Coming up to the end of the year and we've got some nice gigs to finish off in December.
First there's a return to Cheltenham on Saturday the 12th to see the boys from the Underground again. We've then got a couple of Christmas gigs in our new hometown Sheffield. The 24th at the Washington followed by Christmas Eve at West Street.
We'll be showing off some new material at these gigs so come along to see what we've been doing since our move to the UK. How much of the UK music scene has rubbed off on the Monicans? You'll have to come see us to find out.
Anyways the move to Sheffield is feeling like a good one so any Sheffielders wanting to hear something new come on down to see us...

Hi all
Just a quick blog to announce our official relocation to Sheffield.
We've been here a couple of weeks now after extensive touring of the UK and Europe, and we no longer live in a van but a house!
We will continue touring England, with focus on the midlands, so keep your eyes peeled for us coming to a venue near you.

Current mood: restless
We are currently bunkered up in Drogheda, Ireland. Since we haven't jammed once in the 3 months we've been in the UK we needed some serious refinement time so are here working on suping up old stuff and working on new stuff. We've had some good gigs in both the UK and Scotland since the last blog was posted and have now got some European festival and gig dates on the go. We'll be heading into Europe mid-August followed by more touring of the England in September (see gigs section on main page). We also look forward to returning to Scotland in October as well as our first date in France. Until then we will be posting more videos on Youtube so keep your eyes peeled...

Lew returned from Crowle and after another quiet week we played a gig at the White Hart in Holmfirth, a bit rusty after exactly two weeks withour playing, but went ok.
We then promptly got outta Yorkshire, and England, and headed for the Northen most gig we're probably gonna had. It was a nine hour drive to Wick but with the sun rising at about 4am the drive was nice enough, plenty of Scotland at a glance. We went through Perth but didn't stop, hopefully we'll be able to take a look on the way back down.
We played at the Blackstairs Lounge in Wick. The atmosphere was really great, one of the best gigs so far. It was a great night all round and we even enjoyed the tunes the local band Sunny Books and a few drinks with some Wick locals.

No gigs this week we got ourselves into a caravan park by a lake and the ducks were fun. We now in another caravan park near Peniston on a farm. Chooks, Sheep and Cattle.
Lew has gone to Crowle to his family while we are not playing any gigs.
That is all.

Current mood: scared
Crowle was wicked. Went out to The White Stag for pub quiz night. Lost miserably but got to experience some sweet ass traditional english nosh. lew embarrased himself at the local pub coz he was so shit at pool. We saw Drag Me to Hell and Lew was scared.
We never know what to expect when we rock up to a new venue and a new city, this time we didnt expect to play at a venue which was a restaurant during the day and RnB club at night and somehow managed to become a band venue somewhere in between. Surprisingly we played one of our best sets.
We went and saw the Panics at the Cockpit in Leeds, and were impressed to see them playing to a similar sized audience as some of our gigs, considering how big they are in Oz. They seem to have a similar struggle on their hands, only they've got a bit more experience and cash behind them to back em up. Also coincedently, to go along with the Aussie band there they had VB (Vic Bitter) at the bar, so we had a good reminisce of old days in Australia. We've also decided that up here around West Yorkshire, between Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, could be a good place to settle, for the time being a caravan park will suffice, anyone knowing a cheap place to rent please let us know.
PS Lew got a new splash, watch for it at the next gig, we're thinking of nick naming him Splashy. Anyone with an alternate nick name for Lew please let us know. Anyone who chooses the name that sticks gets a free CD.

Although we played three days in a row in three different cities we had a pretty quiet week. The first gig on Thursday was at the Concorde in Bristol we played a whopping 2 setter and gpt our second encore of the trip so far. We would like to give a big thanks to the guys there for helping us out, we left the next morning in high spirits. Friday we played at The Duke in Wales, a venue with loads of character, we werent able to stick around for too long, we hit the road that night to get to Bolton (Manchester).
We arrived there the next day to find out that the gig had been cancelled or something and we werent expected to show, but we did. We set up anyway and played some really bad Dylan covers to nobody. We had a jam with one of the lovely locals on the mic and may have even created a new song! As much as the gig was a shambles we really enjoyed having a drink with the pub locals into the wee hours. We left when the sun was coming up (which was at 4am!).
Now we are in a beautiful little town called Crowle until we head off back to Manchester to play at Joes Bar. Just soaking up the beer and sunshine.

Currently blogging from an internet cafe in Newquay, we've been hanging out in Glastonbury again, finally able to use the van and it sleeps well, currently surveying the southwest for potential gigs.
We had a gig on Friday in Cheltenham put on by the Cheltenham Underground, a great gig all seemed to like and we managed to unload some cd's too. Big kudos to the guys from the Underground looks like they've got a great scene happening there and we really can't wait to play there again. We're also considering the place as a base since its so central to all of England. We shall see.
Also had a quiet gig at the King Arthur in Glastonbury in the avo on bank holiday monday. Good to play a long set but we think we shouldn't have been plonked in front of the bar because the noise kinda scared people off, otherwise a fun jam and they were very hospitable as usual.
Otherwise nothing much else to report, and at 5p a minute time is money in this cafe (thats 10 cents Australian, big money).
PS - We looking to make some sort of video blog next time we get somewhere with power for the laptop and camera so keep an eye out.

The van complete, we returned to the main land. The seas were fine making for a comfortable boat trip, with some sweet as chicken and pie. although the rest of the food sucked big time. we did get to watch 3 ninjas: high noon and mega mountain, which guest starred Hulk Hogan as Dave Dragon. The inclusion of breakfast and lunch, along with access to tea, coffee and juice all day, also assisted the band in the 8 hour jouney (to think what it would be on a rough day, slowly shifting across the high seas, stacked up like the Scottish Highlands ready to devour any small cargo carrying vessels venturing to deep into the trecharous terain) Arrived in London, struggled to park our big van in tiny space. played with 2 other acts both acoustic. so felt a little outa place. columbus and crusoe were cool and interesting. Following the gig at the Bull and Gate we travelled into the centre of London and viewed the sights that everyone knows like Buckingham Palace and Big Ben. Saw some famous art by van gogh and picasso. We found Denmark street and all its music stores, and were amazed how they all manage to keep going with so many versions of the same shop viying for business. We then finished off the vans interior, insulating and carpeting the walls, and named her Julie. We will be collecting posters and pics to put on the walls. The week ended in a fun way with a gig at The Fleece in Chelmsford which included a delicious pizza, which the somehow managed to stuff with sauce, like in the crust ya know, pretty tasty. Free beer kept the night flowing after an ok set, and a dude named Scott who really dug us. We gave the man a free cd and sent him on his way (NOTE: anybody want a free cd? Just come say we were awesome and ye shall receive!). The next day we returned to good old Glastonbury and played at the Market House Inn. Pretty dead but played a couple of good sets. So we can jam without our electrified equipment and drums we all got an instrument each that we can jam with. Paul on acoutsic guitar, Lew got a Djembe and Heather a baby accordian. Currently hanging out in a room there waiting to see what will happen next...probably back in the van tomorrow night so we finally get to test her out as a sleeping hole, keep posted.
