So Kent, our drummer/singer, is working at his lovely South street branch of Starbucks when he happens upon one of his customers who is also a representative for ReachOut International Records (ROIR). His name is Nick Cooper, and by pure chance he enjoys guitar music. Kent says, hey Nick, wanna buy some *Censored*? Nick says, Send me some music. Several months pass, and Kent does little more than mutter under his breath about Nick's request, completely forgetting what Nick said he does or who he is. So I eventually send our music to Nick and several of Kent's friends. To my surprise, a Mr. Nick Cooper returns my e-mail, explaining that I'm a super-genius with big ideas, and can I save the music industry single-handedly from certain ruin. I said what any man would say. I said, I'll see what I can do. Many misadventures and tea time chats later, Nick and his brother submit to us the befabled RECORD CONTRACT. Now all we need to do is find an entertainment lawyer who doesn't also sell vacuum cleaners from the back of their minivan. So there you have it, readers. Some very simple steps to follow here, and for that advice: you are welcome. (Please note that I am now contractually obligated to use at least one emoticon at the terminus of every paragraph or textual statement relevant or otherwise to ROIR or Univox, used in context of the internet, text-message, letter, cave-painting, oil-based crayon drawings, Light-Bright, or any unforseen future technology in all possible realities in perpituity throughout the universe. )

We're recording a new EP which we're calling Voller Knoll Act 1. The guy recording it is Bill Moriarty. Bill is the super genius magician who is in the local papers up and down the east coast every week for his brilliant engineering work. We're coming down to the last half of our week recording and thus far it's all gone quite well.
Also: everything is straight to 24" tape. I'm not trying to be a snob or a butt about it, it's just a personal dream of ours to make an album on tape using tube driven equipment and commit it to vinyl. Hopefully we can get both wishes.
The track list is: I'm a Lying Fuck, Is Never Fast Enough?, Nobody's that Smart, and Delicate Woman. We've got a demo up of I'm a Lying Fuck on our myspace, and you can hear my personal rendition of Delicate Woman on the Josh Jones myspace, myspace, myspace, myspace.
The plan is to record 2 more sets of 4 song EPs within the next year and jam it all onto one big pancake. Think about that.
We're going to try to have a record release party by or before November and WIZARD.

Yeah, we did an interview. No big woop for us Famous Amos types. The next issue of the Compendium will be featuring us, UNIVOX, in all our articulate and unintelligable splendor. Interviewer, Kevin, likes our band, and if your reading this you either are with him, or have an obsessive vendetta against us. It's our thang.
We're going to be doing some classy weekend shows this September, one of which is our first adventure into Brooklyn with LGM, among others, at Tommy's Tavern. I'm skipping a friend's marriage to do this, so cross your toes. ALSO! exciting! we're playing with a british band, Lake Me, September 9th at the Tritone in Philadelphia. Make sure you come out and freak out, because they're british and we're incredible. Incredible. Just try to credib us, I dare you.
Finally, the album release. The forking, ship-kicking album release. We don't have the money to mass produce the thing, so we've gone ahead and created a short run of about 80 copies with 3 color screen-printed, hand-made cases. It's not ideal, but if we had money we probably wouldn't have the motivation to be so incredible, said the poor failure in a feeble attempt to rationalize his position as romantic rather than desperate, and pitiful.
I love you all. We all love you all, very much, and we're very proud of you, and nothing will ever change that.
Sincerly,
UNIVOX and Dad

The recordings are finished. We hope you like them. Soon there will be copies available for purchase. Or, you can buy them now, on this site with virtual money.
In the meantime, check out the musical acts of the guys who produced the EP: Gang, Young Samuel, and Tomorrow Tomorrow, all local to Philly.

The long epic adventure is nearly at its end. We've got one more day of capture to round up some brickabrack with Sam and John, and then we hand it over to Tim (from Gang) to mix and master the joint. It's going to be worth the wait, I swear. Even without mixing it sounds like a phenom.

So apparently we're all a bunch of thieving house smashing grand burglars what travel by night to burgle and thieve the innocent nieces of ex-radio disc jockey's favor, because I'm talking to my good friend Patrick Spatz last night, and he tells me he's trying to request that we be played on WPRB, a most beloved and cherished enterprise among the youth and young at heart alike, and he tells me that he's being told, via instant message correspondence with a beautifully voiced siren who has a show there, that some one has essentially black listed our crappy demo by writing upon it: "The singer from this band stole thousands of dollars from a niece of an ex-dj; i.e. do not play these bastards, cause they're all bad in a negative way. So I call up pretty voice, and I speak to her, and she, of course, falls in love with my nervous charm and plays our nutty recording of New Man, despite the thousands of dollars we've all willfully absconded with en la noche back to our skull shaped HQ in evil Mexico, to waste said monies, of which would most certainly otherwise be employed for either charity or baby needs, on tequila, fire crackers, y senoritas de la noche. Anyway, you can read more about this in my new edition of Traversing the Ethical Minefield, which can be found wherever legal books are sold, in the section on WPRB V.S. UNIVOX.

We just finished Pi, and Mind Traveler's Song (both written by Joe Bonaventura in his formative years). Hopefully you'll be able to hear them tomorrow. It looks like Delicate Woman and I am I am won't make it onto the album, so I'll make them downloadable for tonight and tomorrow morning so don't waste time brushing your teeth or sucking on toes or whatever sick ass things you do in the dark with your kidnapees. Jeez Louise!

Where's the harm in that? You gotta take everything apart, put it back together and then whatta you get? Another drum track and you don't even like the way it sounds, AAAAGGGHH! Anyways, we did more recording in our cave today, and we goit a drum sound that sounds great and stays great, so there. In the mean time, no new taxes, Bright Lady Light is nearly complete, as is Mind Traveler's Song, so you're all gonna get samples of that action on thisSpace soon, bro. Or sis. Whatever.
Also, did you ever notice how awesome bands have videos that go with their songs, even though that shits got nothing to do with anything? Well we starte thinking, hey, why not make a video about something that's got nothing to do with our music for our music? The answer is, because you sons of bitches out there that don't know anything about our music aren't coming up with ideas for us to realize.
C'mon! Mush!

Since Prince Samuel is on the west coast enjoying sunshine and record contracts this week, we decided to soldier on with the January recording program and build a studio. It took two days, but by the end of the second we had a drum track and a bass track complete (both totally sick and wicked) for Lever Master City to the City of Age. People probably don't know that one, as was mentioned in a response left on our last blog, but at this rate you'll have access within the month, so quit your crying or I'll carve my name on your mail, you egg, ya.
