We just got off of the road from our first three month tour. Jill and I (troubaduo.com) had a great time seeing CA, OR, WA, ID, UT, CO, NM, AZ, TX and LA. We also met so many great people and built a following by touring heavily and performing 3-4 times per week. But what effected us most from the tour was learning how very different each culture is even in different states of the U.S. We also found that almost every state/culture is starting to suffer from the current U.S. economic downfall. We feel blessed and fortunate to be able to tour and play music for a living, especially at this time in history. Everywhere we played asked us to return so we're currently booking our next tour for September through December while break from the road to record a TROUBADUO EP. The EP will be released by January 2010 at the latest unless we make time to somehow finish the recording/mastering before hitting the road the first week of September. We're staying busy, but extremely happy and have no complaints since we're getting the chance of a lifetime to perform our art while hoping it somehow helps the nice people we meet along the way in bars, breweries, wineries, restaurants, hotels, colleges, festivals, etc.

Bryson VanCleve has been named one of the TOP 5 VOCALISTS OF THE MONTH by SONGWRITER UNIVERSE MAGAZINE of Los Angeles, CA. This award is very prestigious and difficult to achieve. Each month Songwriter Universe Magazine gives out a few awards to talented International artists they believe in. Only the top singers and songwriters in the world such as Grammy winners, major record label artists, and a select few indie artists, are able to achieve a feature in this major publication. Many thanks to Songwriter Universe Magazine for their recognition of BVC's talent.

Please visit preemptivelove.org. Kadeeja is a 16 year old girl who has been on a waiting list for a heart surgery in Iraq for the last 12 years. She has heart complications and in need of surgery soon. She only needs $400 more to make it so please help at PreemptiveLove.org. They are a reputable non-profit and all donations are tax deductible. If you cannot give money, then please spread the word about Preemptive Love. Children in Northern Iraq have heart complications unlike anywhere else in the world. Because of Chemical Warfare launched on their villages by Saddam Hussein in previous years, the children find themselves struggling to have energy at school and generally fall asleep right after they get home from school due to their heart conditions. Read more at PreemptiveLove.org and help put a stop to these child deaths. ----------------------------- Update: Kadeeja's surgery was very complicated but was successful. The doctor said she wouldn't have lasted two more weeks. Many children die from these heart complications daily and don't ever get the chance to receive a new heart. PreemptiveLove.org is putting a stop to this and just sent 8 children into successful heart surgeries. Please help out by donating money, or spreading the word if you have no money. Also visit BuyShoesSaveLives.com which is Preemptive Love's program as well. You get a one of a kind hip, hand-made pair of shoes from Iraq and ALL of the proceeds go to saving lives!

Love and be obssessed with what is uncommon yet beautiful. What is uncommon and beautiful? The human spirit and soul... you... your heart & core... what makes you unique. If you’ve been knocked down in life, don’t hate life, stand back up and take on the world... (don’t hate life, hate the world...haha I say that somewhat jokingly). If you feel like you were wronged then there’s going to be a time of suffering within where you try to figure out what in hell happened and why. It’s a time of pain that must happen before the healing can occur. I believe the good-hearted person can and should lay low for a while, but they will always have to rise again to overcome the world’s obsticles. They will always live again. If the opinions of others have told you different, ignore them and follow the message from your mind (wisdom), in correlation with the message from your heart (purpose). If you’ve been knocked down, it’s all right to hurt (though some act as if you should be all sunshine and smiles... your human!) Give it time, then listen to your soul telling you to stand against the oppression and move forward. Clarity will come to you along with peace, happiness, blah, blah, blah and all of that great stuff. Then and only then will you find that LOVE IS ALIVE.
A song/poem I wrote in 2007
"Laying low tonight Been knocked down by people I trust One too many times New wars collide Evertime I attempt to lift my head To survive
Someday we will find love’s alive Only in few can we confide Walking that thin line between heart and mind Without both I can’t have life
Laying low tonight Clothed in darkness from head to toe Unable to view light Greatest fears are preyed upon Not the fear of dying The fear of living alone
Someday we will find love’s alive Only in few can we confide Walking that thin line between heart and mind Without both I can’t survive Without both I can’t have life
It takes big hearts time to realize You’ve suffered wrong and it’s time to stand To look oppression in the eye Sayin, Hey love, I was wrong about you You stabbed me so deep in the back w/ a jagged knife I have no choice now but to push it through Because I can’t undwind When pain kills time And I hope it doesn’t burden me the rest of my life Bottled on the inside
Someday we will find Love’s alive Only in few can we confide Walking that thin line Between heart and mind Without both I can’t have life"
When i wrote that one year ago I couldn’t feel any hope and I was suffering within constantly. I’ve found love is alive today when I finally learned to LOVE MYSELF and not others soley... when I learned to love myself and not take negativity from others. I hope you find that love is alive as I have, and I hope that you can always move on and continue living.

