Christmas is a time when most Americans get together with their families and give gifts. For many, Christmas is also a celebration of the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. This will definitely be the case in my household!
During this Christmas shopping season, we spend a significant amount of money on gifts as well as travel expenses to see family and friends. According to various online sources, the average American spends anywhere from $500 to $1000 on Christmas gifts alone. For some, I am sure it is much more.
But did you know that many companies who sell us products and services also contribute financially to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain? Talk about Bah! Humbug!
Think about this: What kind of message does it send when we, personhood advocates, are preaching that we must restore human rights to all—born and preborn—while purchasing products and services from companies who support abortion?
I understand that it is going to be nearly impossible to avoid every single company and service that supports moral evil. Therefore, we have decided to focus our financial boycott efforts specifically on those that contribute to Planned Parenthood, since they are the behemoth that profits from selling abortion and contraception while lying to women and protecting child predators.
We know that, over the years, many companies have ceased their financial support of Planned Parenthood after receiving letters and phone calls from consumers. Boycotts work, so why not use this tool? We know Planned Parenthood needs to make a profit to stay in business. We have seen its facilities shut down due to lack of customers. They will shut down when corporate donations dry up as well. When Planned Parenthood facilities close their doors, babies’ lives are saved and mothers are spared the trauma associated with abortion.
I highly encourage you to listen to the show and prayerfully consider joining personhood advocates from around the country who have decided to put their “money where their mouth is,” and that is NOT in the pockets of corporations who contribute to the nation’s largest abortion provider. Let Christmas be a time of joy, family and celebrating the birth of our Lord ... not a time to stuff the coffers of the anti-Christian Planned Parenthood.

Feature: Pro-Life Christmas Shopping - What to Avoid this Christmas Shopping Season
The Christmas shopping season is a time most Americans spend a significant amount of money on gifts as well as travel expenses to see family and friends. Why spend money on gifts and other items whose parent companies then use those profits to donate financially to Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion chain?
Big thanks to Life Decisions International who investigates these companies and supplies you with this list in exchange for a small donation.

Last year Rock for Life released a Winter Compilation CD chock-full of recordings by artists and musicians who are partnering with us to promote the human personhood movement. There was a lot of demand for this CD and 5,000 copies were distributed.
For American Life League's annual Training and Activism event (to be held Jan. 20-23 in Washington, D.C.) Rock for Life will release its second annual Winter Compilation CD. As it did last year, the CD will feature 15 engaging tracks of very diverse musical styles that all proclaim Rock for Life’s message: Human rights for the preborn now! It will feature well-known Christian artists such as New Method, PhatMass, Becoming the Archetype and 12 others. Each CD is packaged in an attractive full-color, four-panel wallet providing information about Rock for Life and personhood, as well as a schedule and information on Training & Activism Week. And once again, 5,000 copies will be handed out for free at this event, which includes two free Rock for Life sponsored concerts as well.
“It’s a brilliant way to market our message, and educate and meet new audiences,” explained Jeff McLain, Rock for Life’s tour and artist relations director, who also manages the CD project. “We can hand out thousands of informational fliers, but the reality is that most people will throw them out without ever reading them. In our experience, free music is always well received.”
Rock for Life continues to use music to not only entertain young audiences, but educate and engage them on abortion, human personhood and human rights. In addition to its annual Winter Compilation, Rock for Life has produced over six major-release CD compilations. You can a copy by sending $15 (includes S&H) to Rock for Life CD Ordering, P.O. Box 1350, Stafford, VA 22555. For more information, visit www.rockforlife.org or call 540-659-4171.

