So it looks like Jay is coming home from his year-long overseas jaunt sometime in Feb, and there's a 95% chance we're gonna do a Capital City tour in March. I say 95% because there's every possibility, being that Jay's been to some fucked up, out of the way places, that he'll come back as a dreadlocked, pot-smoking hippy who's pretty much resigned from society and won't even remember that he's in a band. . .oh, wait a minute. . . Anyway, we're going to tour, and as soon as we have more info, you'll fucken know about it. Up ya bum, and GO HAWKS. gordy

Yo W.A. cunts, I'm hitting your State this coming weekend for my last ever Mindsnare shows. Come and buy us all a beer.

Friday @ Amplifier
Saturday @ Prince Of Wales Bunbury
Sunday @ HQ skatepark in Leederville

All the shows are with The Seduction (which should stoke all you widdly-diddly tech metal weirdos), and Melbourne/UK powerhouse, Meatlocker. If you don't at least come to see Meatlocker, don't even bother trying to call yourself a good cunt, they will rip your fucken head off.

Blue Murder, Bombshellzine & New World Artists present

FRENZAL RHOMB

Plus special guests

Don't miss this. For a band of considerable age they still rip shit up, as evidenced on their last album Forever Malcolm Young (Shock). In the olden days you could see them every second week. Not anymore. Frenzal will NOT be touring in 2008 so you'd better go to these shows or you'll be suffering by the time 2009 rolls around. At least we didn't do a John Farnham and tell you this is the last one. It probably isn't…

Frenzal have officially pulled out of the Uni'SA O'Ball and Brisbane's Overcranked Festival.

Here is an official press release from the band's management.

"Due to serious family illness Frenzal Rhomb have decided to cancel their appearance at the upcoming overcranked festival in Brisbane on March 24th. The band apologise for the inconvenience to any fans who have bought tickets to see them play that day - hopefully the huge lineup and the replacement acts about to be announced by the promoters will be more than enough compensation. If not, ticket holders can obtain refunds by contacting Oztix on 07 3367 1126 or info@oztix.com.au. "

This is also the reason for Frenzal Rhomb pulling the plug on the Adelaide show.

Hey dudeses, it's time again! Yep, that's right, it's time to loosen the jeans, pull out the flannelette shirt, and wipe that silly mascara off your face. Why, do you ask? Has the government ruled silly dyed black hair and face-paint against the law? Have our esteemed leaders finally set a minimum waist-size to jean-size ratio? No, they're too busy pissing all over our educations and making our parents scared of us. No, I'll tell you why:

Frenzal Rhomb have a new album!

Yeah, it's a bit of a let down, I know. (if ít's any consolation, My Chemical Romance have a new song as well)

But yes, Frenzal Rhomb, us, me and the three other dudes. Jason, the long, thin streak of duckshit on the windscreen of punk rock; Gordy, the shortest and surliest midget in the punk rock freak show, and Brigadier Tommy Crease, manhandling the helm of the punk rock 2 million foot yacht. We've done the right thing and recorded a brand new album!

It's called Forever Malcolm Young. Yes, you can stop laughing now, I know we've done it again. Yep, a merciless stab at Youth Group (our mates) and ACDC (i wish they were our mates) in one go. And that's just the title!
We recorded 27 songs for this album, 20 of which you get on the disk. "20 songs?" I hear you say? Yes, 20! And the whole album goes for just under 35 minutes. That's an average of 1 minute 45 seconds per song. Now that's punk rock. Or just 4 ageing men with rapidly decreasing attention spans.

Of course, all of the usual punk rock suspects are touched upon: Underworld crime figures, bestiality, fuckwits who vote, fuckwits who don't vote, Brian Molko and altar boys. Yep, even altar boys get touched on. Just like behind the altar at church.
And if the songs don't reel you in like a salmon (or high class prostitute) at the end of Rex Hunt's reel, we've even tacked on a bonus Frenzal Rhomb DVD - "Sucking All Over The World". A DVD so amazing, only people over 40 will get the joke in the title! It's got us arsing around in England, us us arsing around in Taiwan, us arsing around in South Africa, us arsing around in Israel, even us arsing around in Australia. We even did a commentary from the recording studio, complete with random drug use, piano interludes and sideline comments from Uncle Bruz. That's right, Uncle Bruz!

Shit we love you guys.

So go down to the shops right now, buy yourself a fizzy soda, $1.10 worth of chips, the new FRENZAL RHOMB album FOREVER MALCOLM YOUNG and party like it's 1996!

see you at the amazingly small run of shows we're doing!!

Lindsay xox.

THE BAND

What's the story behind the name?
One upon a time there was a band named Frenzal Rhomb, and they lived happily ever after.

How did the band come together?
With a couple of years of synchronised practicing with a stopwatch, a small bucket and a group towel.

