I'm leaving for the airport in a couple
hours....going to Nashville for the Songwriter's Festival. I'm excited to go but a bit anxious to fly on a small plane (CRJ) for such a long flight I've only been to Nashville once before - ran the Country Music 1/2 Marathon. That was a fun trip w/my sister. The race was good, a little tough having only been 4 wks since I ran LA's full marathon.Anyway....I'll be playing 5 sets over the weekend so if you find yourself in the area, head to Music Row and look for me to give me some love I checked the weather and it will be HOT and humid so I chose not to wear my cowboy boots....I believe the Nashville fashion police can issue me a ticket for that!

Ever find yourself agreeing to do something for someone as a "favor" for them because it seems easy enough to do and you could use the extra $$$? Well that would be me....always saying yes! And never really thinking how bad can it be? Let me tell you how bad it can be, but first let me say what I agreed to do. A "friend" goes away for 6 weeks over the summer and has pets that they usually bring. But due to the large hassle of flying these days....the pets stayed home and I agreed to house/pet sit. So here I am in this big house all to myself (YEAH!) to practice as much and loud as I want to. I just need to feed the animals once in the morning - let 'em outside for the day and bring 'em in by 7pm to feed 'em again. Ok...seems easy. But what if you don't know which animal (name) is which....there are 3 and none of 'em will let ya get w/in 5 feet of them. Ok so they don't eat and sleep outside in the cold. They'll come in soon enough. I can deal w/that. What I can't deal with is the FLEAS they've spread to MY legs!!!! I am a BIG GIANT red itchy mess and I just want to leave them to fend for themselves! Trying to work is crazy when I am constantly scratching! So if you have any advice as to how to rid of the fleas....PLEASE I BEG YOU to share!!!!!! I will most definitely think 2x next time I agree to do a favor for anyone!!!

House of Blues - Anheim - Acoustic Brew with Ernie Halter, if you don't know of him look him up.....he's an awesome musician! Mike and I went (my guitar player) and watched some of the performers before our debut. And then out of nowhere comes this roar of loud high pitched screams! (Think NKOTB....or N'SYNC fans). So we question it and Menudo( yes I said MENUDO) is also playing a show at HOB. GREAT! Bring on Ricky is what I am thinking.....but sorry - no Ricky;( Menudo is back - to the age of 15? All new members and obsessed/crazed preteen fans! So after their little performance on the mainstage - they visit the Voodoo Lounge - where Acoustic Brew is held. I sing one of my new songs -YEAH LILLY scream the fans....Haha -and then Menudo appears to sing acoustic. But WAIT! Says Ernie....you can't perform YET because your opening act.....Mike Physick (my guitar player) hasn't performed yet. So Menudo exits the stage and Mike appears - singing a cover of Jack Johnson. The crowd goes CRAZY over the performance....and Menudo leaves the venue to board the bus to their next town. I guess they felt they couldn't compete with Mike and his Jack Johnson song! Anyway.....it was a very interesting and FUN night....and Menudo smiled and complimented me on my song;) Love the House of Blues!

I believe my first memory of him (JBJ) was of long frizzy hair rockin’ on the mic in tight jeans and a t-shirt.....on MTV of course. I was probably just a kid singing along Wanted Dead or Alive. A few years later I remember one of my schoolmates Morgan was OBSESSED with this band and I was in disbelief as to why she would skip school to go downtown Chicago in hopes to catch a glimmer of Bon Jovi in person. So the years go by the tunes keep coming with classic hits like Living on a Prayer, Bed of Roses, Everyday, Keep the Faith, and one of my personal faves It’s My Life! With all of these great tunes, you can’t help but to become a fan! All these years of hits and tours - I finally caught a show, last night in Anaheim. To be killin’ it on stage with the band and a sold out crowd of 25,000+ fans singing along 25 YEARS after his first big break.....amazing! Bon Jovi still has it:) If you get the chance to see him when he rolls through your town....spend the money! It will be worth it:)

What can you accomplish in 1 hour and 19 minutes? Feeling adventurous? I was....last weekend. And with a few days notice (roughly 4 days), I signed up for my first triathlon! YIKES.....did I even train for it? NO WAY! Unless you count my teaching (job) of circuit training class and spin class. But when was the last time I swam? I believe it was in December when I was in Hawaii for the marathon. Anyway - I was a bit nervous, but wanted to give it a "tri" Hahaha...ok so that was cheesy I know. This triathlon was at the famous Rose Bowl in Pasadena and was competed backwards - meaning we ran, rode and then swam. So 3 mile run, 9 mile bike and 150m swim. The run was good - even though I knew I could push faster, I held back. The bike was tough.....probably because I took my bike out of storage 2 days prior and dusted it off, put air in the tires and didn’t check the gears....as they were a bit rusty! They worked well enough for me to finish the ride allowing EVERYONE to pass me by:( And finally on to the swim.....agghh....3 laps in the pool. Piece of cake.....or so I thought until the last lap when 1/2 way thru some guy practically swam over the top of me forcing water up my nose and in my mouth....I choked and quite possibly felt as if my arms would FALL OFF....but I continued my crawl to the end of the pool and climbed out:) 1:19. So all 3 of the top finishers of the 50-54 age group beat my time....but wait til I get some training in and THEN watch out! And after all of that I figured I could of done so much more in just 1:19....like laundry, dishes, dusting....gardening, a nap!