Some of us wake up every morning and hear music in our heads. Some of us will stop at nothing to portray our feelings and artistic purpose through music. Some of us will never sell out and will always continue writing what comes from our soul even when major execs tell us to change (then the next wk they want you to change again). Some of us will continue on through all opposition to make music and write songs because it's what gives us peace since we feel like it is our purpose in life. For those of us classified under this odd yet beautiful category, Gillian Welch has written the perfect song in my opinion. You are greatly appreciated Gillian! You pierce the soul and paint pictures with your words.
Now, here are some lyrics for you die-hard singer/songwriters and musicians out there.
EVERYTHING IS FREE Album: Time (The Revelator) Artist: Gillian Welch
Everything is free now That's what they say Everything I ever loved I'm going to give it away Someone hit the big score They figured it out That we're gonna do it anyway Even if doesn't pay
I can get a tip jar Gas up the car And try to make a little change Down at the bar Or I can get a straight job I've done it before I never minded working hard It's who I'm working for
Every day I wake up And I'm in a song But I don't need to run around I just stay home And sing a little love song My love, to myself If there's something that you want to hear You can sing it yourself
'Cause everything is free now That what I say No one's got to listen to The words in my head Someone hit the big score And I figured it out That we're gonna do it anyway Even if doesn't pay

Yo friends, i finally have some new tunes posted. Two of the tunes are currently being used by Sony Electronics on their website and at their promotional shows. The two tunes featured by Sony Electronics are "We Carry On" (the new version of course) and "Peace of Mind". You can check those tunes out along with "Serenity" and "Find Your Song" on this myspace page. Concerning these songs, the plan is to release them on a full band album in 2008. Recording for the full band album will continue over the next several months and will feature Bob Daspit's production and Curt Bisquera's world renowned studio work! Besides that, check back on myspace for some new acoustic music that will be released in Spring 2008 on the upcoming album "Halfway to Homeless". It is about 80% recorded as is. I'm extremly proud and excited about "Halfway to Homeless" because it has more of an indie/artistic feel than "Basics of Insanity" and I think real music fans will appreciate it and see it as something that can stand the test of time. I feel it will be a cd that will be completely misunderstood and possibly hated by many, while being loved by the true music fans (those music fans who are always searching for new music over the net because they're tired from the one 20 song rotation featured on their local air waves daily.) I'll find out soon enough I suppose. Take it easy

As always, I've passed the deadlines set to finish up these recordings for my next two albums. However, it's sounding nice! The mix on my new four song demo (which will go toward the next full band album) is complete. The demo is getting mastered next week. After the mastering I'll post some tunes up on myspace. I'm also doing some last minute add-ons to the acoustic album. I'm unsure of how long this will take, but I also expect to have a few acoustic tunes on myspace to sample within a month. It's all coming together in perfect time. I just don't want to rush something and put out a cd with anything on it that I don't believe in.
