Peruna Jazzmen m Eva Taylor 1. Co. Mikael Zuschlag, 2.Co. Peter Aller, Cl. Claus Forchhammer, Trb. Arne Hojberg Pno. Annette Strauss, Bjo.Peter Fauershou, Tu. Leo Hechmann, Wasb. Lasse Borup, www.Peruna-jazzmen.dk
Rec Maj 1975 "Huset" Copenhagen

Eva Taylor, born Irene Gibbons, she was a grand lady with a sweet voice, (The Dixie Nightingale). She was married to Clarence Williams and made a lot of records with His Band in the 1920´ s She retired in the 40´s but travelled in Denmark and Sweden 1974 1975 1976. Recorded with Maggie´s Blue Five and Peruna Jazzmen. She also gave a lot of Concerts with them. She died in 1977

The merry bells are ringing to day, but they don´t mean nothing to me.
I hear the children singing and play, so I ´m as blue as I can be
Old Santa Claus forgot my address, that one thing I can plainly see
It may be Christmas to some folks, it´s just December 25th to me.

No money no honey to buy a present for me
Nobody no Toddy to make things plesent for me
Last night my stockings I hung, just like when I was young
But this morning, there was a vacancy
No mingeling no tinkeling , mama makes me (coy)?
No picking, on chicken, pork chop or tender loin.
Soon I ´ll hear the new years time, that just means, more hard times.
There´s much, so hard too loose, I got the Santa Claus Blues, -I mean, I got the Santa Claus Blues

Happy Christmas, Merry 2010!

well today is december 21, 2009... end of this decade of the millenium...

personally i'm glad to see it pass and ready to embrace the new decade...

it's been a long hard 10 years... good things come too, don't get me wrong... but it's been long and hard...

i've been having difficulty getting excited for the holiday and instead have let myself just feel how i feel...

yes, i can participate, show up, smile, sing with the babies, play... bring christmas treats to work, but overall, i'm just not into it...

i'm not bah humbug or anything, i'm just very very reflective this year... and though i can still feel joy... overall, this is a strange time and my heart feels a lot of loss around me...

my friend sofie posted this video on facebook, and it brought up so many memories.

It is one of my favorite moments in this movie, "network"... and it's still appropriate for today...

I have used this line more than a handful of times over the past 10 years and so i repost her post because it defines how i still feel regardless of what time of year it is and who is our president... i'm still mad as hell...

i think collaboration is where it is anymore... sometimes i feel stagnant in my work unless i'm talking about it with someone else or we are sharing ideas... and watching musicians play (especially in LIVE settings) really bring that home for me.

Check out this video: K.C. McKanzie

I don't know, but i just love stand up bass (acoustic double bass?)... love how they play together...

Watching the bass player makes me miss my dad... he played acoustic bass... wonder if it's too late for me to learn it?? makes me choke up everytime i see it played... maybe i'm a weanie... missing daddy... i could learn like i want to pick up the guitar again, learn the harp and plunk away again at the piano... maybe i'm a misplaced artist...

sorry i digress... enjoy the vid...
