"I played these guys again on my show today because they are just the best, even without their amp. Many favourites from Within the Tolerance of Rock ‘n Roll along with new stuff like Could Be You and Shades of Blue guaranteed a first class show, if a little short due to delays with equipment and flooding. Pablo is settling in well on bass and I am still a committed supporter. Watch this Space www.myspace.com/lunaticcrash "Full gig review at http://www.xstreameast.co.uk/reviews.php?id=57

If you have not yet experienced Lunatic Crash, it’s about time you did. They are Eran on guitar and vocals, Mally on drums and Rowan on bass, and they do guitar driven rock like no other band of this format. With the spirit of Hendrix always present, Eran plays one of the meanest Gibson Les Pauls in town and has a vocal range that takes some beating. Rowan does his job well, but also contributes brilliant bass solos while Mally is one of the soundest drummers around, and she is certainly the prettiest. They did old favourites like “Pendulum”, “Wouldn’t Let You Go” and the amazing “Sexy Woman” as well as old blues stuff from Muddy Waters and Stevie Ray Vaughan. An encore was requested and delivered and we all went home very happy. To share this joy with us go to www.myspace.com/lunaticcrash.

To close the week, I was happy to attend the launch of "Within The Tolerance Of Rock n' Roll", the new album by Lunatic Crash. I have followed this band for some time but have not caught them live for a while. They were originally very much a rock/blues outfit but have now widened their style and format to the extent that they could be at home at the Jazz Café and the 12 Bar. The event was at the Herbert Chapman at 274 Holloway Road, which is basically a pub with a stage area in one corner. Nice enough venue which can be reached by turning left when you exit Holloway Road tube on the Piccadilly Line. The band is Eran on vocals and guitar, Rowan on Bass and Mally on drums and they make one hell of a sound. Eran's incredible vocal range and guitar skills are complimented by the other two band members who take their share of solos. They opened with some Muddy Waters followed by many of the album tracks which I shall review later. They did a fine cover of the Johnny Cash swansong "Hurt", and encored with "Tutti Frutti" and "Foxy Lady". They also included "Sexy Woman", which takes Ethan's vocals to dizzy heights but is not on the album. The album will be on itunes and in selected record stores and you can hear some of it on MySpace. This band is unique, so remember, you heard it here first. That was a great way to end a great musical week; I wonder what's in store next week.

This band is a three piece in the Hendrix Experience/Cream tradition fronted by Eran, a guy with an awesome vocal range and an intimate understanding of the significance of a Gibson Les Paul in the overall meaning of life. With an equally impressive rhythm section of Rowan on bass and Mally on drums this band delivers. Their opening number, 'Pendulum', was a good rocker to get the punters settled. 'UFO' was a mix of funk and blues which showed Rowan's skills off along with Eran's incredible high notes and guitar work. 'Out of the Blue' moved nicely between ballad and rock and employed some lovely block chords. 'Sexy Woman' is a master class in raunchy rock which must be heard for Eran's guitar work and the numerous false endings featuring his incredible voice. 'Star' had some reggae in it while 'Wouldn't Let You Go' was pure rock at its best. They finished with a cover of a Muddy Waters blues which allowed all three musicians to strut their stuff indulgently, and why not when you are that good. This band gets better every time I hear them, so check them out on http://www.lunaticcrash.com.
