I was associate producer for this documentary short film. I'm very proud of it and hope you'll get a chance to see it! Dig Comics World Premiere Screening at San Diego Comic-Con International Film Festival
Olmos Productions To Produce Long-Form Follow-Up
LOS ANGELES – The documentary short film Dig Comics has
been selected for screening at the Comic-Con International: Independent
Film Festival on July 25, 2009. An exclusive question and answer
session with director/host Miguel Cima will precede the screening.
Including interviews with Eisner®-winning writer Jeph Loeb (Lost, Heroes) and indie comics visionary Dame Darcy (Meatcake), as well as animation by Scott Shaw! (The Flintstones, Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew) and Emmy®-winning Russell Calabrese (Pinky and the Brain), the documentary challenges America to Dig Comics.
The documentary is hosted by writer/director Miguel Cima, who talks
with comic book creators and retailers. He also conducts unique
man-on-the-street experiments to find out what happened with America’s
affection for comics.
Both a love letter to the American art form of comics and a call to arms to increase the dwindling audience, Dig Comics
has already won the attention of Edward James Olmos’ company Olmos
Productions, which has agreed to produce a long-form full-length Dig Comics.
Olmos believes that as a medium, comic books not only increase literacy
but also serves as an inspirational learning tool for both students and
teachers.

In case you haven't noticed, my MySpace page now has a nifty little live Twitter feed embedded. If you don't see it, try reloading the page.
I've also got a similar feed on my website CoreyBlake.com.
My daily life is pretty fascinating, so I'm sure you'll want to pay close attention to anything I write about. OK, that was self-deprecating sarcasm, but really, you should follow me! I'll even follow you back! Then we'll be bestest of friends forever! Yes no maybe?

Quick links: You might remember that last year, Nahleen and I participated in the WalkMS event for Greater Los Angeles. Our team raised over $17,000 in the fight to wipe out multiple sclerosis forever. The entire event raised over $1 million. The money we raised went far in finding a cure and creating programs that help people with MS live their lives day to day. For that, I thank you deeply. In case you missed it, I put together a video of our day at last year's WalkMS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrlQ9gU-9HUBut all of that good news doesn't mean the fight is over. Every hour of every day, someone is still diagnosed with MS. And every hour of every day, those with MS still struggle with a myriad of symptoms, from fatigue and cognitive problems, to muscle weakness and speech problems, to paralysis. That's why I registered for the MS Walk and that's why I'm asking you to support my fund raising efforts with a tax-deductible donation. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS but they can't do it without our help. It's faster and easier than ever to support this cause that's so important to me. Simply click on the link at the bottom of this message. If you prefer, you can send your contribution to the address listed below. Any amount, great or small, helps to make a difference in the lives of people with MS. I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know how I do. Thank you! P.S. If you would like more information about the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, how proceeds from the MS Walk are used, or the other ways you can get involved in the fight against MS, please visit nationalmssociety.org. A couple of weeks ago, I was formally invited to become a full member of the main company of The Magic Meathands improv comedy ensemble. I was and am honored to be asked, and so of course I accepted! For the past year, I’ve been studying under director Bill Johnson’s Magic Meathands training program and performing in the Saturday student medley showcases once a month. It’s a great environment to learn and grow. I highly recommend it. (And I don’t even get any kind of commission!) Now, I’ll be performing with the rest of the very funny main company members on a fairly regular basis on Thursday nights at The Spot Café & Lounge in Culver City, as well as other performances to be announced. Keep an eye on the Magic Meathands’ calendar. My first show as a featured player of the main company will be next Thursday, January 29th, 8:00 PM. Admission: $5. Again, that’s at The Spot. I hope to see you there!

The Golden Hour Approacheth! I'll be performing with the main company of The Magic Meathands this Thursday at The Spot Café & Lounge in Culver City at 8 PM. Tickets are $5. Over the last year I've been studying under this group's director Bill Johnson. Some of you have been to the "student medley" shows on Saturdays once a month. This Thursday show will be among my first performances with this wonderful improv group as I (hopefully) transition into the main company. Please come by and support me, so that they'll be fooled into thinking I'm really funny.

It's that time of month again! Yes, it's time for the monthly improv comedy show with The Magic Meathands! (If you haven't checked it out yet, they have a YouTube channel where they regularly post clips of their Thursday shows.) As before, I'll be performing with other improvisors at The Spot Café & Lounge at 4455 Overland Ave., Culver City, 90230. It's between Virginia Ave. and Jefferson Blvd. The show starts at 8 PM and is absolutely free! There's also yummy food that The Spot sells, so you can make it a whole night out, if you like. I hope to see you there! PS: If you'd like to keep up to date on shows and other Corey Blake shenanigans, I've set up a fancy mailing list thingie you can sign up for. Or subscribe to my blog at CoreyBlake.com.

Saturday I spent the day at Comic-Con International in San Diego serving as Barbie's professional photograher. I'll let her walk us through these and provide captions. Take it away, Barbie! Thanks, Corey! I'm sure a lot of you are wondering what a super-cute and cool chick like me was doing at "Nerd Vegas". Normally I wouldn't be caught dead there but that all changed this past weekend! This is My Comic-Con Adventure! It all started Friday night… I got back from shopping early and found Ken reading something weird. Like, gross weird. That's right, he was reading PORN! Read more

On April 6th, 2008, the Walk MS event was held at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in southern California. Nahleen Blake, co-captain of the National MS Society's TeamMS who has MS herself, walked to raise money to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis. She brought some cameras to follow her on the 5K walk. Her team helped raise nearly $17,000 for the National MS Society. The event itself raised over $1.3 million. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research than any other private organization. In addition to supporting studies which hope to reveal the cause and course of the disease, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society also provides much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including the diagnosed, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them. Please visit the National MS Society for more information. Please visit Greater Los Angeles WalkMS page for more information on the April 6th Walk. The song used in this video is "Stand and Fight" by James Taylor from the 1981 album, Dad Loves His Work.

This Saturday at 8:00 PM, I will be performing with The Magic Meathands in a FREE-FREE-FREE show at The Spot Café & Lounge! The Bill Johnson that isn't a racist lawyer who just lost his bid to become a California Superior Court Judge will be leading us once again. These shows are always lots of fun, both for the performers and the audience (that's you!). So stop on by and enjoy some improv that's actually pretty dang good! Bring your laughs! Also, please check out the new CoreyBlake.com! I'm blogging over there on a more regular basis, and there's a link to my YouTube channel, which has some fun stuff up there. Like what, you ask? Well, there's an animated parody of Star Trek: The Next Generation, a fun Magellen commercial directed by Mark Edward Lewis, plus a demo I produced for Voices From Chornobyl, and more! Yes, that's right, more! Plus, there's also a new Mailing List that would like to be your email buddy. I hope to see you over there. Thanks for reading! -Corey