How long has the band been around?
12 years if it were a day

How would you describe your sound?
A fashionable melonge of angst ridden, deeply personal lyrics, abrasive, emotive riffery and rapid-fire drum attacks, played by striking black-tshirted bad-boys, the toughness of their neck tattoos softened by the androgynous femininity of their mascara. Oh, wait, that's every other punk rock band.

What's your current release? Tell us a little about it
We put out an album of new stuff, Sans Souci, about 3 years ago; and a compilation of old deleted stuff, For The Term Of Their Unnatural Lives, a bit after that; and are currently listening to the top 10 on the VH1 alternative charts, trying to think up new ideas for another album, due out mid-06, or whenever KissChasy send us the B-sides they don't need.

OFF THE STAGE

When did you decide you had to be a musician, and how did you go about it?
Started learning guitar when I was 14, coz my music teacher wanted me to learn piano (yep, fucking the system even then). Subsequently learnt to play every half-arsed seattle song from Pearl Jam to Alice In Chains, and back to Pearl Jam again. The Meanies and Cosmic Psychos played with Pearl Jam at Eastern Creek, and I shifted my gaze a little closer to home. Left School, went to uni, joined Frenzal Rhomb, left uni, disgraced family, rinsed, repeated.

What was your first band name and what style did you play?
Okay, this is a little embarrassing. In years 7 and 8 I remember playing a couple of horrific gigs in bands called something as inventive as the Time Bandits. Then, in year 9 and 10 Negla Delta belted out the hits of 90's Seattle to a mostly unimpressed audience.

Tell us three albums you couldn't live without in your collection:
Highway to Hell ACDC,
Less Talk More Rock Propagandhi,
My Daughter The Broad The Frogs

Best piece of musical advice you've been given:
Rock On, Regardless some dude from the Radiators, who signed my CD once.

Two groups/artists you'd love to take out on the road:
The Frogs (we've tried, they won't tour Australia), Kanye West.

Favourite song of your group?
Of all new tracks we're working on, my favourite right now is one that deals with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the divisive role the security barrier has played in it. It's called "Rabbi-proof fence"

The thing you most look forward to just before a tour is:
Getting to jump around like a fool for an hour in front of people who pay to see me jump around like a fool for an hour.

The thing you least look forward to before a tour is:
Being so old and unfit I can realistically only jump around like a fool for 3 and a half minutes before collapsing in a crumpled, pitiful, asthma-ridden heap.

When you're not doing band related stuff, what are you usually found doing?
Talking shit for three hours a day, thinking up shit to talk about the other 21.

ON THE STAGE / ROAD

What gear do you use?
Marshall JCM-800 with a Gibson SG plugged into it, via some crappy second hand Boss overdrive, distortion, octave, wah and delay pedals connected by a labyrinth of dodgy cables, all perfectly set up so that every single set, at least once, something goes wrong. You can set your watch by it. In fact, we should run a competition where contestants guess the time in the set that my side of the stage falls embarrassingly silent, and the winner gets the offending pedal, cable, guitar or amp thrown at their head.

Favourite place (city/town/country) you've toured and why?
It takes a lot for me to say this, but I must begrudgingly finally accept that Melbourne, due to it's massive array of vegan dining options, is better than Sydney.

Favourite venue to perform at and why?
Annandale in Sydney's pretty tops, but let's face it, give us a rider, a stage and a foldback speaker and we couldn't care where we play.

Who hogs the stereo in the van the most?
Gordy. Not just the most, completely.

After a week in the van/bus on tour which band member will have the messiest section, and what would we most likely find stashed there?
Me. I tend to spread my filth evenly over any place I spend more than 4 minutes in. This includes apple cores, empty chip packets, left-over soggy tofu burgers, melted tubs of nuttelex, congealed soy milk, alcoholic cider, support band demo CDs, copies of Vegan Voice with the centerfold ripped out, dirty tissues.

Most embarrassing moment on tour?
Guitar behind head, fly broken, dude out.

Give us a good quick 'on the road' story, funny, embarrassing, memorable, whatever
South Africa: Tom our bassplayer is hungover, given "Headache pill", which is really a laxative, before a six hour drive. Twenty minutes later as he pleads for the car to be stopped and jumps out to run into bushes, Gordy pulls out a BB gun. Fires at Tom. Tom doesn't have those pants anymore.

RIGHT NOW

What's getting the most spins in your stereo right now?
A band from Canada called Metric that a friend sent me. You've never heard of them. That makes me infinitely cooler than you. Until you do hear of them, when I'll suddenly hate them.

Tell us a band or artist everyone should check out and why
See above, and also that band that you've heard of that I haven't, which makes you infinitely cooler than me.

If you could change one thing about the music industry today, what would it be?
The early starts.
