If you were "friends" with my personal MySpace profile, you may have noticed that it's no longer there. No, I'm not mad at you ;). I decided to remove it because I wasn't really doing anything with it. I was spending more time cleaning spam off of it than actually posting with it.

Just dropping a note here to let everyone know that Stellar Vector's new album "You're Not Included" is now on Jamendo. If you have not seen Jamendo before, it is kind of a mix between last.fm and pandora. Basically it's an internet radio/distribution site for independent music. I hope you enjoy the album. I share guitar duties on it with this blue haired guy.

The EP contains 5 songs that the band feels explores different areas where someone would feel excluded from a whole. From feeling ostracized from a clique (Houston Complex) to feeling separated from a decision (Escape Clause), and even the joy of finding someone else who is excluded in kind (Love in A440). These songs cross different sound-scapes and alternate narratives to explore how separation functions in different facets of human interaction.

I went to the show this evening. I'm not strongly versed with Frank's music, so I can't give a proper song list/blow by blow, but here is what I can say:

The concert was incredible. As stated, I'm not a huge Zappa junky, but the band, and the music managed to keep me entirely focused and in the groove for 2.5 hours.

I *might* be biased, but Steve Vai seemed to be the main attraction for the show. His hitting the stage caused the first full-up standing ovation of the night. Steve has been to Minnesota many times and has sold out venues equal in size to the one this show was in, including the historic First Avenue.

[NERD ALERT]
I haven't seen Vai since he was in Saint Paul, Minnesota for the Real Illusions tour, but I noticed a few new things in his setup that made me take note. If this is old news, please forgive me: Steve's amp speaker cabinets have black electrical tape running over the grill across the speakers cones. I can only guess this would serve the same purpose as a Beam Blocker. SRV was known to do the same. Also, from what I could tell from my perspective, Steve had a Legacy 2x12 pointed at his head as an additional monitor.

Evo and Flo were the only two guitars used by Steve.

Steve had his usual 2 Legacy head setup going. If anyone thinks that he's not really using those heads and has a Bogner back stage is now proven wrong. After Steve left the stage, there was a loud 60 cycle hum, and Thomas came out and put the amps on standby and the sound went dark.

Tone-wise, Steve has never sounded better. The G-System is doing him justice if not reinvigorating the upper-mids thru the high end of his tone.
[..NERD ALERT]

My only, very minor complaint was that there wasn't a lot of interaction between Vai and Bozzio.

The best part of the night IMHO was when Dweezil talked about how different his dad was from today's music. Everyone on stage got weepy.

For what it's worth. In the 2nd song in Steve's set, He played a lot of clean leads which exposed his Page influences. I'd love to hear more of this.
