We've scheduled an in-store performance at Criminal Records this Friday, August 28th at 7:30 PM, in the heart of Little 5 Points. We'll be playing our infamous lounge set. Expect a laid back, easy listening AEW experience, slightly different from our usual schtick.

xoxo,
Phoebe Cates

cd_release_flyer_wb.jpg Congratulations. You are invited to a musical revolution. On August 29, 2009, we will unleash the power of our second album, The Ancient Cry of the Tyrannosaur, live at The EARL in Atlanta, GA. To celebrate, we've planned a rock and roll revival that will set your soul on fire. We're talking about an evening of pure, unadulterated rock music that will boil the very marrow of your bones! Woodstock? Altamont? The 100 Club? Yeah, something along those lines.

First up we've got Tendaberry, from right here in the ANTA! They've got a new wave/post-punk sound unlike any you've heard before. You better show up with your dancing shoes on, because the mere sound of their music will have your body involuntarily gyrating to the beat. Who's next, you ask? None other than the greatest country band in Athens, GA, The Bearfoot Hookers! If you haven't been to a Hookers show, then you don't know the first thing about a rock and roll revival. These boys play beer drinkin' gospel! By the end of their set, Rev. Tybo will have you all on your knees, taking a communion of pork rinds and PBR.

Finally, after you've all been whipped into a drunk, circle-pitting frenzy, Attractive Eighties Women will take the stage... FOR OUR LAST SHOW OF THE YEAR.

That's right. The last Attractive Eighties Women show of 2009. We're taking a break -- a four-month hiatus from performing to seek audience with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. We will be working with the Yogi to develop a new form of transcendental meditation, based on the visualization of large boobs with symmetrical areolae.

We've been preparing extensively for our trip to India in between rehearsals, mostly by eating Trader Joe's Paneer Tikka Masala. It seems to be working wonders for us, spiritually and as a band. The other day - as a direct result of the Yogi's breast visualization techniques - Kelly McGillis actually levitated 2-3 inches off the ground while playing the solo in "Death Skull Napalm Sword."

We vow to return, ready to rock by January 2010, refreshed and renewed by our time with the Yogi and our visions of beautiful bouncing jugs. Maybe we'll play a surprise show here or there. Who knows? But this CD release party is guaranteed to be the last REAL Attractive Eighties Women show for some time. SO YOU'D BETTER BE THERE! Tickets are just $8! Click here to buy them in advance!

...and did I mention that you get a free copy of our new album, The Ancient Cry of the Tyrannosaur, just for showing up?!

We'll be playing a bunch of our new songs and a bunch of old favorites. Expect the unexpected, including some new cover songs and special guest performers! This is going to be our most legendary performance since our last CD release party. If you are an AEW fan, you won't want to miss it. See you there!

xoxo,
Phoebe Cates

The wait is finally over! Our new album, The Ancient Cry of the Tyrannosaur, is almost here. To celebrate, we're releasing the first single from the album as a FREE download! Click here to visit our bandcamp site and get "Surfing or AIDS (I'll Take Surfing)" as a high quality mp3 or lossless file! You'll be able to get the full album on Aug. 29 at the EARL during our CD release party with The Bearfoot Hookers and Tendaberry. Buy advance tickets to the CD release party here.

If that's not enough AEWsomeness for you, check out this behind the scenes video, featuring the Death Skull Napalm Sword Choral Ensemble recording their sweet, sweet harmonies (WARNING! NSFW audio).

Vote for us!
That's right, it's time once again for Creative Loafing's Best of Atlanta! Voting takes only a few seconds (you only have to vote in 10 categories for your ballot to count). This year, we really think we deserve to win a couple of these, so we're asking you to specifically vote for us in these two categories:

Song with an Atlanta reference:
"Sock Man", "Stomp and Stammer", "Murder Kroger", "They Shoot Hipsters, Don't They?", or "Pandamonium" by Attractive Eighties Women
Local YouTube video:
"Attractive Eighties Women Need Your Help"

Feel free to vote for us in any other category you want, but come on! We all know that AEW have the best YouTube video this year, and the best local references in our songs!

xoxo,
Phoebe Cates

Hey, everyone. We're playing two shows this week. Try to make it out to one of them. First, we're playing Friday night at the Uptown Loft in Johns Creek. We're the first band and we go on at 9 PM. Then Saturday afternoon, we are playing everyone's favorite Atlanta music festival, Corndogorama. We hit the stage at 12:45 PM.

Upcoming shows
Jun 26 - Johns Creek, GA @ Uptown Loft w/ Green Eyed Stare & EchoesEnd
Jun 27 - Atlanta, GA @ East Atlanta Village - Corndogorama - Buy Tickets
Jul 11 - Athens, GA @ Caledonia w/ Excalibrah & The Buddy System & Allison Weiss
Aug 29 - East Atlanta, GA @ Earl - w/ Tendaberry & The Bearfoot Hookers - Buy Tickets

Kickstarter update
We've broken the $1,500 mark thanks to all of your generous donations. We still want to hit $2000 by July 10 (if we do, everyone who pre-orders our new album will get an exclusive t-shirt). With your help, we can do it! To pre-order the album, just donate $20 to our Kickstarter campaign. Also, for one day only we're offering a very special prize. If you donate $100 to our campaign before 6 PM today, you'll receive two (2) tickets to Eddie Vedder tonight at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre! Plus, you'll receive all the other prizes that donating $100 gets you! That's nearly half off the face value ($180)! More details can be found on our Kickstarter Page. So, if there are any Pearl Jam fans on our mailing list, you've just hit the jackpot. Also, don't forget, we're still uploading exclusive videos to the Kickstarter blog that only donors can see. We'll probably put a new one up later this week, so donate today!