NEW VISALIA ROCK FOR LIFE LEADER: 'LITTLE LIFE INSIDE ME WAS GOD’S CHILD AND HE HAD BIG PLANS FOR HER'
Washington, DC (24 November 2009) – Rock for Life has a new chapter in Visalia, California, lead by a young woman with a passion for her new mission.
“God placed a ministry right in my hands,” said Cassie Journey, 20. “Saving the lives of women and precious babies who are not being heard; I cannot wait to see how God is going to move in our community.”
Cassie’s story starts three years ago. At 17, she became pregnant and thought of getting an abortion. But through prayer and love, her family changed her mind.
“Without my family’s strength and light and Jesus Christ, Saydi, my daughter, would not be here today,” Cassie said. “God and Saydi were my focus, and I was determined to keep my eyes on Him – knowing that this little life inside of me was God’s child and that He had big plans for her.”
With the support of her family, and inspired by her youth pastor, Cassie decided to start a Rock for Life chapter in Visalia. Cassie wanted to use her story and the gift of her daughter to show her community the beautiful gift of life and motherhood and to work for recognition of the personhood of all God’s children.
“Cassie’s story as a young, scared, unmarried pregnant mother is not uncommon,” said Kortney Blythe, American Life League’s Rock for Life chapter coordinator. “But her righteous decision to reject abortion is one that should be praised and encouraged. Her precious daughter Saydi is a testament to the blessing of life. Despite our plans, God uses these situations for good. Rock for Life is excited to have Cassie on board as we restore personhood to all.”
Rock for Life, a project of American Life League, works with hundreds of bands and thousands of pro-life youth who use music as a means to engage, educate and equip our culture to be advocates for life. You will not silence my message, you will not mock my God, you will stop killing my generation.

Jacque Berg is married to an evangelist and has four children. She, her husband and her children are music lovers. In fact, the church they attend in Eugene, Oregon was a launching pad and stepping stone for many of the early Christian rock bands.
Her daughter is a tour leader for the African Children's Choir and for several years she was the artist liaison for the Fringe Stage at Creation Northwest Festival. Her youngest son, a rock for life supporter, is in a local rock/worship band and runs a small concert venue.
Jacque's love for a variety of musical genres led her to regularly attend Creation Northwest Festival for the last 11 years, 6 of which she worked as one of the Prayer Team supervisors, and Tomfest, a smaller, more alternative, rock festival in southern Washington state. In addition, she volunteers for a local production organization and works at as many local shows as she can.
She works in local schools and recently obtained her M.A. in School Counseling. Her desire to build others up, combined with her passion for education and music, makes her a great asset to the Rock for Life chapter family.
Her pro-life experience includes volunteering for Lane Pregnancy Support Center, where her daughter also worked and taught abstinence in the schools.
"My desire [is] to influence and help youth by education, but also by providing help and support when needed. And I love music! So, it seems about time that I tie in with Rock for Life," she says.

Why is it double murder when someone kills a pregnant mother, but not murder if she has an abortion?
The unborn victims of violence law(s) “recognizes a ‘child in utero’ as a legal victim, if he or she is injured or killed during the commission of … crimes of violence. The law defines "child in utero" as "a member of the species Homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb” (Wikipedia). These laws, when combined with decriminalized abortion, perplex even the most simple-minded individual because of the contradictory statement they make on human life.
Although these laws made headlines in 2004, recent events have brought this glaring discrepancy back into the spotlight.
Even other countries have the same confusing, double speak laws. A UK doctor was sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to poison his mistress and cause the death of her preborn child. Did you get that? Attempting. He didn’t even kill her child and yet he still received prison time.
Why? If he could’ve convinced her to have an abortion, he wouldn’t be behind bars. He would just be nudging her to use her “freedom of choice.” This woman laments the day she’ll have to tell her son (who was born with no problems) that his father tried to kill him. But, wait, didn’t he just try to kill a lump of cells, “just a fetus” or pregnancy tissue? No, his goal was to murder a person living in her womb, but a person who only had value, in the eyes of the law, because his mother wanted him.
The sentencing judge in the case condemned Dr. Erin as “a liar, a cheat and a predator.” But why? He was just taking “reproductive rights” into his own hands. I agree with the judge, but all abortionists should be labeled as such.
This weekend, my mom handed me a touching front page article from the Charlotte Observer, filled with pictures of a young boy with a wide, beaming smile. He is Chancellor Lee Adams, a child “born of tragedy,” whose father, former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Rae Carruth, is in prison for hiring a hit man to kill him and his mother.
His baby's mother, Cherica, was shot four times and their child was born 10 weeks premature. A month later, Cherica died. Why did this NFL player want them dead? According to the article, “because he didn't want a baby and didn't want to pay child support.” Sounds like the same reasons women give for abortions. In this case, though, he just decided to terminate two people. It’s the same logic. Should we be surprise that, as the article points out, the leading cause of death for pregnant women is homicide?
Chancellor’s traumatic delivery left him severely handicapped. He also has cerebral palsy and is being raised by his grandmother. The article commemorated his 10th birthday and rejoiced over his unexpected life of joy. Neurologists warned that he might never talk or walk again. He does both.
Had this child been handicapped before the shooting, he may have had to pay for it with his very life. Children with disabilities are even more at risk of death by abortion than other preborn persons. And yet, there was an entire feature article dedicated to describing what a blessing he is to everyone.
The third current event that deals with this contradiction is the Fort Hood massacre. One of the slain victims, Francheska Velez, was with child and preparing for maternity leave.
Because of this, a pro-life group, Alliance Defense Fund, has asked the military to charge the suspect, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, with 14 murders as opposed to the initial 13 counts of premeditated murder.
Apparently, Article 119a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice makes it a crime for anyone "to cause the death ... of a child, who is in utero at the time the conduct takes place." So, the federal government, 34 states, and the military all recognized the personhood of preborn human beings, unless they’re killed via abortion.
After we finished recording the Netcast feature, another of these stories popped onto the scene.
TMZ reported on a L.A. restaurateur who allegedly murdered his unborn child using deadly white powder. But, that’s not the stunner. They titled the article “Fetus-Killing Powder Suspected in Brutal Murder” (emphasis added). So now aborting a preborn child is “brutal murder”? Great! I agree completely! So let’s be consistent. If that was brutal murder, then abortion is brutal murder. The suspect even allegedly used the drug Misoprostol — which is used for early abortions and to induce labor.
When the UVV laws were passed, NOW President Kim Gandy reacted with panic, claiming “it was meant to lay the groundwork for dismantling Roe v. Wade," a "poorly disguised attempt to elevate fetal rights … redefine the legal status of a fertilized egg as a human being” and to “confer personhood on a fetus.”
IF ONLY! Then the laws would actually make sense. In fact, the UVV laws have specific exceptions that state they cannot be used against abortionists. Until we cease with the conflicting views of human persons, in which we base someone’s value on “wantedness” or who does the killing, violence against the born and preborn will continue to permeate our society.

