The USA release so far has been about what we expected. Lots of stores not carrying it, stores not stocking enough copies and running out of them in a matter of hours, and even worse out on the west coast shipments of CD’s simply not arriving to the stores with no explanation whatsoever, which is real cute. It’s a frustrating experience to put it lightly, but we're staying positive and doing what we gotta do. I really don’t want to infect you guys with the negativity of the business side of things, that’s our problem and our managements headache and our record labels responsibility. We do need help though, so before I get to the next paragraph I gotta briefly explain the problem with the way things are being handled. To put it simply, stores wont stock shelves if you’re not either on tour or sold a lot of records from your MOST RECENT release. As we learned last year while shopping the CD to labels, Century Media gave us one last big slap in the face by releasing the Master Killers Anthology, a collection of old stuff rehashed to line their pockets one last time. The sales on that are what our bands history is really worth at this time, which is inaccurate to put it mildly. Now aside from that problem, the CD isn’t being or hasn’t been shipped on time. Think of it as seeing ads for a new movie and showing up to the movie theater only to find out Lions Gate didn’t ship the reels to the theater on opening night, with no explanation. It disappoints fans, merchants, the band, everyone. Now as far as being on a big tour, it’s a catch 22. Without big record sales, or a hell of a lot of money to pay the bands for taking you on tour, it’s not happening. One recent tour we were offered came with a 5,000 price tag and it was like 11 clubs in Europe that we can and will fill ourselves. That’s just an insult plain and simple. Now if our label wants to buy us on to a bigger tour to help them get our CD in stores so they can recoup their investment that’s their business. As of right now it seems like they have their hands full just fulfilling the promotional end of our contract and shipping the CD to the stores that ordered them. AGAIN, Regain is on our side. They are our record label and they have invested money in us to bring our music to you. Unless they are purposely trying to sabotage themselves and their investment, we choose to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are just having difficulties of their own handling our record and our reputation. Regardless, as you can see, we have more than our share of obstacles on the business side of things…..

HOWEVER……nothing has ever come easy for any of us in music or life, and we were prepared for this. What’s really important right now, and what is going to be our only bargaining chip to get the ball rolling, is our first week of sales. I personally have been advising people to buy the actual CD because the artwork is special and the CD comes with a really awesome poster inside. If you download it or get it from iTunes you don’t get that. Profit-wise, the band benefits tremendously from iTunes sales opposed to CD sales, but that’s really not the goal here. We want everyone to have the CD so you can get our artwork and be presented with our music the way we presented it to the world. We were not in any rush to get the music up on iTunes until we realized the CD was going to be hard to come by. Ultimately, what we want and need is for you all to have the music. We just want to play shows and celebrate our fans and have a good time, and we want you all to know the music when we come through. If we log enough first week sales, it gives us the power to do get more done ourselves which we are capable of and I personally prefer.

SO…..heres what we need and ask of you to do for us.
Buy the cd as soon as possible! The first week sales will determine our next move!

Amazon.com already has the CD on back order, all the retail outlets we know of where we live sold out pretty much on release date. Wish we could say it's because the CD is just that hot, but unfortunately as is always the case with Merauder we were just underestimated.

One place that did NOT underestimate Merauder is NEWBURY COMICS! They stocked the CD in probably all 28 of their outlets in Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Their online price is the cheapest Ive seen. less than 15 bucks after taxes and shipping! Repost, and SUPPORT NEWBURY COMICS!!!

Current mood:  determined
Category: Music
We have been getting several messages via myspace, email, youtube etc. from friends in Europe who cannot find our new CD in stores. It is frustrating to us as well, but lets all just stay positive and do what we can do to build our music community and strengthen it.  As far as we knew the CD was released on June 19th, but apparently it was not actually on shelves until the second week of July. Even then, people only seemed to be able to find it in Germany, Austria, Holland, and Switzerland. We really appreciate the feedback and the support as well as the great feedback on the CD. Now for those who cannot find the CD in your country, here are a couple of online links that have the CD in stock. Buying online is more and more becoming the way of the future for our music to survive as major corporations weed out the non-conformist artists who are unwilling to censor, alter, or downright change their music for the sake of corporate favor. Here are the links:

There is much more that can be done to help not only Merauder and other bands like us, but yourselves as well. First and foremost, if you go into a store and they do not have Merauder or your favorite artists stocked, make a point to take a few minutes and speak to someone in charge. Let them know that you came to buy the CD and ask them if they have any intentions of stocking it. It only takes a few requests to get their attention. It is a business, and the only way they will know there is a market for our community is if we speak up.

Next, let our record label know where you attempted to buy the CD and could not find it. PLEASE keep the messages respectful. Regain is a company that invested money into Merauder to bring our music to you. They are on our side. I can assure you, if they had their way every Regain Records artist would be stocked in every major media outlet in the world. I am sure they run into many roadblocks and obstacles trying to survive in a cutthroat business full of deep pocketed corporations who would love nothing more than to eliminate labels like Regain, and keep your musical options limited to their top 40 superstars. So again, please keep the messages respectful and positive. By letting them know what is going on and where, they may be able to do something about it.

Finally, contact your favorite bands via myspace comments, emails, or any contact available to you and let them know that you would like to see Merauder on their tours! We showed over the last year before we even had our record out that we are perfectly capable of headlining our own tours and making a living like that playing for good sized crowds every night. However, what we really want right now is to get on tours that will bring us to new audiences and bring our audiences to them. Then in turn we can headline even bigger tours and turn and help other bands, maybe even your band. More tours = more distribution opportunities. Remember, it’s not just helping us it’s helping yourselves. It only takes a few kids to mention something before an interest brews. Plus, when we come through on tour we will make sure we have CD’s available at our merch booth..even if we have to go to Switzerland and break into Regains warehouse to get them, and you know we’ll do it too!

