I thought it would be a good time to introduce you guys to the wonderful world of Eric Staller. When you pick up your brand new copy of vehicles you’ll be looking at some of the spectacular and innovative artwork that he has created over the years. His early experiments with light sources and long shutter speeds are my personal favorites and two of them are included with the CD. The technique he developed allowed him to create some striking images that are pretty unbelievable and difficult to describe (so go look at them already). He also has a wide range of light sculpture, installation, and vehicular (hmm...) design work that will blow your mind. The art choices we made for the album in some ways reflect the lyrical content and in others the general ambience it creates. We’re thrilled with the final product

Eric’s not just a great artist, he’s also a really interesting guy. A lot of his motivation seems to be in the reactions he gets from the observers of his artwork. To really understand him and his many forms of expression, you ought to pick up his book and hear the stories (as only he can tell them) behind his innovative projects.

In any case, this is what you’re going to see around town this April 1st:

And that’s no joke...

See you April 2nd,

I cannot type very fast, it's true - but I offset this negative attribute with my consistent precision and accurcy.

In related news, a couple of people have asked to see a picture of this wicked old typewriter I picked up a couple of weeks ago. It's totally sweet, check it out:

I told you it was sweet.

In unrelated but pretty coincidental news, devin bought a new bass the day before our last show in windsor. It's cool. I don't want to say too much about it, because I'm sure devin would enjoy describing it to you if you asked him to. It's red, anyway.

In directly related news, chris went out the actual morning of our last show in windsor and bought himself a new guitar. he had been lusting after it for long enough - we're all happy to see it's a part of his life now.

NEXT ISSUE:

- album art - for real? yes, finally... album art.
- riley's been quarantined and re-located to a secret hidden testing facility. except for shows, and practicing and stuff.

Signing off,
tristan

I don't know if you've come across this website yet, but it's a dandy one: http://www.rabbitholemusic.com. If you haven't, now is your chance to check it out and bookmark it, especially since Braintoy is a featured artist. The website is pretty sweet any day of the week though, Adam always has cool bands to talk about. If you want to go directly to the Braintoy blog, go here www.rabbitholemusic.com.

We just got some brand new merch happening that should give you a bit of a glimpse at the visual feel of Vehicles. If you were at the Horseshoe show then you probably saw a few people sporting their fancy new Braintoy T's. All the shirts are based on the sun logo and we've got both men's and women's styles and fits. Men can choose from dark red on black or the more psychedelic cream on orange/red; women can choose from the same dark red on black scheme as the dudes or a little white on pink thang. At the moment we don't have anything available online, but that will definitely change as the album approaches. In the meantime, you can pick one up at a show for 15 bucks; a small price to pay to be the coolest kid on the block. See you in Hamilton...

I always wondered how they make snowflakes. I think this is what they use to design them so the nanobots can pluck water molecules from the frigid air and assemble them on the way down for us. I have already come up with a few interesting snowflake concepts, it's really quite a lot of fun.

For those of you who don't already know, I'm a big fan of the bicycle. It's a wonderful tool and toy, and it's so... mechanical. And a beautiful bicycle is a beautiful thing. There's something about it that is very appealing. Growing up in Ontario, I was very into mountain bikes and the off-road scene, it's dirty, it's fast, it's an escape from the bustle of the big city. But recently I restored a 1973 Peugeot road bike and my romance with the two-wheeler was rekindled. On top of that I have grown to embrace the thrill of moving very fast across smooth pavement as opposed to rocks and dirt. Just the other day I stumbled across this Video (Watch it!) and thought that it captured what it means to completely own the bustle of the big city instead of escape from it. If you've ever ridden your bike in this city, this is something you ought to check out.