See you at the show!

xoxo,
Phoebe Cates

Carolina Bound!

We're packing up our gas guzzlin' SUV and heading north for a meeting with Asheville's own Klustafuk. If you're going to be in the area, please do stop by. Cover is a $5 suggested donation, so if you are hard up for cash, don't sweat it! We just want to show these Carolina folks what AEW likes to do for fun (HINT: It's drinking!).

Kickstarter Update!

As you may have heard, we raised over $1000 in 27 hours! Thanks to everyone who donated. We're now trying to meet the new goal of $2000 so we can get our album printed in eco-friendly digi-packs. Please pre-order your copy of our new album by donating only $20 to our campaign. If we hit two grand, every donor, $20 and up, will receive an EXCLUSIVE AEW t-shirt, only availbe to our Kickstarter supporters. On top of that, the Kickstarter blog features EXCLUSIVE video updates from the band, not available anywhere else online. To access the blog, you can donate as little as $1. Please DONATE TODAY!

Spare some change?

Dear fans, friends, and family:

We need your help. We are trying to raise $1,000 by July 10 to print the first 500 copies of our new album.

We've spent the last three months in the studio recording and we're almost ready to unleash this beast upon an unsuspecting public. Imagine Exile on Main Street, crossed with Led Zepplin IV, add a dash of Reign in Blood, and I think you get the picture. CD players and car stereos across the Southeast will be melting this August, not from the oppressive summer heat, but from the mind-burning, earth-scorching, soul-splitting sounds of Attractive Eighties Women!

What do you get in return for helping us? Just visit our project page to see the list of fabulous prizes. Donations as small as $1 help, but as you donate more the rewards get better and better. Also, you will only be charged for your donation if we actually meet our $1,000 goal by the deadline.

We've spent a lot of time and money on this new album already, because we love making music and we love you. Without our fans, we'd have no reason to do this. We feel this is the very best work we've ever created and we want to share it with the world. We want you to hear this album. We want you to see the artwork and hold it in your hands. Please help us make that possible. DONATE TODAY!

Some bad news about our show at 529 Tomorrow night. The lead singer of
Lamb Handler had to have emergency dental surgery and they won't be
able to make it. Looks like it'll just be Attractive Eighties Women
flyin' solo. Doors open at 9 PM. Look for us to hit the stage sometime
around 10.

xoxo,
Phoebe Cates

PS - Don't forget to listen to us on The Regular Guys on 100.5 FM tomorrow at 8 AM!

That's right -- a date to remember! You will have two chances to hear Atlanta's greatest band, Attractive Eighties
Women, play LIVE!

The Regular Guys

All of you working stiffs commuting to your boring jobs, tune your radios to "Atlanta's Rock Station", Rock 100.5 at 8 AM to hear AEW performing live in the studio with The Regular Guys. Yeah, come on! After playing a portion of "Lighting Bolt", for their audience last week (audio here), the Regular Guys have been swamped with requests for more AEW action. So, we've been invited to their studio to play a live show. If you're lazy like me and not usually up at 8 AM then you can catch the replay of the show on the Regular Guys 24 Hour Video channel or download the podcasts, both of which are available on the Regular Guys website. The replay starts as soon as the show is over at 10 AM and the podcasts are usually uploaded shortly thereafter.

We are big fans of the Regular Guys and in honor of our appearance on their show, we will be releasing TWO NEW DEMOS, FREE on our website and myspace. Just head to either location on Wednesday morning and you'll be able to download studio recordings of our new songs "Surfing or AIDS (I'll Take Surfing)" and "DUI". We recorded these demos a while back and we'll be reentering the studio this Spring to record our brand new album!

Want to hear even more songs from the new album? Then take a trip to lovely East Atlanta Village Wednesday night to catch Attractive Eighties Women and Lamb Handler at 529. Lamb Handler are friends of ours from Charlotte, on tour to support their new album. They're really great -- sort of a southern rock Queens of the Stone Age. Get there early to check them out. If you haven't heard, 529 is a new bar in what used to be The Village Bar & Grill, right across the street from The Flatiron. It's been completely renovated and is really nice. It's also one of the smallest places we've ever played, so get there early if you want one of those primo front row spots (Ladies, I'm talkin' to you!)

Doors open at 9 PM, Lamb Handler goes on at 10 and AEW hits the stage around 11. Cover charge is only $5! Please remember that the Lamb Handler is on tour and bring some extra cash to buy their merch and support a great independent band. (You are also welcome to buy our merch!) See you there.

xoxo,
Phoebe Cates