Stay up,

Bobby B

“Brooklyn is not the easiest place to grow up in, although I wouldn't change that experience for anything.” -- Neil Diamond

If the music of New York City is any indication of what’s ingrained in the hearts of its people, Brooklyn’s own MERAUDER epitomizes the underbelly of inner-city America at its grittiest and most fearless. While rebellion-hungry suburbanites and wannabe gangstas fall victim to current trends and faux tough posturing, the true warrior spirit that is MERAUDER remains the genuine article after nearly two decades.

Armed with a knuckle-dragging, heavy as shit, hardcore-meets-metal ferocity, MERAUDER’s sound has always reflected the band’s native Brooklyn upbringing and hard earned lessons in survival.  Emerging from New York’s hardcore scene in 1990, MERAUDER released a pair of demos, gigged constantly with the likes of Sick of it All, Sheer Terror, Motorhead and Morbid Angel, and contributed a track to the now legendary 1992 hardcore compilation East Coast Assault.  While the band claimed its turf in the NYC underground shortly after its formation, it wasn’t until 1995 and the recruitment of vocalist Jorge Rosado (Ragmen, Ill Nino) that MERAUDER’s threat came to lethal fruition.

Shortly after the addition of Rosado, MERAUDER inked a deal with Century Media Records.  With the release of the band’s first full length, 1996’s Master Killer, MERAUDER unleashed a defining moment in metalcore and set new standards for metal and hardcore bands that would follow in their wake.  Like their predecessors the Cro-Mags, Carnivore and Leeway, MERAUDER possessed a street-born spirit that shattered the sonic barriers of traditional hardcore.  By incorporating thug-infused beats and death metal grooves into the hardcore punk battle cry, MERAUDER solidified itself as a menacing force and locked down one of the most terrorizing musical backdrops to urban blight ever recorded.

In the years following the success of Master Killer, the band scored an opening slot on Fear Factory’s ’96 US tour and in 1998 headed to Europe with Bohse Onkelz. 1999 and 2003 saw the release of Five Deadly Venoms and Bluetality, respectively, both of which continued in the revolutionary style of the band’s debut.  Despite this seemingly unstoppable momentum, MERAUDER would soon endure numerous lineup changes, label woes, and the death of original guitarist Javier “SOB” Carpio (RIP) in 2006.  The future for MERAUDER had been put on hold indefinitely.

Enter 2008.  Driven by a manifest urgency to perpetuate the natural evolution of what was started nearly 20 earlier, Rosado resurrected MERAUDER with fresh blood and renewed fervor, assembling the most cohesive lineup since the band’s inception. While embarking on tours throughout Europe and Japan alongside metal giants Obituary and Exodus, MERAUDER caught the attention of current manager, Obituary’s Frank Watkins, and later, renowned extreme metal label Regain Records.  The undeniable chemistry between Drew Smerdon (Bass), Dave Stafford (Guitar), Darian Polach (Guitar), Bobby Blood (Drums, ex-First Blood, Crematorium) and Rosado proved to be a fertile union for birthing an unholy beast of a record as only MERAUDER can: God Is I

The most focused recording since Master Killer, God is I (June 2009) finds MERAUDER in perfect form.  Melding the band’s roots with a modern bite, the intent becomes immediately clear within seconds of the album’s suckerpunch opening riff; “Until” hones in on its listener and the chase begins.  Runaway freight train grooves, mid-paced stomps, seething gang vocals and death metal drenched riffs all find themselves vying for supremacy amidst their patented NYHC delivery.  From the punishing hooks and wailing solo on “Built on Blood” (featuring guest vocals by fellow Brooklyn Bastard Mike Scondotto of Inhuman) to the eviscerating Latin tongue of “Ahora,” the powerhouse vocals of Rosado single-handedly carry and crown the massive weight of MERAUDER’s latest.

Beaten up but never beaten down, God is I pushes MERAUDER to the forefront of modern metal alongside heavyweights Lamb of God, Hatebreed and Shadows Fall.  A true testament to the “never say die” New York City sensibility, God is I carves a new path for MERAUDER in 2009, demanding redemption once and for all for metalcore’s unsung pioneers.

Monday, September 04, 2006

Taken from a fan review page..

http://skibrooklyn.blogspot.com/2006/08/merauder-outburst-all-out-war-cbgbs.html

The best part is about us..... heres a preview...

"Before the set started Merauder had a moment of silence for recently deceased member SOB. Then all the DMS heads got ready to represent. As soon as the first note was struck the place went nuts. The All Out War pit was bigger but this was a lot scarier. There were a few 300 pound goons just fucking pummeling people in the pit. Then there were a few skinny bastards flipping off of everything more then 4 feet off the ground.

The scene was utter chaos yet oddly choreographed. Like I said, I've been to lots of shows and I've seen some crazy ass shit but this pit had more high risk maneuvers than any. The odd thing was I didn't see a single damn person get hurt. There was everything from backflips and handstands to dudes swinging from the pipes in the ceiling. You could tell everyone knew everyone and they also new the building.

Anyway, back to the music - Merauder killed it last night. I never really noticed how technical the band was. Much more so then nearly all hardcore bands. The riffs were like something out of Kerry King's scrapbook and the drums were tight as hell. I was simply amazed by how good of a bunch of musicians Merauder were. It was also cool to see 20 people up on stage with them. Everyone was passing around mics and taking turns helping out on vocals. That's what hardcore is about - everyone at the show is just as important as the band. Just because you're not in the band doesn't mean you aren't part of the music."

And that is what exactly happened !!!!!!!!!
