Hey guys and gals...How are you? I just need to get a thing off my chest because the more I think about it, the more it makes me sad. It may make me a few enemies but so long as I'm a positive role model for my 15 yr old sister, 3yr old nephew, and the thousands of young myspacers just coming out into the gay world who write me asking for advice, so be it. But this is my stage, my forum and if only 20 out of the 45,000 myspace users read, then I choose to take that risk.
Lately, mostly due to summer gatherings and pride festivities, I've noticed a large group of young gay men and the use of elicit drugs especially crystal and coke. I've even seen it in my close circle of friends and it's starting to affect the way we interact with each other.
I don't look down at anyone who's using such drugs to fill a void, whether it be emotional because insecurities make it difficult to deal with life, or physical because it sure does wonders to a six-pack. I just hope you respect my choice to abstain from them as you choose to use them. I also would like to put a little sense to the young people whom I mentioned earlier in this: my stage; and keep them away from something that will enevitably damage their lives.
Yes, it's true, dames lives and I'm not being overdramatic. Drugs lead to ruined relationships with lovers and friends, violence and unprotected sex with strangers, which lead to greater worries.
I just wanna ask, whatever happened to all the Nancy Reagan's out there, back in the day, who fought and protected us young children at the time, and dared our parents to 'keep kids off drugs'? Too bad we never listened.
