CREEPING BENT is 15!!!
The Creeping Bent Organisation reaches the ripe old age of 15 this coming December. To celebrate this fact, two performances have been organized in cahoots with Sounds in the Suburbs. Vic Godard & the Subway Sect plus the Sexual Objects play the Citrus Club in Edinburgh on Friday 4th ..hen Stereo in Glasgow the following night, at which Flesh will also perform.
Creeping Bent was officially launched with a maxi–media event at Glasgow’s Tramway Theatre on 12th December 1994. The event was called A Leap Into The Void (BENT 001), in homage to Yves Klein, and featured film / theatre / pop ….made - up by a variety of artists. Over the years Creeping Bent has focused on audio & visual stimulation, releasing music by an eclectic array of artists operating across several genres. Here is an example of some of the artists who have worked with Creeping Bent over the years; The Nectarine No9, Appendix Out, Found, The Secret Goldfish, Bill Wells & Isobel Campbell, Alan Vega / RCTJ, Adventures in Stereo, Bricolage, Future Pilot AKA, The Sexual Objects, Monica Queen, Fire Engines …
There have been several highlights along the way, perhaps the most prestigious was being chosen by John Peel as the featured label when he curated the Meltdown Festival at the Royal Festival Hall… perhaps having Creeping Bent artists record 20 sessions for Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show comes a close second.
2009 /10 :
GARETH SAGER / Slack Slack Music
Gareth Sager recently released his debut solo album, 30 years after his band the Pop Group first erupted. Slack Slack Music received great reviews across the board, well deserved too.
NME : 8/10 – “full throttle agro – funk,..the disco Captain Beefheart,..mega..” Mojo : 4/5 - “post – punk maverick,...aural anarchy,..from chaos, true genius arises” Uncut : 4/5 - “kicks up a stink... rediscovered fire and brimstone” The Scotsman : 4/5 – “industrial strength jazz – punk”
FAKE EYELASHES / A Little Bit Of Bread & No Cheese Fake Eyelashes release their debut album early in 2010, an album of rural ruminations rather akin to the sad n’ milky vibe of Nico’s Chelsea Girl.
WE CAN STILL PICNIC
The Creeping Bent Organisation launches a new (old) digital label to kick – start 2010. The concept of the label is to reissue albums that are long – deleted / live bootlegs / unreleased material. The label is called We Can Still Picnic, and gets under way with digital reissues of A Sea With Three Stars and Saint Jack by The Nectarine No9. A Sea With Three Stars was the debut release by The Nectarine No9, both it and the follow up album (Saint Jack) were released on Postcard Records to great acclaim. However, both albums have been unavailable in any format for a number of years, the release of these albums on We Can Still Picnic is the first time the material will be available as digital downloads.
Other planned releases on We Can Still Picnic include Vic Godard & The Leopards, Article 58, Jazzateers, Mackenzies, Fire Engines, The Secret Goldfish, Jock Scot / The Nectarine No9, et al.
REDPACK COMMUNICATIONS
Redpack Communications is an entryist vehicle for subverting pop. We’re currently developing FLESH (www.myspace.com/fleshdisco) and POST for mass - market intervention. Flesh is currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album, Sick Electricity.
CREEPING BENT ARTIST MANAGEMENT
New albums are currently works in progress by The Sexual Objects, The Kingfishers, and Future Pilot AKA. We are in advanced discussions with a number of potential strategic partners, all with a view to gaining maximum exposure for our artists.
