Hello fans of the Flips, associates and affiliates of fans of the Flips, and various assorted cronies;

The Flips (also known as Deh Plips by our Fillipino brethren) are right at this moment putting the finishing touches on our latest EP, which has yet to gain a name. It will include three of the BEST songs the Flips have put out. The track listing reads as follows:

Physics

57/SixtyThree

The Way You Were

In other news, we will be playing Bean Counters Coffee House in Highland, IN on August 18th. The 19th of August will see the Flips playing O'Malleys Bar in Oak Lawn.  If you seek more info, consult our Upcoming Shows section of our main MySpace page.

Just recently, the Flips played the shit out of Soldier Field. If you missed it, which is like all of you, we'll put up some YouTube vids, which will be put up here and on the Facebook.

Well, that's it for now. Enjoy all the sweet Flips content up and coming in the next few days/weeks.

Love and kisses,

-Michael.

(note: if you find this blog unfunny, it's all my fault and is in no way shape or form a reflection of Nick or Drew)

Hello friends,

Well, we have been pretty quiet lately, and we would like to tell you why.
As of late, The Flips have been busy writing new songs and preparing to go into the studio again to record 2 or 3 songs. 2 of them we have been incorporating into our live set for quite some time now, and the 3rd one is brand new. We are positive you'll dig it.

We have a show a month from now. July 20th.
That will be at World Folk Music in my home of Beverly Hills, Chicago. That makes me sound so pretentious saying that. This is a very special show due to the fact that we are playing Dylan Lloyd. If any of you have taken a gander at his myspace page (which is on our top 8) then you will notice that his music style is much different than ours. It will be fun to have a show full of diverse music. You all should attend!

I hope everyone is having a kickass and safe summer.
Stay healthy, stay hydrated, and don't drink and drive kids. Its bad!

Also, don't be fools, wrap your tools.
Put condiments on your hot dogs.
What I'm trying to say is, wear condoms when you have intercourse.

I love you all.

Sincerely,
Nick

We hope you still enjoy us.

Our best friends: Andy and Lisa.

Andy is pretty much THE MAN. He was the guy who put up with so much bad perverted jokes and awful instrument playing and recorded our ep. If you are in a band and looking to record some solid material then you need to get in touch with Andy. He is super patient and can make the a not-so talented band sound pretty damn good.

Here is how: apadayao@yahoo.com

Andy, we love you and your silly bedroom antics.

Oh Lisa. You most likely have noticed all of the BEAUTIFUL new pictures of us Flips. This is because of Lisa and her wonderful camera skills. Everyone, go to her myspace page and pay homage to the amazing pictures. (hint, shes on the top 8 biznitches).

thanks again lovers....

Hello there, children!

Just from looking at our page, you can see that there have been some obvious changes. First and foremost: BRAND SPANKIN' NEW MUSIC! We just finished our EP and it sounds wonderrrful. Three r's. You want to know the most wonderrrful thing about it? It is absolutely free. It would cost you zero dollars to obtain this CD. You just come to the show, and say "Hey Flips, can I get a copy of that bitchin' EP of yours?", to which one of us would reply "Hellz yeah!" The only kicker is...we are poor and can only afford to make copies of the cd ourselves, so you wont be seeing any flip-fancy artwork or anything, except for the word "The Flips" written with a black sharpie. Bitchin'!

Okay so track by track, here is the low-down, er...down-low..

track 1: CYB
Fast, rocking good song that will have you humming it for days. Unless you are into bands like Necrphobic, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, or Extreme Noise Terror. (note, those are alllll real bands, look it up if you don't believe me...) We also incorporated the wood block into this song, so feast your ears mates. You will love this song, I swear. Especially if you love songs about prostituion and prison rape. Obviously it is on our myspace. Byah!

track 2: Love You Later
This is another pretty song. It is so pretty I would go so far as to saying I would play it in the background while I make love. You will probably hear this song on an elevator some day, so keep a lookout...or a hear out I would imagine...BYAHH!

track 3: Harder
Now, those of you who knew us for the past 2 years will know that Harder is an old song. However, for the past several months we revamped it and made it, well, "harder". Its fast and punk and all those cute things about rock and roll. BYAHHHH!

track 4: Monomania
this is the first song that we wrote where Drew and I can both sing together in beautiful tones of heterosexuality. That makes so much sense its not even funny. I found the word "monomania" while looking at www.dictionary.com word of the day. I guess it means to be overly obsessed with something. So I suppose you can say that when it comes to websites like scatlovers.com, I'm a monomaniac. byahhhh????

