So, a couple nights ago, CinC played the Urban Lounge again (awesome venue) with local band Truman and Vancouver boys Melody Unwinding. Both put on a great show and we're really lucky to have played with them! We cranked up the energy, too, and the crowd responded in kind! Probably the most fun I've ever had at a show, and all three of us can't wait to play our next gig - STAY POSTED!! Also, keep your collective ears open for CinC to hit Alberta radio stations soon! Keep spreading the CinC gospel and remember to ROCK FOREVER!!!!!!

Current mood: adventurous
Okay, so the Urban was far from empty last night - all our diehards showed up, despite cold weather, short notice, early mornings and exams - but relatively speaking, it was the sort of show that bands tend to refer to as "intimate." Oh, and I really like the sound of "Playing To An Empty Bar"... I'm thinking it's a song title at least, a first album at best. That said, crowd or no crowd, Colour in Conflict delivered the goods... TWICE! Basically, the second band never showed, which meant a quirky second set full of oddball covers and "B-Side" originals. Yay for encores by default! (Incidentally, that's the one sentiment you'll never hear at a Default concert... SNAP!)
On to new business: new demo, available for the first time ever, right here. Check it out. Also, new photos!
As for gigs, we've been invited back to the Urban for March 12th for a battle of the bands. Other than that, well... we'll keep you posted.
Stay colourful!

Current mood: accomplished
So, right about now, you're probably expecting a glowing review of our Wednesday night gig at the Urban Lounge. Unfortunately, a pipe burst in the bar, and the joint flooded. I know.
So, while the Urban was good enough to reschedule us for this coming Wednesday (TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!!), we decided that, rather than let down all the people who booked off time from work and made special arrangements to show up that night, we'd book a room at my school and put on our own damn concert. The turn-out was excellent, the spread was delctable (IGA donuts... mmm...), and while the sound-quality may have been sub-par, the energy was unbeatable. All in all, an enjoyable show, and one that we all felt really good about doing. That said, make sure you come on down to the Urban on Wednesday... it's going to be amazing.
Other than that? New demo up soon - we're talking "Hearts Go Bump", people. Can you believe it?
Thanks for listening!

Current mood: frustrated
I write to you good people in a fit of frustration. The Urban Lounge has been closed for the evening - a pipe burst, they are flooded. This means our gig is canceled. This means a good forty or fifty people are probably almost as frustrated as me. To those of you who made arrangements/booked time off work/etc., fear not: we are playing a make-up concert at the MacEwan Arts Campus (156th and Stony Plain) at 9pm tonight. Let no one say that Colour in Conflict goes down without a fight. We're even fronting the cash for refreshments. How cool is that?
But back to my frustration. Ahem: AOEIOJRWEROHIUWEFUHDWEFWEIJIJOEROJEVHOUFEUWHFWEUIHFEWIJFEWRIOJRGOIJRGOIJPWFEJIOSEIOJOIJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's me, mashing my face into the keyboard.
The worst part is, I have no one to blame. It was entirely accidental. You never realize how much blaming somebody helps deal with anger until there's nobody to blame.
I must go buy refreshments. Hope to see you at our show tonight.
Warm regards,
Robyn Slack (Guitarist for Colour in Conflict)
PS: Know what else frustrates me? How every time I type our name, the word "Colour" gets a red squiggly under it. I don't know if it's myspace, this computer, or the internet in general, but somebody isn't speaking canadienne, and it's really buttering my basset hound.

Current mood: accomplished
First off, to anyone who's reading this - thank you. Very much. You see, we're kind of new on the scene, and every little bit of support is greatly appreciated. Yay you!
Now then, on to new business: it's a new year, we're a new band... coincidence? I think not! In light of this, I present to you Colour in Conflict's first blog entry of 2008 (and, uh... also, incidentally, their first blog entry EVER).
2008 began with Colour in Conflict's first gig (coincidence again? I think not!.. again...). The band rocked the house at Edmonton's Crown Pub from 10pm straight through midnight. Despite several technical difficulties (broken guitar strings, minor feedback), the band persevered, and the result was an audience that left with their minds thoroughly blown. Covers of crowd favourites like the Counting Crows' "Mr. Jones" and the Barenaked Ladies' "It's All Been Done" received a massively positive reaction, dwarfed only by the raucous explosion of cheers and applause that followed originals such as "Devil" and "It's Our Hearts That Go Bump in the Night." After the show, congratulations were flying in every direction... several audience members were caught in the crossfire and left with a false sense of self-satisfaction.
Other highlights? Kevin wore a Luchadore mask during his drum solo, and Robyn got ridiculously drunk. Ah, what a magical evening.
What's that? You say you missed it? Well, take heart, little friend: Colour in Conflict will be playing at the Open Mic Night at Grant MacEwan College's Center For The Arts Campus, 5pm on January 24th. While that show will be quite brief, they'll be playing a full set at the Urban Lounge on January 30th (more details will be posted soon).
Speaking of things that will be posted soon, Colour in Conflict was back in the studio last night, and their latest track will be available for perusal/download as soon as it's mixed, right here at myspace!
Once again, thank you to all of our fans/listeners/people who stumbled across this page. You people out there - you're the REAL stars!
Warm regards,
Colour in Conflict
