Listen to the interview here.

"Fresh Air is a free music festival that will be transmitted directly into your ears via The Small Hours on Today FM. Donal Dineen has chosen his pick of the best new Irish sound makers to take part in a month-long celebration of great new music, live on your radio. For the month of November, Donal will have a invited guest act live on air for The Small Hours to play live, chat to Donal and play a selection of their own favourite tunes, effectively curating the show for the night. The Small Hours is on Today FM from midnight – 2am and the shows are archived for a week right here. We’ve plans to do something special and longer lasting with the archive of the Fresh Air shows, but stay tuned for more on that."  (from freshairfestival.wordpress.com)

"The beauty is in the detail. Carlow-born Jimmy Behan has been producing pristine, emotional, intricate electro-acoustic music for a couple of years. Since his 2004 debut, Days Are What We Live In , he has taken a less-is-more approach to his sound palate. This process of refinement and streamlining, as well as the obvious influence of more minimal composers, has led Behan to The Echo Garden , a beautifully mannered series of barely-there shapes, shifts and shadows. It’s quite clear from the way Behan manages and develops these micro-moods and flickering bursts of ambient soundscapes on tracks such as Clock For No Time that he can do quite a lot with very little. Best of all, he has retained the warm, emotional heart and soul that stirred in the midst of his earlier work." 4/5
Jim Carroll | Irish Times

"As if incorporating the essence of pastoral beauty, The Echo Garden opens up to all senses, revealing its dazzling complex of sweet sounds, refined tastes, impressionist images and sensual perfumes in small doses of complementary quality. The music is the movie here. Listening with your inner eyes will bring out the full cinematic qualities of this tender trip."

The original recording was made by Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville on April 9, 1860 using his own invention, the phonautograph, and consists of a series of scratches on a roll of blackened paper. Scott had never developed a way to play back his recordings and they went unheard for 148 years. In 2008, scientists at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory converted the thin lines back into audio, allowing us to hear a woman singing a segment of the folk song “Au Clair de la Lune”.

The 2xCD compilation, Au Clair De La Lune, is available from INFREQUENCY.ORG and features many acclaimed artists such as Steve Roden, Stephen Vitiello & Molly Berg, Bernhard Günter and Christophe Charles.

An excerpt from the piece Ghost of a Bird has been selected as part of the FrammentAzioni project, presented by TEM - Tuakay Edizioni Musicali.

'The selected compositions will be played continuously in sequence at a concert during the Contemporanea Festival in October in Udine (Italy) and broadcast from Taukay Web Radio, the first Italian web radio station dedicated entirely to contemporary music.
A video recording of the concert is also scheduled. Over the sequence, the dance company “Arearea” will present an expressly dedicated choreography.

The idea underlying this project has a broad international perspective. It is based on the idea that brief “fragments” of sound can be edited together to accompany movements, “actions”, in a continuum where chance is able to construct a fascinating audio-visual sequence.
Using the internet, artists were asked to send pieces of no more than 60 seconds in length to Taukay Edizioni Musicali, in order to participate in a kind of collective musical composition.
The time limit was a substantial challenge for the participants, calling for an essential nature which required complete control of the sonic events in the search for the heart of the music.
The result is a phenomenal and multi-faceted compositional whole, made up of 61 compositions chosen from 716 works submitted from 34 countries, to which the contemporary dance company “Arearea” has added the expression of movement.'

Lambert will invite a selection of irish and international sound artists and musicians to contribute to Relay over the duration of the project. He will record an initial sound work and then relay this piece to the first contributor. Each work will be published online as it is completed, and this page will map the path of this dialogue of ideas between artists.'

''Antwarps is a gorgeous compilation album consists of early works by aus (Yasuhiko Fukuzono) from Tokyo. All the tracks on the album were selected from his groundbreaking debut album Kangaroo Note (2004) and the sublime follow-up album Crowding (2005) from U-Cover CDr Limited. These two albums were previously released as limited edition albums of which only 95 copies were produced for each of the albums. Antwarps is an elegant collection of fresh and melodic IDM, strong beat oriented electronica and ambient works by aus who was only 21 years old by then. This album also includes exclusive bonus remixes by The Boats, Geskia and Jimmy Behan.' (from www.preco-records.com).
