After touring North America for 2 months this summer and receiving airplay in Toronto and southern Ontario, southern Alberta, Vancouver Island and Northwest Territories for my single 'Hurts So Hard' I've finally broken the Vancouver barrier with my second single 'This Is The Soundtrack' which is now being played on Shore 104.1 FM!  Listen online anywhere in the world at www.shore104.com

This is exciting as I'm in the midst of shooting new music videos for 'This Is The Soundtrack' and 'I Want To Fall' - so the releases of these to my youtube channel (youtube.com/davidblairmusic) should be done by Christmas!

Tour dates for January 2010 will be posted shortly as I'm organizing a tour for BC,AB and will also get to Ontario for March so stay tuned for those dates!

Finally - but certainly not least - this week I was also featured in the Georgia Straight - a Vancouver city paper with a circulation of 750,000 - check out the great article here!

It was gorgeous day in Vancouver so I decided to film myself singing 'Nothing Left To Prove' - I was so excited to sing that I forgot to put my seatbelt on til halfway through the song! You'll see me laugh about it...

Wow - how this tour has been inspiring, amazing and breath taking at times as I've had the pleasure of meeting some of the friendliest people in North America!

One of the things I really wanted to do this tour was do a video blog on my travels and share some special moments with you - either while I was by myself driving, or meeting cool people along the way and having special conversations with them!  Right now I've posted 3 video blogs - that last one being of the Canadian Rockies and my journey there - and so that brings me to the obvious point that I'm waay behind on them - I'm in Ottawa right now and I've travelled some 100 hours in my car to get here - it definately hasn't been a straight line - I can tell you that!!
That being said - I wanted to give you my youtube channel to check them out at - which is here:  www.youtube.com/davidblairmusic
I WILL catch up sooner than later and will be posting new blogs asap!!  So watch out for yourself if you came to one of my shows on tour - cause you may pop up on the video with soundtrack music in the background!! lol

Be sure to check them out - and I shall keep you up today date on them - there is some hilarious random footage I couldn't have planned!

I've said for years so many times without even knowing what the pain was actually like -that saying " its a real pain in the butt - or a$$" ....  You just say it without even probably ever experiencing a real pain there ever - its just a figure of speech really right?....

I wish.

Well no longer am I saying that lightly.... for I have a REAL PAIN in my butt literally - the result of a muscle (called the Piriformus - which I don't expect you to remember unless this happens to you) spasming out on my sciatic nerve (which sends all your feeling down your legs) like a spoiled 9 year old that has been refused candy at disneyland on summer vacation!!

Two weeks of 10/10 pain, endless stretching, massaging, doctor visits, chiropractor visits, massage therapy and sleepless nights - have left me exhausted but much more aware and appreciative of the muscles in my back and butt!  I have now visited chiropractors in Calgary, Wisconsin, and Chicago - and we'll see if I see one in Cleveland - I'm doing a video blog on this as well...laugh at me cause trust me you don't want this pain!

That being said - the people that I've met up til this point on tour have been amazing - like the Early Family in Saskatoon who pretty much adopted me for a 4 days, and the Arboleta family in Chicago that has put me up for most of my stay while themselves moving into a new home!

The thing I love about the road that makes all my pain (literally) worthwhile - is all the new friendships and surprises along the way - like the breaking stereotypes (in my mind) that the Prairies (in both Canada and the US) are boring places - or the mid-west doesn't have much (thousands of lakes and the warmest people around) - its no wonder everyone there can survive the winters - they are so friendly it warms the whole town up! :)

So am I having fun on this tour?  Absolutely.   Like always, its the people that make the place - so though I'm in some of the most pain of my life - I'm still having some of the most fun at the same time - which is a real irony.  I can't wait til I get to enjoy this sans the pain in my A$$!

Til next time!

So as I'm on tour right now lots of great things are happening for me on the road as one might expect - great people, crazy stories of misfortune and fortune but something cool and unexpected happened the other day and I have to post it here:  I got a letter from the Mayor of the City I live in! :)

My parents are amazing troopers and are taking care of my house while I'm gone and they were kind enough to call me and let me know of this wonderful letter that came in the mail the other day and so without further adieu I shall post it here for you - it makes me feel all kinda special! ;)  Its dated Feb 26th, 2009

"I recently read about the cd release of your new album titled 'Things Left Unsaid'.  Congratulations on this new launch and your upcoming tour through BC and AB to promote your new compilation of music"

"I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and commend you for being the co-founder of the non-profit youth group, School Alliance of Student Songwriters."

"Its is great to see individuals in our community such as you that continue to raise the bar and assist those that share a personal similar dream, and provide them with a platform and opportunity to showcase their talents."

"I wish you continued success and you tour throughout western Canada and hope that nothing will be 'left unsaid' upon your arrival in Los Angeles, as you continue on your career path."

"Please keep up the great work in assisting and mentoring your fellow artists, and thanks again for proving that Port Coquitlam is home to some great citizens!"

sincerely,
Greg Moore
Mayor of Port Coquitlam

The Georgia Straight has been one of my favourite magazines to check out for opinions on music, live shows, movies and culture in Vancouver for a loooong time - so when they agreed to sponsor my cd release on Feb 20th - I was ecstatic!!  The cool thing is that they've also added an online contest where you can have a chance to win tickets to my show and a copy of my new album 'Things Left Unsaid'!  So here is the link to the contest

See you sooon! :)

Thank you for all your wonderful wishes of good will for my birthday but my b-day is actually July 21st!   For some reason when I started up this account there was no place to change the date so it mistakenly makes my birthday out to be Jan 1st!  Soooo ya now ya know - I'm a summer baby so save the wishes for then!  Thank you so much for thinking of me though! :)

As some of you may or may not know -  I teach songwriting to students from grades 6-12 in middle and highschools during the week in my neighbourhood and yesterday we got a little write up in the local paper that was absolutely stellar which I wanted to share with you here.  My cd release in February will be a fundraiser as well for this very program called the School Alliance of Student Songwriters (SASS).

What the heck is this program all about you might say?  Well as brief as I can put it - me and my partner Don Mcleod (singer/songwriter/producer) - provide as much opportunity as we can - to give students a voice through developing their songwriting and performing skills.  We teach, but also have professional guests come in and talk about the business from their perspective - our most successful guest so far being Jim Vallance (co-writer with Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Heart, Alice Cooper and Glass Tiger among others).  Its about building friends that write songs and who want to write songs with you - which makes it just a little more interesting than math class...lol
