In June 2007, our band had the tremendous pleasure of playing at the Shortgrass Festival in Cimarron, New Mexico. Andrew Carriere came with us, and Grizzley, of course.
Cimarron is a small town with a big heart. The people we met there, including our hosts, Landon and Sharon, were engaging, warm, inquisitive and lots of fun.
We stayed in an historic hotel, the St. James, and played one night at the parish hall.
The festival is relatively new, and has brought musicians from far and wide, representing many musical genres. Folks danced to our music, and later we had a chance to talk with dozens of the festivalgoers at a reception in the St. James hotel.
A cousin of the band, Ray Laskowitz, came up from Albuquerque and photographed us during the festival. You can view some of his photos, and some of our own, in the photo album here called "Cimarron".
Cimarron and the Shortgrass Festival are highly recommended for some down home, straight-shooting good times.
