Last night was the stuff dreams are made of. It was the most incredible feeling to hear all of the voices of the people who have backed us from day one and all of the new down ass mafia family chanting our name over the background music "this ain’t a Scene" by fall out boy!! Wow, what better entrance scenario could’ve been thought up. before we went on stage Anna kinkade pulls me aside and asks "So are you nervous yet?". Unbeknownst to her, I hadn’t slept more than 2 hours a night the whole week leading up to this battle. I knew the stakes were high, and I knew we had the best bands preparing their best efforts, and bringin their best performances, and I didn’t underestimate that for one second. I was an histerical mess before we went on. LOL! Oh dear god. So I told her "Shit yeah i’m nervous, did you see the battle?"
Battles are intense. You know all of the bands, you respect all of the bands, most of the time yuo’re friends with the bands, and now, like North versus South, east Coast and West Coast, you’ve gotta try your best to beat the people you care for. I am so honored to be in the band that gets to represent p-town to the fullest for the next year, but what a crazy ride right?!? LOL!
So then I walk out and what do I see? A zoo of wild ass monkies arms in the air screamin their asses off! I nearly froze on the way to the mic. i mean, it was intimidating! It took me a good 30-40 secs to get my wits about me and do what we came to do....throw it the fuck down! Once we hit that first note I knew it was all up to you guyz...all i could do now, was play the songs the way we had in practice, and sacrifice my everything on that stage for the music....15 minutes that felt like 15 seconds.
It all happened so fast, I think i’m chronicling it like this so that I get the full grasp on what happened. When we paused and you all threw your hands up and started clapping along, i almost cried, it took my breath away. What a sight to behold, I pray someone filmed that. We hit that last note and I went and i sat on the sidelines when we were done and all i could think was, "well, that was our best, now it’s all up to the judges". That’s something to experience, you’ve had three days to practice with the new guitarist, thanx to a broken hand. You’ve just played the best you could possibly play, you watched the best fuckin group of fans in peoria put out the most energy that they could possibly muster and now.......STOP........ and wait. sit down and try not to chew your own arm off in the anticipation. FUCK!! I almost lost it.
Enough of this. All of the bands kicked crazy ass and I am proud to have shared the field of battle with you all... i love you all so much. To the Monkies, You’re truely the most incredible friends, fans and family a band could ask for, and we’re infinently thankful to call you OUR fans. The Mindset mafia family...say it proud....The City is Ours!!!
Much Mad Love Always
