I know a lot of you guys already do this stuff, (we see it, thank you!), but things like this help us so much: - putting us in your top 8 [maystarband@gmail.com] - putting our song on your page - putting our picture and banner on your page with a link to us - writing myspace, LJ, and blogger blogs about us - telling every single person you know about us - showing people our myspace - playing our CD for people - even giving our song to people on a mix tape... - making posters with our name on them and putting them around your town - telling radio stations to play us - sending radio stations our music - putting like 2 or 3 of our MP3s on CDs and then handing them out to people at bars, clubs, your school, shows, etc..... with our name and myspace written on the CD - etc! any little thing you do helps us! so please do as much as you can! it's only because of FANS that music grows :) here's our current banner: .THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

We've got answers to this question scattered throughout our email account, myspace inbox, and comments... If you could put your answer here instead, that would be more helpful. Once we get 200+ people wanting us to play in a city, we'll start making plans to go there. But the answers need to be HERE, so that they are in ONE spot. It's impossible to find answers in old myspace mails..... Hopefully people actually read blogs....I have a feeling most don't. Anyway, if you are reading this, put the City, State, Country you want us to play in, some possiblve venues we could play at, and are you "ALL AGES" or "21+" ? I know right now, we've got more than a few people wanting us to go to: Florida Austin, Texas Houstin, Texas Dallas, Texas Australia England If you have friends that want to see us, tell them to leave a comment on this blog as well! Also, if you want to be notified of where we are playing next, you should sign up on our mailing list. To sign up, go to our website and put your email address in the box that says mailinglist. www.maystardesigns.com And don't forget to leave your location comment: amd this too!! NEW:

it will take some time....
and if you are the only one in your city who knows about us, you should tell your friends about us and have them tell their friends and so on! the more people in one place who want to see us, the more likely we will go play there!!!!!! just keep updating us on how many people want to see us from your town!
we haven't tried to find a record label yet...
so any touring we do, WE have to pay for.
and bands only make money in these ways: CDs shirts shows ... and even with shows, they don't give all of your ticket money to the band....the venue takes a lot of the money, or the promoter....
and with shirts and CDs, we had to pay to get them made....
so even though shirts cost you $16, we only make $6, because the rest is the money we had to buy the shirts for, and then to get them printed! we should probably charge $20 for our shirts, but we are too nice! we want you to be able to afford things.........
and now you know where the term "starving artist" comes from!!

Did you know that when you buy a song from snocap/myspace off a band's page, that snocap is taking between 39 and 45 cents per song?
So the band is only making a little over 50 cents a song, even though you are paying a dollar for that song.
And snocap doesn't even work for that money, do they? The band does all the promoting and marketing, and snocap just sits there, on their profile, waiting to make money off the poor indie bands.
I believe itunes takes a big percentage too?
So if a band sells 100 songs - which is hard with all the people downloading stuff for free, they would only make $50!!! At that rate, might as well give the songs away for free anyway!!
So yes. Whenever you LOVE an indie band, make sure to buy their CD directly from them. Buy over-priced shirts, and stickers, and anything you can. If you want your favorite bands to stay around, support them as much as you can.
a couple bands we support: snowden, french kicks check out their albums anti-anti, and trial of the century
