Hey hey!

So I thought I'd take it upon myself to let everyone know what we're doing or not doing right now!

Call The Medic, Call The Nurse!! seems to be quite on the quiet side with us all doing other things and such.

We don't really know what's happening with the band right now (do we
call it a hiatus? or maybe a break with no specific re-commencement
point? perhaps the second one).

OK... right now...

Kyle is playing drums with a couple of bands. One is called The Revery
who do are kinda rock and roll, kinda hardcore. The other is un-named
and is a recording project with some friends of his. I've
heard bit of it and it sounds nice and brutal. Neither have myspaces at
the moment, though I'm sure they will soon.

Dave is, last I heard, recording a drone guitar solo project. Lots of delays and heaviness and such.

Ham is still playing bass for Yeah Bears and recorded an album with law enforcement inspired hardcore band, Crime Night.

Matt is still doing vox, guitar and bass for Hira Hira.

and I (Simo) am still playing as Simo Soo and have started a new band called electiclitoris.

Thanks so much to everyone who has been messaging us about things still. It's really nice to read.

See you soon?

xoxo

SET THE VOCALS TO KAREN O

Love songs are passe, love songs are sad
This is a boy, spiked and jaded who's had
It's all been written, it's all been said
This is a boy, spiked and jaded who's had

Your bodies electric, we live packed in cotton

Late night store jail-bait, late night store heist
Wax figures copulating in the night

Crack crack your face
Crack crack your 8 track

Hide until everyone forgets, hide until everyone dies (Yoko Ono)

NO PLAYING WITH THE DIRTY COW CREATURES THIS IS SERIOUS WORK WE DO

De La Soul, they'll kill us all, De La Soul, they sold us out and they suck
De La Soul, it's in a song, De La Soul sit the fuck down

Cyanide in the street light, I'm at the top of my...
And mosquitoes linger with lust for blood, game and I hate you so...
Cyanide in the street light, it's so sud- it's so sudden

JR KIMBALL

Impossible levels of violence, eons you owe but unity times infinite
Lower octagon velocity, eleven motel yokel lank stain fuck man

Pascifies lust, octagon octagon
Keep inside, keep it safe from nuclear gas
Octagon, Octagon

Style this option, style this octagon

Levels of violence, impossible levels of violence

This is where you never get tired of me

Help sister nuclear

PENGUINS SHMENGUINS

You wear your tight black dress, figures made of wax twist and evoke
You point your shiny red flag, rather solumn intricate poses
Was it you staring at the back of my neck, standing in the spotlight of the museum floor
You'll be left dead

Melt, plug up the light sockets
Solidify, plug up the lights

Hide until everyone forgets about you, hide until everyone dies
We are so small, we are so tall

You wear your tight black dress, encasing each other in their drippings
You point your shiny red flag, slowly setting fire to themselves
Was it you staring at the back of my neck, so they can become
You'll be left dead, so they can become one another

hi

so we have a completed ep we need to put out and know we have a lot of indie labels, distro and pressing types on our friend list so i figure this is the easiest way to address you all.

we're all really proud of this recording and can't wait to get it out. anyone who would like to help would very much appreciated. we're happy to put it out ourselves though the idea of indie label backing would not be shunned upon as we a) don't have a ton of money to release it and b) would be grateful to be able to get it into the hands of people we might not be able to on our own.

so if anyone out there in internet-land is interested send us a message and well have a friendly chat.

either way were so excited to get it out and travel to new places to get it to many many new people

thanks
simo & ctmctn

p.s. we have shirts and badges we'll be putting out soon too, well let you know how you can get one if you want one. ta

Hi!
Simo here. So we recorded today. Here's what happened told in a story telling type of way beginning at the start of the day, obviously.

Kyle and Dave picked me up around 9 this morning after spending all Saturday recovering from Friday night, I was feeling a little not too good. A good night's sleep still hadn't really fixed me up, but Refused, slurpees and cigarettes on the way helped things along.

We got to the studios at around 9:30, woke up Tim, Ham arrived and we started loading our vast array of instruments we'd brought for the day in. 3 guitars, bass, drums, 2 keyboards, violin, mbira, percussion stuff, melodica, noisy spring echo thing I'm not sure of's name, similar thing in mic form and clarinet later we were ready to go. Unfortunately, the PC we were recording on decided to be a bastard and not work. So a few phone calls and a trip to the shops for food later (where I bought a BRILLIANT kids piano for $10, if you've heard of the band Y Pants, it's the same type they used) we started tracking the 2 songs that we had to do from scratch.

First up we recorded our newest song 'Set The Vocals To Karen O' (a lovely ditty about not having anything to sing about because everything that could ever be written about has allready has been written about, with cheeky references to our song 'Penguins Shmengiuns'). We got basic drums, guitars and bass down second take and moved onto overdubs. During the droney-repeat-times-lots end Kyle sat by Dave's guitar and handed him screwdrivers, butter knives, drumsticks and tongs to make noise with at his disposal (see photo below). Kyle played clarinet on the song.

After that we did a song which at the moment goes by the un-imaginative title of 'Drum Intro', a song we usually play first or second in our live show. A repetitive noisy number which could be our ode to Some Girls' 'Deathface' in that it repeats and repeats to the point of wanting to break things and not in a testosterone stupor but out of sudden insanity brought on by it's repitition (thanks to my best friend Kimba's $36 Yamaha PSR 4600 synth she bought on eBay and a part I only wrote 2 days ago it calms down in the end, though). We did many many tracks of guitars on it. 6? 7? I don't know. It's no 'Siamese Dream' but that's a lot of guitars for us.

THEN! Ummmmm we added bits and pieces of guitar and melodica to '...Cow Creatures'.

Then it was on to recording vocals to '...Karen O', 'Penguins Shmenguins' and a song which goes by the terrible terrible (Yes, Ham) working name of 'Cheese Riot'. Tim liked the song name, but he would.

'Set The Vocals To Karen O' was easy and quick and other manner of words with good meaning behind them. For the ending Dave, Ham and I read things which was then reversed for the recording. It sounds evil but really Dave was just reading our recording schedule for the day, I was reading an article from the Alternative Press and Ham was (I think) reading random lyrics of ours from a song book.

'Penguins...' was easy. We weren't able to get our friend Kat of Emergency! Emergency! in with us to do a spoken word part for the ending as she couldn't make it BUT Kat if you're reading this we have to go back to do vocals for a song we didn't finish vocals for (which I'll explain in a minute) SO get in touch! Hooray!

'The song which will soon be formally known as Cheese Riot' was rather horrid to us. We all really like this song. It's probably been our most easily accessible song. We've played it live maybe 3 times at the most but we can never get the vocals right. Today was of no exception. At one point Dave even sang the vocals of our song 'And I'm Paraphrasing At Best' over it (this was the first song we ever recorded, it was me and Dave screaming over electronic beats). So that song for the short time-being will remain instrumental until we go back to mix everything.

After that we were all quite fammished. We burnt 3 copies of it, showed Tim a Damn Arms video clip, he showed us some stuff on Youtube and we went our seperate merry ways.

Twas a lovely day. The EP is nearly finished and we all really really came wait to get it out so we can show it to all our friends and be happy and listen to it ourselves when no one's around.

That's all for now
K bye!
