.................... We are really stoked to announce that Toronto pop-punkers, Junior Battles will be releasing their upcoming EP with us, Black Pint Records! These four very handsome and well mannered gentleman have been writing tunes and playing shows for a little while now, and if you have ever had the chance to see them live, then you are fully aware of how much fun these guys really are.
The 6 song EP entitled Hotel Bibles will be coming out at the end of April. We’ve had a chance to listen to the un-mastered copy of the CD, and it’s awesome. The album is full of crazy hooks and sing-a-longs choruses that will be stuck in your head for days!
The official CD release show will be April 24th at the El Mocambo in Toronto with Ninja Gun and Mike Hale. Be sure to get there early to grab your copy of the record! If you aren’t in Toronto that night, don’t worry, these guys have a pretty heavy touring schedule lined up starting in the spring, so I am sure you’ll get your chance to see them!
We have posted one of the tracks “Will and Words” from the upcoming record on our myspace page, it’s the un-mastered version and it already sounds incredible, so you can only imagine how the final version will sound! Also, czech out the Junior Battles myspace page to hear some of their other tunes.
Cheers,
Andrew/BPR

So The Creeps 7", These Walls is finally done, and will be coming out February 3rd. We thought we might be able to beat Guns N Roses and the Chinese Democracy album for "the album that takes the longest to come out" but the plant got their act together and the record is done.
You can order your copy now through the Black Pint Records myspace so head there now and grab one, there are only 400 available on blue and white marble vinyl.
Cheers,
Andrew/BPR

Here are some reviews of the new Creeps record;
Since the release of Gamma Gamma Ray! in 2003, these snotty Ottawa punks have been writing some of the best non-Ramones Ramones songs this side of Chixdiggit. Lakeside Cabin, their third full-length, is actually a different story. While Back to the 'Bin, Gamma's follow-up, hinted at the band's slightly darker side, this latest offering is the full-fledged realisation of the Creeps' unique approach to morbid, fast, catchy punk rock. While the Ramones influence is still prominent, it's taken a back seat to a huge hard-on for Walk Among Us, and the band are all the better for it. While lead singer Skottie Lobotomy lacks Danzig's gloomy baritone, he's got the melodic sensibility and dark lyrical tendencies down pat, and the fact that he still sings like Joey just makes the whole thing unique. It's kind of like Rocket to Static Age or something. Songs like "All the Way Home" and "Palisades Park" are wonderfully poetic, twisted and catchy odes to murderous rampages that somehow manage to avoid becoming hopelessly cheesy, while "We're Going Down" is a straight-up harrowing song about dying in a plane crash that will have its killer final hook stuck in your head for days after a single listen. - Sam Sutherland (Exclaim!) ______________________________________________________________
There's something somewhat bittersweet about stumbling upon a long-running local band and immediately falling in love. Sure, it's terrific that now there's this killer band from your hometown that you'll probably get to see all the time and you can hang out with at your dingy local bar and talk to about all the nerdy records that you both like. On the other hand, what have I been doing for the last eight years that hasn't involved a steady diet of The Creeps? Lakeside Cabin, these boys' third full-length record, is an insanely catchy combination of mid-period Alkaline Trio and Backchannel Broadcast-era Lillingtons with fittingly dark, creepy lyrics that (luckily) avoid any hint of horror punk cheesiness. With any luck, this band will be right at the top of the Insubordination Fest heap of pop punk bands that both the kids and the grown ups can dig. Seriously, track this shit down. –Dave Williams (Razorcake) ______________________________________________________________
Upbeat pop-punk has yet to see its third wave revival, but that doesn't stop The Creeps from attacking with Lakeside Cabin. An indulgence in the worlds of The Offspring, NOFX and Green Day, the majority of songs on this 11-track effort are indelible bouts of upbeat bounce with infectious choruses and straightforward verses. Occasionally, the band dabbles in the subgenre of folk and Celtic-influenced punk, à la Flogging Molly. That in itself provides an inspired change of pace from the unwavering beat of their primary inspiration. It's not quite enough — there are few elements on Lakeside Cabin that will appeal to anyone lacking an intense interest in the four-chord, elevated-tempo drive of the aforementioned SoCal instigators. With its crisp production, concise performances and overall enthusiasm, Lakeside Cabin proves that saccharine indie punk still thrives in the outer limits of edgy music. - Keith Carman (FFWD Weeklly) ______________________________________________________________
The Creeps Lakeside Cabin (BLACK PINT) The Creeps follow Danzig or The Misfits in the traditions of dark punk rock, but work present-day crimes into a record that's eerily catchy. This is the Ottawa band's third full-length release, following 2005's Back to the Bin, and it takes a darker turn than their earlier records. Playing music about lurking in alleyways and under bedroom windows, these creeps don't particularly look like guys you'd be afraid of (maybe that's the point). With contemporary tales about plane crashes, stalking and various sorts of death, The Creeps are more gothic than The Misfits, more polished than AFI, creepier than The Ramones. Somehow it's hard to take lines like "I passed all the girls I used to stalk...try being a reformed psycho killer, it's fucking hard," seriously---one gets the impression these guys just get together with their instruments and a couple six-packs and happen to come up with some catchy lyrics about murderous rampages in the process. "Long Way Home" features a serial killer after a couple making out on a deserted ridge: "Voices (Again and Again)" asks the age-old question, "Am I getting too old for this murder scene?" The pop-punk hooks and storytelling on this record are solid and putting it on late at night at the lakeside cabin will probably freak out only the most dour vacationers. --Laura Kenins - The Coast (Nova Scotia) ______________________________________________________________
Maximum Rock'n'Roll (August 2008) The Creeps – "Lakeside Cabin" CD Not to be confused with the Ohio band of the same name, Ottawa's Creeps play awesome pop punk that owes as much to Social Distortion and the Misfits as the Ramones and Screeching Weasel. I've been waiting for a band to pick up the Lillingtons ball and run with it, and these guys got it, right down to where the Lillingtons had sci-fi, the Creeps have a horror concept. I can hear early Offspring in here, too. They play solid, mid-to-up-tempo melodic punk rock with goofy lyrics about serial killers and dying in plane crashes. The dark lyrics go nicely with the bouncy, catchy tunes. This is up there with the best of the new crop of good pop punk bands like the Copyrights and the Ergs! and they also remind me a lot of (the post-Gits outfit) Dancing French Liberals of '48 (who if they haven't, they should definitely check out), especially the guy's voice. This is their third album, and as soon as I'm done writing these reviews I'm off to the record store to see if I can find the other two. They're that good. If I did year-end top tens, this would be near, if not at the top. Very, very good-I mean, goose-pimples-on-the-arms good. (AD)

The Little Millionaires will be putting out their next release with Black Pint Records! Remember Bombs over Providence?? I'm sure one or two of you do, well it's a couple of those guys and a couple of other dudes. The release will be a split record with Hostage Life and will be out in early 2009. The split is called "Drinking In The Van Against Racism" and everyone is really stoked about it.
You can czeck out TLMs stuff on their myspace:

Download it, put it on your ipod, or send it Russian mp3 companies where they can sell it without permission, makes no difference to them.

So we get a lot of requests to help people get shows in Ottawa, which is awesome, as the city always needs more live music. However, we don't promote shows anymore, sorry. If you really want to play in this city get in touch with some local promoters/venues/bands. The best place to start is here;
http://www.punkottawa.com - they have pretty good contact lists of all three things listed above!
