Nick Lowe's seminal 1978 album Jesus of Cool is out now on Yep Roc Records. If you haven't already, you can buy it on CD or vinyl at the Yep Roc Web shop.

Don't forget: resurrection weekend is almost here. And you can still participate! Band, solo artist, radio dj... if you've got a show this Friday, February 22 or Saturday, February 23, play a little Lowe in honor. Make sure to copy the official resurrection banner from our myspace page (right here) and leave us a comment telling us where you're playing and when.

Don't have a show but want to participate? Record yourself playing some Lowe (audio or video), dress up like one of the many Nicks on Jesus of Cool's album art (and take pictures, of course) or just leave us a comment on why you love this man.

Let the resurrection begin!

Greetings all;

Please excuse the bulk-mail message here, I'm touching base to let everyone know about an upcoming rock show at the Tractor Tavern featuring the rarely thought of  and seldom seen Nick Lowe tribute band THE LOWE BEATS.

The Lowe Beats sprang from the primordial muck of a number of Seattle garage rock combos about, oh, ten years ago, and have maybe five or ten shows since then - but all have been memorable occasions for everyone involved. Who can forget the Bumbershoot gig where "Mr. Rock & Roll" showed up, and conversations overheard  in the crowd included, "Who is this?" - "I don't know, I think it's Nick Lowe!"

The reunion-worthy occasion now at hand is the upcoming re-release of Nick's first album, "Jesus Of Cool," by hip indie label Yep Roc Records. The album has long been unavailable and this seemed like a good opportunity to round up the now far-flung members of this crusty ensemble, dust off the chestnuts, and, you know, ROCK once again. And make no mistake, this is a band that ROCKS - not for the faint of heart!

We'll be at the Tractor on Friday, Feb. 22nd, and at Dante's in Portland on Saturday, Feb. 23rd. On the bill in Seattle will be The Cops and The Beltholes - I believe the Tractor is selling advance tix. In Portland we'll be joined by Casey Neill & The Norway Rats and the illustrious Shee Bee Gees (Portland's finest female early Bee Gees cover band!).  Hope to see you there, more info below!

Cheers,

- Hugh Jones
