Featured review;

Dutty Devioso's album "Up The Ante" was mastered by "Mastering Guru" Dicarlo at OMM.  Dicarlo's mastering really brought out the characteristics and dynamics of each track. Dicarlo is such a perfectionist. He wants to nail each track perfectly.  He makes sure you are completely satisfied with each track, while offering valuable tips and tricks you can do in the mix process.  Bottom Line:  If you want industry level masters, Dicarlo is your man... Look No Further!!! (Dicarlo also mixes and produces as well) "Total Package" - Thanks for making Dutty Devioso's Album "Up The Ante" A Classic & One of the Best Independent "Hip-Hop/Rap" Albums of The Year.

Hey friends & fans,

It’s Semi-Finals time at OurStage.com, America’s great independent music and video discovery destination, and I..m shooting for top act of the month. There’s quite a bit at stake here, such as gigs at festivals and other career-making goodies.

And this means, of the thousands of bands competing to be 1, DICARLO stands a decent chance of taking it. If you already voted me into the Semi-Finals, I hope you’ll come back and support me again. If not,I hope you’ll vote for me now.

So thanks for your vote, if you did – it means a lot. And please vote for me again. If you’re not yet an OurStage member, you can easily become one right now, right here. It’s fast, easy and free.

The song is called "HURTS SO GOOD", and please join my Fan Club while you..re there. :)

HURTS SO GOOD, by DICARLO on OurStage

I need 20 more fans by March 31st. That..s tomorrow!!!! :)

Thank you.

DiCarlo Productions - Love Is The Key
Hear The Track
--------------------------------
I've come across the artist mostly known as DICARLO on lots and lots of different sites (but mainly Soundclick) but I think this is absolutely the first time I have ever reviewed a track by him. I picked up a little about him along the way, he seems to live life through two cities; Berlin and New York and they happen to be two of the most musical cities on the planet so that should tell you something. He is a drummer by preference but obviously it goes a lot, lot further than that and the overidding impression of you get of this artist is that he has paid the dues, taken the lumps and improved beyond measure in both technical and emotional appeal.

In other words, a thorough going professional.

There shouldn't be, therefore, anything much to say about the technical aspects of Love Is The Key. To my ears, even before I hear note one, it should be perfect in every detail - and indeed it is. Leaving whether you like the style or content about the only thing left to talk about. Seriously, Love Is The Key is exactly what I would have expected from someone of DICARLO's experience; a clean clear mix with enough vocal headroom to give the voices the room they need to breathe and yeah amen, emote. Having worked in a Brooklyn NYC recording studio during the early 1980's I was exposed to a lot of material like Love Is The Key, all of it brilliantly written and realised. The sort of track you KNOW would work in radio and probably everywhere else too. Where are they now? Nowhere, most of that material never even seen the light of day, and that includes some great unreleased Bobby McFerrin stuff.

Aaah, but the internet is a very different place and I can see a masive audience for this wonderful song, sung with consummate ease by Ingrid Arthur a voice I would like to hear a great deal more of. Veering between fairly commercial R&B and adapting an almost spiritual/gospel feel as a second taste, it's also a track that has plenty of mileage in it. If I had to FIND a gripe (a small one admittedly) it would have to be the slight overuse of the echo on bits of the vocal. In all other respects, Love Is The Key is a terrific track that should rightly be making its way out there in the real world music business because - face it - that's where it belongs. In the meantime, though, us lucky so and so's get to have it all to ourselves. It's a very middle of the road stle though but don't let that put you off, this is craftsmanship of a high order.

Highly Recommended Soul Siren.

Steve Gilmore has done tens of thousands of reviews and writes for several internet magazines. I though this was a pretty cool review.
Have a listen to "LOVE IS THE KEY" and feel free to post your comments.
Thanks.

"DICARLO IS THE BEST".

I can do better than that . . .
DICARLO IS THE BEST.

I have spent 2 years writing, recording, mixing and 'waiting' to create this hours worth of music.
When it came time to Master the work, I decided to try 3 different companies.
Hope you understand Dicarlo, because this is my first CD and I wanted to be sure my work received THE BEST treatment available.