Planned Parenthood and other child-killing advocates are trying a new tactic to thwart life-affirming pregnancy care centers: Force them to post a sign proclaiming that they don’t provide abortions or face a $500 per day fine.
Picture a political cartoon depicting abortion hawkers throwing temper tantrums and wailing: “They say ‘pregnancy’ in their name, but don’t offer to terminate the pregnancy, they must pay! Waaaaa! They’re not real medical clinics! Waaaaa! They’re taking away our hard-earned blood money!”
Now, why would a group of people who pound their “choice” rhetoric into people’s heads be opposed to centers that provide “choices” that their abortion mills do not (i.e., FREE services, adoption assistance, honest chastity counseling, truthful information about the dangers of abortion and miracles of human prenatal development, support for women who don’t want to dismember their children)?
Money, that’s why. Anything that threatens their monetary lifeline — abortions — must be stopped. They don’t want to prevent abortions, as they so nobly claim (“safe, legal and rare”). In fact, they want to increase them. Just listen to former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, who recently quit, explaining that PP wanted her to push abortions to improve their economic state. Much to the chagrin of PP, who tried and failed to keep her silent, she continues airing more of PP’s dirty laundry, revealing things about them that we’ve said all along.
"Abortion is the most lucrative part of Planned Parenthood's operations," she said. "Even though they're two separate corporations, all of the money goes into one pot. With the family planning corporation really suffering, they depend on the abortion corporation to balance their budget, help get them out of the hole and help make income for the company."
Pregnancy centers tell the truth. They show women ultrasounds of their preborn children. They expose the abortion/breast cancer link. They warn of the psychological trauma caused by abortion. They love women and their babies. And they don’t take one penny for these services.
This true charity terrifies Planned Parenthood. Their killing centers are shutting down (praise God!) left and right citing budget reasons. But if PP really cared about women, wouldn’t they stay open regardless of the money? We see quite the opposite; if one of their centers isn’t bringing in enough revenue, it’s shut down. Some PP centers have been so desperate for more money that they break the law (big surprise there) and overcharge the government (in one case by an alleged $180 million).
A recent STOPP report detailed another such example of their greed:
“PP of Indiana has announced the closure of seven of its facilities this year, citing a $1.4 million decrease in Title XX funds. However, as we reported to you earlier, if you look at PP of Indiana’s 2007-2008 federal form 990, you will see that they made $2,158,861 in profit. If you divide the $2,158,861 in profit by the $200 per woman for family planning, it would mean that PP of Indiana could have provided family planning for 10,794 women with their profits from last year alone. Instead, they closed five facilities.”
Also, I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of a pregnancy center causing the death of a woman (let alone millions of deaths of preborn persons). I do, on the other hand, frequently read about so-called doctors who butcher women and children in their so-called safe abortion facilities. Research the background of your local abortionists and you’ll most likely find a long rap sheet of medical malpractice/wrongful death suits, license revocations and other such complaints.
I’d say it’s the abortion mills that need a warning sign outside of their profit-hungry death camps!