track 5: Go Back Home
There is not much to say about this song. It is an acoustic love song with harmonica on it. Basically, I learned how to play the harmonica and I wanted to write a song with it.

track 6: Fascination Street
This song is by a band called The Cure, and it is a pretty good reason for why we are giving away our CD. I'm still hoping we don't get sued. Everyone should go out and purchase The Cure's Disintegration album, because this song is soooooooo goooooo oo o o o od. Sorry, I just spurted... We play it a bit differently however. It is faster and louder. Much louder. Hey, if Alien Ant Farm can get famous with Smooth Criminal...then...when in Rome...

track 7: Harder (reprise) Instrumental type thing...
If you have ever seen a live show of ours then you have seen us play Harder. You may have also noticed that we have a 45 minute guitar solo at the end of it. Well we couldnt have that as one track on a cd, because it would be too long and you would just skip it like the jerks that you are. So its at the end. In a nutshell, after you hear this track, it will make you go out and buy a guitar because you wish you could solo as good as my lover.

Thanks.

Love,

Nick

Ashbary Coffeehouse.

This is where we played last night and it was soooo much fun. I know what you are thinking "But Nick? I thought I had something really cool going on in my life, but really it was just me just sitting around with my thumb up my ass doing nothing, thats why i couldnt make it!" To that I say "your loss."  Only because you missed some of the best bands and performances I have ever witnessed.

First up: Sound and Shape ( www.myspace.com/soundshape)
These guys kicked so much ass. It still hurts for me to take a shit. I think I said their name wrong when we were playing. I think I called them shapes and sounds. I feel super bad! Sorry guys! Everyone should check this band out. I think they said they have been touring since February. How exhausting does that sound? Yeah its time for nap... I didn't really get to catch their names but their music has been imbedded into my mind now. The guitarist and singer had definitely got his shit down. He is one of the most amazing guitarists I have ever watched. Their drummer was also awesome. Through his sensational stick twirling and his "moans". I use moans loosely because it was more of a "yelp" really. But I hope thats how he sounds when he climaxes. Their bassist was this most laid back looking man i have ever seen. He looked like mitch hedberg. only dirtier. They were all pretty dirty and pretty smelly. But I guess thats what happens when you are on tour for most of the year. I gotta hand it to them, they have had a lot of shit happen on their tour. I wish I could have bought 10 of their cd's just to help them out money wise! Most rocking band I've seen in a long time! Good luck Sound & Shape!

In Limbo ( www.myspace.com/inlimbotheband  ) was after them.
Their recordings do not do this band any justice whatsoever. These guys put on an amazing show of theatrics I have seen for this kind of music. Through their hilariousness of just back and fourth nonsense there was some quite interesting music. They found that spot right in the middle of seriousness and humor and just milk it for all its worth. They'll make you laugh your ass off but at the same time you'll want to dance your ass off. So your ass is sort of in a dilemma either way. Their music was super tight in a sloppy sort of way I guess. Aboslutely amazing. The lead singer was a sensational dancer too. Mid set he showcased his pop and lock routine that I'm sure he has been working on since January. Wonderful. Get this though...they had a KEYTAR. Who uses a key tar? Styx? is that it? nope. In Limbo uses a keytar. While my band takes pride in knowing that we are very minimal in our music and equipment. This band probably brought everything they could to this show and it worked! I have never laughed and danced so much at a show. Thank you In Limbo for making my night.

I think that both bands were going to be hanging out after the show. Most likely do lots of drugs and watch porn or something. They look like they would. Watch porn, that is. My guess, a little bondage, a little midget scene here and there, but mostly women pooping on eachother. Thats just my guess...

Check the bands out!

okay?

Hey kids whats poppin''''',

So what has been going in The Flips' lives? Well, I'll tell you. The past couple of weeks we have played several shows and made friends (or at least I hope we are friends and I'm not just the only one thinking that and they are really thinking that i'm not that cool or something...) with some super amazing and attractive bands.

