Details will be released as soon as they are available.
The entire Wingspan staff is saddened by this news, and we extend our condolences to Ryan's family and friends as well as to the community at large. Wingspan's Anti-Violence Project and Southern Arizona Gender Alliance encourage you to be gentle with yourselves and each other during this difficult time.