Our band of the week, Wolves Among Sleep, are a rough raw rock band from Maine that aren't afraid to ask the question, Who is afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? In fact, the Big Bad Wolf is a metaphorical theme that is drawn on again and again throughout their latest seven track CD on Blue Duck Records called, Lions Tigers Bears.
They have self defined their sound as Shimmy-core, which they said is a combination of raw rock and roll with pop and hardcore edges that create a fun and easy to dance to but still aggressive sound.
A glance at their website and myspace surely shows the definitive role their faith plays in their music and their lives, they are quite out spoken and much like every other band in this scene - trying to bring a positive infulence into a darkening world and scene.
Blue Duck Records sent us this latest release on their label and we want to thank them and give them a shout out at www.blueduckrecords.com. Tell them Rock for Life sent you.
On our latest netcast we feature three songs from them, I built My House with Cards, Disasterology and Red Hands Make for a Guilty Conscience. Listen to our latest Rock for Life Netcast and experience Wolves Among Sleep for yourself, unless your scared of the big bad wolf.
You'll find more about Wolves Among Sleep at www.myspace.com/wolvesamongsleep. To find out about more pro-life artists go to RockForLife.org and click on the "Music" tab. You can also listen to pro-life artists on the Rock For Life homepage.

As personhood advocates, it is critically important that we use the correct terminology to describe preborn babies, their mothers, the very act of abortion and even the facilities in which abortions are committed. It doesn’t matter if you are a full time pro-life advocate or a “normal” person who works, goes to school, takes care of your family, etc. We must all watch what we say in daily life—even in casual conversation.
So, the words we use are very powerful and can make the difference between life and death. You might be surprised to realize that even we pro-lifers often use terms and phrases that can be dehumanizing to the very people we are trying to save. That can cause confusion and that can hamper our efforts to obtain recognition of the human rights of all human persons. As we educate the public and advocate for the rights of all human persons, born and preborn, we must seriously examine the language we use and make some changes, if necessary.
With that in mind, I am going to share with you this short list of terms and phrases that we should drop from our pro-life vocabulary:
- Fetus, embryo—These terms are generally used by abortion supporters, but I also notice pro-lifers using these terms often. Fetus and embryo are actually terms referring to stages of development. Their use begs the question, which animal species, during its embryonic or fetal development, are you referring to? For human beings, embryo describes human development from the very beginning of a human being’s life through their eighth week of development. Fetus describes a human being’s biological development from the beginning of their ninth week of development until birth. We should replace these terms with “human embryo,” “human fetus” or “human being during their embryonic (or fetal) development.”
- Fertilized egg—This is a dehumanizing term used as a form of pro-abortion propaganda. It is not a legitimate term, since it isn’t scientifically accurate. Human women don’t carry eggs; they have oocytes. Upon first contact of a human sperm and a human oocyte, a newly created human person now exists who is in his/her first embryonic stage of development. It has become popular with abortion advocates these days, in response to the state personhood initiatives cropping up around the country. We need to correct this whenever we see or hear it. Use correct terminology in its place, such as “human embryo.”
- Mistake, accident, unwanted, unplanned— These terms have very negative connotations and are very demeaning, especially for the child who happens to overhear some mention of the circumstances in which he or she came into being. Every child is wanted by someone and no one is an accident. God creates every single person with a special purpose in life. A positive-sounding term such as “surprise” should be used instead of terms or phrases that imply that God’s creation of a baby is an unfortunate event.
- Pro-choice—This term was developed by a marketing firm employed by the abortion lobby before abortion became decriminalized on January 22, 1973. It has been and still is a very effective term, but still very misleading. It begs the question, what is the choice? The child has no choice when threatened with an abortionist’s suction device, knives and forceps. Replace this term with “pro-abortion” or “abortion advocate.”
- Pregnant woman—This term takes the child out of the equation and can make pregnancy sound like a disease. Abortion is often referred to as “terminating a pregnancy.” Instead, use terms such as “mother,” “pregnant mom” or “expectant mother.”
- Health clinic/abortion clinic—Health gives the impression that health is being restored to an individual. Similarly, clinic normally denotes a respectable, morally legitimate health care facility. Abortion is murder, not health care, so we should not dignify it with such dignified terms. Replace such terms with “abortion business,” “abortion mill,” “abortion facility,” “abortion center” and so forth.
- The abortion issue—Taxes are an issue. Paying for education is an issue. Abortion is not an issue; it’s a tragedy. Abortion is a violent crime that kills a human person and leaves his/her mother scarred for life. You can also replace issue with terms such as “question,” “matter,” etc.
- It—A baby boy or baby girl is not an it. Yet that is how many of us refer to children in utero or even at the moment of their birth. I hear this so often: “It’s a (boy/girl)!” Instead, say, “He is a boy” or “She is a girl” or “My/our/their/his/her/the baby is a (boy/girl).”
- I’m going to be a ___!—This phrase usually ends with “mother,” “father,” “grandparent,” “aunt,” “uncle,” etc., But it’s inaccurate and dehumanizes the baby, because actually, it’s a done deal! The person speaking is already a mother (or father, grandparent, etc.). If you catch someone (or yourself) saying this, quickly correct it by reminding them (or yourself) that the child already exists, so they (or you) are already a mother (or father, grandparent, etc.).
This is in no way an exhaustive list. It has been compiled to get you thinking and to start a conversation that will hopefully result in pro-life advocates being more effective in changing minds and hearts, which will eventually result in legal recognition of human personhood for all, born and preborn. Let me know what you think!