One of them is a band called Affect Effect. They are quite an interesting group of gentlemen. Some of them play barefoot, which I think is a little weird but to each his own I guess. Sometimes we send eachother cute little comments on myspace. I usually say something wildly inappropriate and absurd and they reply with an "lol" or if im lucky "ROFLMAO!" They make some interesting music. I enjoyed it very much so. It is fun and energetic and sexually passive (i made that up, im not sure what that means). however....they kinda made fun of us for playing a blink 182 song. but i really didnt care cuz i was sitting in a really comfy sofa drinking an ice cold pepsi. so their nonsense didnt affect or effect me one bit. But the point is, I forget all of their names.....but really, the point is they are nice guys and im giving them their mad phat superfly stupid dope dumbass retarded bomb shit props.and i think we are going to play with them again in the next few months bitches.  www.myspace.com/affecteffect

Another band we got the pleasure of playing with is Another Pretty Lush. Now thats a fun and hot and hot cool and hot band.  Its mainly an all guy group except for the singer, bass player, and guitar player, who are girls. They sort of remind me of D-Generation X from the WWF. not really, but sort of. actually, now that i think of it. not at all. I actually made an effort to try and remember their names cuz upon the initial meeting of one another, they actually went out of their way to let us know they werent going to remember our names. so i figured if i leared their names, the next time we see eachother i would hopefully make them feel bad. so yeah. Leah is the singer. At least i think thats her name. I wasnt sure if it was pronounced like princess leia organa from Star Wars: A New Hope. but im pretty sure it wasnt. Anyways, she has got some kick ass voccccccccccals. its like cool chick rock bands but cooler i guess. i only talked with her a little bit. she seemed quite kind. shes black too. and i dont think she rapped. but thats just a stereotype i think. you see, not all black people rap. some do. but not all. some regge. wait, is regge a verb? am i even spelling it right? fuck. some black people are into politics like my man m.L. king jr. then there are the black people who...wow, im rambling. so shes really cool and has an amazing voice so there. their drummer is named adam. he was very handsome and talented at his instrument. the that bothered me was that he drank a shit load of soy milk out of the carton before he played. ick! his bandmates sed he was just a health freak. i didnt really see it. i mean, i think its perfectly normal to be sitting in a bar eating an orange. but i wonder if its tough bein the only guy in an all girl band. im sure there are times when all the girls talk about period blood and why pads feel like diapers. thatd suck. unless hes into that thing. becky played guitar. she was dope and wack and fresh. i wouldnt say she bragged about her guitar, but she did bring it to my attention that it was hers and the "best guitar ever". her words. she played pretty awsome....i know you are probably waiting for me to say "for a girl". but i wont. she played awesome. she talked to us the most which was cool. cuz since we were the openers none of the other bands talked to us much....premadonna assholes.... what? nevermind. last but not least was melissa. or mel. or something. but she played the bass guitar like me. only not as good as me since i invented the electric bass guitar back in the '50s, duh. i think shes the leader of the band. she runs their myspace at least. i occasionally will leave them messages of adoration and praise, and she'll write back..."i loved your covers" gee thanks. thats what we really worked so hard on. our covers. we spend every waking moment of our lives hoping to get our big break by playing a weezer cover. ugh. i guess that was our fault. you try to be entertaining and then people just forget about the cool original songs that you slaved over. sigh. oops rambling again. i wouldnt say she was the coolest in the band cuz that would be mean to the others, but shes up there. if we were to go on a tour, i could see us going with this band. only cuz i havent met alot of bands that dont think they are the greatest band in the world and everyone else sucks. plus they could lend me a tampax when i need one. www.myspace.com/anotherprettylush

what else has been going on in the flips' lives. welllll, we have been in the studio working on some wonderful new music for all. it should be finished this month.

here are some other bands we played with:

Made Avail
www.myspace.com/madeavail
I couldnt decide on what to say about them...so you choose whats better.

1) "Emo, Screamo, they make me Creamo"
2) "...and Screamo was their Name-o" (like that dog Bingo)

Hm, that seemed funnier in my head. but yeah, they are good. i think there are like 9 people in this band. i dont know who to compare them to cuz they are so unique.........cough..... but i was into all of their hair cuts. im not handsome enough to be like them. but go check them out. they rock.

Myllhouse
www.myspace.com/myllhouse
I liked them. named after the simpsons character i think.
this is taken off of their myspace in regards to their drummer "Richo Marquina is as animated of a drummer as humanly possible. Bringing his fun, punk rock personality to the band has been a great addition. He is the glue that holds the band together, and puts on a show even Dave Grohl would be proud of, while adding impecable vocals to the mix."

now i dont know much about anything, but...yeah i dont even know what to say. "Bassist Nick Sintos puts on a show that even Justin Timberlake would be proud of..."

check them out, they rock hardcore.

yeah so thanks to all of these bands and R.T. Guitars and Lot 4 and Ashbary Coffeehouse.