The first company sent me 1 sample.
The second, uploaded all 13 songs where I have access to them.
Dicarlo sent me 3 songs on 2 occasions for a total of 6.

Simply by comparing, I could tell Dicarlo really 'digs in' to the tracks and does what's necessary to bring out the best aspects.
Each song was studied, to identify flaws(I know where they are) and they have been addressed.

The other 2 companies seem to have laid all of my songs down on a conveyor belt and pushed a button and ran them through a machine.
When I listen to their work, I can't believe they actually listened to the tracks before sending them to me.
Both of these companies charge less, but the savings aren't worth it.
(If anyone would like the name of the other 2 companies, send me a PM and I will get back with you.You really do want to stay away from them.)

I will say it again.
DICARLO IS THE BEST.
It's quite obvious to me that he really cares about his work.
Next time, I won't have to, 'shop around' . . .

Robin

Thats a great customer review man, For our first CD we went through a mastering company here in LA, although they eventually did a great job, we did have some problems in the beginning. They actually sent us a master with clicks and pops in one of our songs, and those clicks were not on the original wav's. Needless to say i wrote to them and told them how unimpressed i was and how it was obvious they hadn't listen to the final mix or else they would have heard the clicks. I got another master back within 2 days and everything was fine.

For our next CD i might have you try a sample and maybe we will go with you this time. Anyway, I'll be sending those banners to you this weekend mate. Sorry for the delay. KMP[/quote]

Hi Everyone,

I just returned from 1 1/2 months in Zurich, and man did I have a great time.
I was down there doing pre-productions with my partner Lorenzo for a young up and coming R&B/Hip Hop group, that´s being sponsored by the state. We completed 3 songs while I was there, basically just recording the backing tracks on my notebook and bouncing them to 24 bit audio wav files  for the big studio, Dynamo Studio, so the kids could lay down their vocals and raps.  We would have completed more, had I not had a major computer crash,  have my to have my notebook repaired, and have to reinstall all my programs and plugins once again. :(  That  was a real pain, and set us back a bit. We actually have 4 songs finished, because they decided to use one of my tracks called "Stop The Guns". More on that later. :)
I was staying with a very talented singer/songwriter (Larry Woodley), who I´d worked with together with Lorenzo in December 2006, and we did a few gigs while I was there as well. What a power trio!!!!!!! WOW!!!!! :)
Larry was also working on his CD, which will be coming out very shortly. He´s got some killer songs on there, and judging by the audience reactions when we played the songs, I think it will be a do very well. I´ll be returning to Zurich in the next months to finish up more pre-productions for the young R&B/Hip Hop group´s CD, as well as doing promotional gigs for Larry´s CD.
I LOVE ZURICH!!!!!! :)
And this time I got a chance to see a bit more of other parts of Switzerland, which was very cool. :)
I met lots of beautiful people, and just had a fantastic time. :)
I also took lots of photos, and have posted some of them here in my PIC`s. Be sure to check them out.

Larry & Lorenzo are like my brothers. "We Are Family" :)
Man, I really miss those guys.
Aah Ladies, don´t get me wrong, I miss ya´ll too. :) lol

Peace,
D

Added; For all of you that have never been to Zurich or Switzerland, I think you will really enjoy the photos. :)

Ok, you´re looking for original beats and songs that don´t sound like everyone else? You´ve come to the right place.
I´ve just uploaded "DICARLO BEATS & SONG SNIPPETS" on my page.
I deleted my Drum Solo, because who wants to here a drum solo anyway? lol
I´ve talked with a music lawyer and am having a contract drawn up for licensing my beats and songs, and have uploaded short examples of 10 tracks for you to get an idea. I have tons more, but My Space will only allow around 8 mb, so what you´re hearing is a very low quality 80 kbps mp3.
Which surprisingly enough still sounds pretty good, and will give you an idea what they would sound like in 16 bit CD quality.  They kick butt!!!! :)
Anyway, anyone interested in licensing any of my beats or songs, just holla at me at info@online-mixing-and-mastering.com

All the best,
DICARLO

Added; I´m also into doing custom tailored beats and song writing.
If you have an idea, something special in mind, hit me up.