There is an old saying that goes, “When it rains, it pours.” A Chicago high school is now learning a new meaning to that saying. The principal of Paul Robeson High School discovered one out of every eight of his female students is pregnant.
Nowadays, it isn’t unusual to find a few pregnant girls in a school, however this is certainly a high number. Principal Gerald Morrow told CBS2 in an interview that he is aware of 115 young ladies, out of 800 female students, who are currently expecting or have recently given birth.
Perhaps the first question that comes to mind is the topic of sexual education. You’re probably assuming the school doesn’t teach it. Otherwise, it would be working, right? Wrong. Reporter Kristyn Hartman from CBS2Chicago.com says that the school has had “prevention talks” with the students. So what can we blame this high number on? Is sex education not working in our public school systems?
Principal Morrow is blaming the problem on a lot of issues; one of them being “a lack of leadership and a lack of fathers” at home. Another issue brought up is the fact that parents aren’t educating their kids.
CBS2Chicago.com reports, “LaDonna Denson and two other Robeson students say parents not talking to teens and, in some cases, the pursuit of public assistance also factor into the pregnancies. None of them thought they'd be moms at such a young age. They said they have support at home. But not all girls do, they said. In fact, some girls get thrown out of the home. “
As I read this article, it occurred to me: If these kids aren’t being taught about successful families or dealing with pregnancy, I wonder what they are being taught about abortion? Obviously, these kids need some help. Some have been kicked out and, with the growing number of pregnancies, they are walking through life blindly.
Luckily, the principal isn’t backing out of helping or condemning the students. "We're not looking at them like 'Ooh you made a mistake,'" he said. "We're looking at how we can get them to the next phase, how can we still get them thinking about graduation?"
Hopefully, the only options the school and other people reaching into their lives have are life-affirming ones. One student put it best: “Just because you have a baby, that doesn't mean your life is over."
Some people might just be born for their tasks at hand. CBS2 reports that the principal was born when his mother was only 15. We can see why walking these kids through this time in their lives is so important to him.
When Fox News covered this story, they mentioned an interesting statistic: “The birth rate for teens ages 15 to 19 increased five percent from 2005 to 2007, according to a March 18 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics.”
This story continues to prove that students, more then ever, continue to need education and awareness on the issue of life-affirming choices. If you have ever thought everyone must know it all by now, that’s probably just because we’ve surrounded ourselves in a “pro-life world bubble.” What’s happening at this school shows our voices still need to be heard, and a better alternative to Public School Sex Education needs to happen.
