Last Thursday night I was part of Central VT Covers Central VT, the brainchild of Anais Mitchell. Eighteen of us songwriters got together at Langdon St. Cafe and each covered a song by someone else in the group. I feel so blessed to live in a community which appreciates people writing and performing original music. And what a group of musicians! I found myself moved to tears by Patti Casey covering Susannah Blachly; I closed my eyes and just swayed and smiled to Jay Ekis covering Rob Meehan; I was moved to tears AND laughter by Lewis Franco covering Anais Mitchell; I was awed by Colin McCaffrey covering my own "Golden Bird"; and I felt honored to perform "When I Die" by Katie Trautz. The room was packed with sweet Montpelierites, who listened attentively to each artist, and applauded from their hearts. I hope we all get to get together again!
