I am sorry to say Rev. Bob & the Darkness is officially disbanding. We have survived many transitions in the past but the end has finally come.
Many of us have too many other obligations to juggle things through this summer, and I feel that replacing people at this point and starting over yet again is asking too much.

To be honest the current line-up has really been the best ever and the idea of replacing any of them seems impossible to me - it will never be the same.

I have to thank all of the members and all of our fans for their support of the music and their efforts at shows - these past couple of months have been the best ever.

I will continue doing music, but will be focusing on writing and recording mostly for the next year, with a few solo appearances.

Michael and his family are heading back to Seattle in the next couple of weeks.

Raquel will be heading westward as well, to go to law school, in the next couple of months.

Mark is currently concentrating on work, interning and school full time, and may be more out in the scene as he finishes classes, but has been doing various recording sessions.

Cutty and John each have other music projects around the Boston area - I will try to post gigs as they come up.

All of our gigs will be cancelled immediately. The next show in Salem on June 13th will continue as scheduled with Lonesome Red, however I will be appearing solo and will announce details next week.

New recordings, pictures and video will be posted this summer from this year's Rev. Bob & the Darkness performances. All of our websites(facebook, myspace) will remain as they are with periodical updates, but by the end of the summer the www.gosaveyourself.com site and its mailing list will be revamped and focus more on my current personal projects while still keeping the bands info and presence in tact.

Any one wishing to be removed from the mailing list or updates, just let me know. I have no wish to hijack any of this for my personal use, but to add the band as a very important part of my portfolio and to keep fans of the music aware of new developments as they come out.

All CD's and merchandise will continue to be available through the sites as well as on Emusic, Rhapsody, and iTunes. In fact merch. that was only available at show will be made available online, and rare recordings and mixes will be made available for download as I dig through them.

I wish everyone the best, and thank you so much for being apart of this and making it possible!

Sincerely,
Rev. Bob Matros

Well at least I got this posted before the month was over...

We are playing up in Salem this Saturday.
Its a FREE show at http://www.gulu-gulu.com/" >Gulu-Gulu - 247 Essex St. in the heart of Salem MA. Great food and the beer and wine selection is excellent.
It will be our last show with our dear friend Pete Varga on mandolin as he is going to pursue his fortune overseas. Pete has been great to work with so please come out to see him off.
We will have guests performing with us as well, including a lovely young lady named Raquel sitting in on vocals. We're playing all night starting at 8PM and doing 3 sets. I'll be digging up tunes many of you never heard before.

Other sad news for our line-up is that Julia has moved on and performing her own material with her new band, the Deckhands (which includes Cutty on drums). You can check them out on myspace at :http://www.myspace.com/thedeckhands" >www.myspace.com/thedeckhands . Julia proves to be a great songwriter as well as a great performer.

More news on the way...

What's that you say?  You want to check out Rev Bob & The Darkness at The Gulu Gulu Cafe in Lynn this weekend but don't have transportation to do so (i.e.a car)?  Well, we've done some investigating and as it turns out, The Gulu is T- accessable!  All you have to do is get on the commuter rail at North Station and Lynn is roughly a 20 minute ride from there on the Newbury/Rockport line.  Check it out:

Central Square in Lynn is apparently right nearby.  You now have no excuses.  See ya'll on Saturday!

Posted on our page now are very rough mixes of a few songs that will be appearing on our forthcoming cd Gallows Hill due out this fall.  Know that these songs are nowhere near the completed stage yet but we wanted to give ya'll a taste of what we've been working on thus far.  Recording and production of the new album is officially in "go mode" right now.  Apart from touching up and mixing the tracks posted here, we will also be recording a few more songs over what's shaping up to be a rather eventful summer for us gigwise (see the show listings for dates!).  Naturally we'll be keeping you posted on the progess as we go along, but in the meantime enjoy the new tracks and feel free to let us know what you think.

And as always, for more info go to our website at www.gosaveyourself.com
