The Laconia Citizen interviewed me last week about my contributions to the debt collection and business industry and how being a woman affects that.  If you can't pick up a copy of the paper, you can check out the story online at http://www.citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080102/GJBUSINESS02/840661244/-1/CITIZEN

In 2007, Michelle Dunn was nominated for 5 prestigious awards in the debt collection industry as well as the business industry.  Dunn's awards are more than an ego boost; they help Dunn stand out in a crowd of bigger companies with more money to spend on marketing and promotion.  "It never crosses my mind that I cannot be nominated for any award because I am not in L.A. or New York", says this N.H. resident. "I have been nominated because of my expertise and because I get the job done and done very well", says Dunn.

Michelle was nominated for the 2007 Inc.com Entrepreneur of the Year Award as well as the 2007 New Hampshire Business Review 2007 Business Excellence Award.  Michelle's award winning book "Starting a Collection Agency, how to make money collecting money" won the 2007 New York Book Festival Award in addition to other awards it has won in the past.  The third edition of this award winning book is being released in January 2008 and has already been entered into the ForeWord Book of the Year Awards contest.  Michelle was named one of the Top 5 Women in Collections in 2007 and has been nominated as one of the Top 5 Women in Collections for 2008 as well as one of the Top 50 most influential Collection Professionals of 2007.

The recognition these nominations and awards bring to Dunn and her work is well deserved.  Having been an entrepreneur for 10 years as well as a bill collector for 19 years, Dunn is also the author of 7 published books on the subject of business finance. Michelle is a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal and is frequently interviewed for popular financial magazines such as Forbes and Smart Money as well as radio and television shows nationwide.

"Entrepreneurship is essential to society and can really help our sagging economy", says Dunn.  "Anything someone can do to help promote people going into business for themselves, being successful and creating jobs for others is a tremendous feat and should be encouraged."   Michelle helps to promote education about business and finance with her books, her Credit & Collections Association, with interviews and articles as well as speaking at industry events.
